Neglecting the megaloceros once again, for shame! #Justiceformooses
Kidding aside, I think they're worth mentioning for thatch because while I think the ones you listed are better gatherers per swing, the mooses are faster than all of the ones you listed and won't get weighed down by berries because they literally can't collect them lol. They also get pretty low wood rates, so it's easy to fully load up on thousands of thatch without needing to stop and dump unwanted items. Thanks for another great video!
Haha :)))) I'm gonna be honest for you, I don't use the moose that much:)) I knew it was very good for thach, but I didn't know it can't collect berries with it's attack:)) personally I prefer the trike, and I tried to keep it to maximum 3 dinos/resource, due to the amount of editing the video required:))) put I'm gonna pin your comment so everyone finds out how awesome the megaloceros is 😁👍
Haha that's fair - I think most people skip over the moose since there are better caving dinos, better transportation dinos, and thatch honestly isn't that hard of a resource to get since so many people are going to end up with a trike or stego early on for berries once they get high enough to move away from the parasaur most of us start with.

First of all megaloceros being used for anything, even thatch is for nothing other than singleplayer bobs. No one uses them. Secondly they’re not moose, they’re more so related or relative to Red Stag. Seeing as how they don’t really have moose like antlers or paddles and secondly they have a fur main around their neck just like a red stag and also they look just like them minus the color being different. Point is, they suck in ark and are useless. You can get just as much thatch if not more with a pick axe than one of those, and they look nothing like moose whatsoever.

I’m fairly certain that human hair is no longer a resource in the game. But scissors do still work on wool. Bonus tip: The more food stat an Ovis has, the more wool you get from them. Also, the more health stat they have, the more mutton they give when you slaughter them.

This video only further serves to prove that the Theri, is not only one of the biggest nuisances on the island, but also one of the best at... well almost everything... (Except stone and stone related gathering/crystal/obsid/oil).
It's also fast and can be used for bossing and being a herbivore doesn't take bonus damage from the dragons fire, these things are amazing XD

If I remember correctly, the Tuso and Basilo can generate oil passivelu or by using Hesperornis eggs.
Yeah, my bad on that one with the oil. The hesperonis one, I don't think it's that important.
@@SpartacusSurvives with the update on the Oviraptor to collect eggs, the Hesperornis eggs may have potential for an egg farm to be cooked for oils. I haven't tried it myself but if it can be mass produced without much supervision, it can be viable just a thought.

I think you should have mentioned the Oviraptor and dung beetle for collecting eggs and poop automatically.
And that dung beetles need to be on wander to produce fertilizer/oil.

Wood I disagree with. I've been using a Castoroides with a tribemate carrying me on an Argentavis and that combo has gotten us tens of thousands of wood in just a few minutes, even on official rates. Absolute must-have combo for grinding out stone behemoth gates ASAP; BUT, in a more late-game setting I recommend using a Therizinosaurus with its harvest levels put into Power, as it can get a much higher amount of wood per tree than the Castoroides and the Mammoth, and can be carried by a Rhyniognatha that has a good weight stat.
For thatch, absolutely use a Megaloceros (has to be male). They get a great amount of thatch per tree and are very fast, and you can just drop wood you get to end up with to keep from slowing down from encumberment. You can also use a Bronto, but mainly just because they are amazing at clearing HUGE areas of all manner of flora (and all small-medium fauna lol).
Now, when it comes to Cementing Paste, I'm sad to say there isn't really a great option for it. The best method I have found of getting large amounts of it on The Island (going as far back as ARK: Survival Evolved all the way back in its original 2015 Early Access release), is to take a Beelzebufo (the giant froggy) to the Swamp Cave (which is located close to the left side of the Redwoods) and use it to lick all of those poor Meganeuras to death, alternatively, you can harvest their bodies along with any spiders and centipedes with a metal hatchet for the Chitin, and mix that with some stone in a Mortar and Pestle or Chemistry Bench (the latter is far better for this method) to get Cementing Paste. The Achatina is not the best solution because it takes a while for it to make its Achatina Paste, and it can ONLY eat Veggie Cakes (which can be very expensive early game).
Now, for Silica Pearls... this one you actually do not want to use a dino for except to reach them. There are a few underwater caves in the ocean surrounding The Island that contain dozens of Pearl clams. Far more than what you can find in rivers, and puts the amount you get from Trilobites to shame. I recommend just taking an Icthyosaurus (dolphin) to each of these caves because of their high swim speed, as other methods will not give you a large quantity of them (you will thank me for this when you are in dire need of a ton of electronics), BUT BEWARE because these caves are also highly sought after in PvP as they are very easy to turn into an underwater base that is truly impenetrable.
Black pearls, I recommend just going around the ocean killing the giant squids with a few Megalodons in a pack (they gain a pack bonus on melee damage and take less damage the more you have in a pack, just like Dire Wolves and Raptors).
And finally, Element. This one is actually much easier than you think. One might think that the best way to get it is to just keep doing the Gamma Broodmother boss fight, but actually the best method is to keep doing the Gamma Megapithicus boss. You can solo this boss fight pretty easily so you aren't constantly sacrificing your creatures, as you can just tame a decent level Procoptodon (Kangaroo) and use it to jump onto the arch's broken walkway on the side closest to the entrance in the boss arena. From there, you can use a high-damage pump-shotgun with HUNDREDS of shells (I recommend at least 300% damage, which can be easily gotten if you have an ascendant blueprint, then mindwipe and put all points into crafting skill) to kill the boss. Just make sure to take some Fria Curry, some Medical Brews, and avoid being hit by the boulders it throws. This boss has the lowest amount of health compared to all of the other bosses. But if you want to do the Broodmother since the artifacts are easier to obtain, I highly recommend just doing the Beta one and bring in an army of Megatherium with a Yutyrannus and a Daeodon. Megatherium are special because they have a passive buff that lets them do far more damage to all types of insect and arthropods, while also taking less damage from them. This on top of the Daeodon's healing ability and the Yutyrannus's rallying roar are an excellent way of farming the broodmother.
Alpha difficulty broodmother, I would bring in an army of Spinos with a Daeodon and Yutyrannus since they can hit about as hard as a Rex and will get a hydration buff while in the Broodmother's arena.
Alpha Megapithicus, use an army of Therizinos with about 20 Veggie Cakes each along with a Daeodon and Yutyrannus as mentioned before (kite the boss to you, don't take your army to it, there is a death pit the Megapithicus can knock your creatures into).
Alpha Dragon, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BRINGING REXES OR SPINOS. The Dragon deals extra damage to carnivorous dinos. Instead, you want to breed Therizinosauruses for health and melee. I recommend getting at least 25k HP on each Therizino (after max-imprinting on the babies), giving them plenty of Veggie Cakes, trying to hide a Daeodon and a Yutyrannus amongst them, and then getting as many of them stuck under the Dragon while it's landed for as long as possible. You are going to lose several dinos to this boss, do not bring your favorite creatures into this fight.
Alpha Overseer... Gigas, Gigas, and more Gigas. Being the only boss arena that allows for these gargantuan carnivores AND up to 50 creatures, you absolutely want to bring as many Giganotosaurus in there as you can. While I can't recommend breeding Gigas for this fight on Official servers since they take a very long time to hatch and much longer to mature, these beasts have a significant advantage over Rexes when it comes to HP and melee damage, AND will go absolutely bonkers when they enrage (just make sure you aren't around when they do enrage, or else they will also attack you). The reason you want Gigas and not Rexes, is because you will encounter several extremely high level Gigas and Carcharodontosaurus, on the long journey through the Tek Cave towards the Overseer Room teleporter. For this fight, you will also want to have Tek armor and a spare set for every human, along with a high-damage shotgun with a huge amount of shells, several medical brews, and enough Element to power your suit(s). DO NOT DO THIS SOLO. You are going to lose a lot of dinos to this fight. Be strategic, and try to get as many Gigas into the Overseer Room as you can.
Hey, man! I really appreciate your comment! You basically wrote the script for a "how to beat the island" video in one comment 👍I've talked about some of the things that you are referring here in previous videos, like the wood topic, the achatina or the bossfight. I do have one question. how to you get gigas in the Alpha Overseer battle? i checked a few days ago, and the giga is still unable to enter the tek cave, let alone using the teleporter to the overseer arena.
@@SpartacusSurvives I don't know if it's the same on PvP servers, but on my PvE server we added a Cryopod mod and the alpha tribe of the server had to unpod them to fit them inside when they did the Gamma. We only have the mod because we know they will eventually make their way into the game later on in vanilla with the release of the DLC's. Can't take Gigas or Carchas into the Overseer Room itself, but you can fit a Carcha into the Tek Cave without cryopods, which is a decent alternative to a Giga; and those Blood Rage stacks can become incredibly useful for negating damage from centipedes and Gnashed effects from the cave gigas. You just don't want to bring multiple Carchas because you wont get enough Blood Rage stacks to make it as good as or better than a Giga. As far as getting dinos into the actual boss arena, that's why I said to bring a couple of Tek suits each and good shotguns with you to the Overseer, because you are going to lose a lot of creatures in the cave part both from damage and from falling off cliffs/lava. If you bring any tames into the Overseer Room, bring really good Therizinos for the same reason you would bring them to the Dragon fight, as it will shred carnivores once it turns into the Dragon. Good alternative to the Pump Shotty is a good RPG, but it's far more expensive to craft enough rockets. Shouldn't be that much of a grind if you already have multiple Tek Suits and are ready to fight the Alpha Overseer though. I absolutely recommend bringing at least like 5-7 people all fully geared up, either from your own tribe or with allies. Singleplayer or just having a couple friends is just too difficult without some serious planning and a few tweaks to the game settings. Of course, while there are some wrong ways of doing it, there are no correct ways of doing it.
Edit: Probably the best method for Official PvP as of right now is to bring a small number of high level Carchas you are willing to lose to clear a path through the Tek Cave, and then have the rest of your army of Therizino's, the Yutyrannus, and the Daeodon following behind you, making sure to manually ride them when needed to ensure they don't accidentally die to the environment.
@@TSPxEclipseAlpha Harambe is pretty easy with half decent Rex line and avg saddles. However, my problem doing this boss as often as I’d like is obtaining the Megalania Toxin…. I rarely, rarely can find me a Megalania 😢 any tips for this?

@@RealStinzTame them and farm the babies. Haven't tried yet, but iirc they're one of the only creatures that still give apex drops when killed as livestock.

Also achatina produces polymer and extends the spoil timer.

@SpartacusSurvives another sleeper pick for thatch is the megatherium, but only if the bug buff is active. I lived in the redwoods on the Island on official and if I got the bug buff and then did the bite attack I could slot cap with thatch 😆
@SpartacusSurvives I also think you should done the Dino for when you're looking for a pet to sleep with you... this animal will curl up in a ball and look very cozy while you lay in bed awaiting crafting to finish as a fun joke . The best animal to carry along with you would be otter for temperature while harvesting drop zones or harvesting element during dragon fight

megaloceros or mammoth for thatch too, i like the rhino for berries, doed is better for obsidian on the island, theri to gather -> mammoth to mitigate for wood, tuso also doesn't get stunned by jellies and is a LOT faster, moschops for organic poly,
the dire bear is the BIS fiber on island, u sprint on the edge of the swamp and get like 50k in 3 minutes.

Honestly moschomps are even one of the best at collecting and gathering organic poly & chitin, they target it with ridiculous rates, plus have an affinity that can make them even better. But otherwise, very good guide

Yeah, It does a good job for thach, but both the trike and especially bronto have the weight advantage which compensates for that speed. I do agree that it is a better day to day mount compared to the others.

the best for Biotoxin is the Archelon, because this is a mod it obviously falls to the basilo, but alot of players use the additions mods.
They are supper good in that regard, but then again, mod creatures are usually much better than regular creatures.

Completely broken and can continue to harvest in a straight line even after being overweight until its fully slotcapped (blackboxed) oh and this is in roughly about 30 seconds.

Therizinos are the best starting dino. Fiber, Wood, Berries, and a little Thatch on the side. Good DPS for Hide/Meat farming. Literally the most useful dino.

I've got one question regarding the Ichthyornys. I'm on Xbox on official server PvE, I'm trying to use it with Hunt and retrieve, but it doesn't work... Anyone knows if that is because is not available on official servers?? Or if there is different command on Xbox??

The ABSOLUTE best way to get thatch is to just convert it from wood with an industrial grinder. Use a power harvesting Therizino with a Beaver following (for the weight reduction and Smithy saddle) to get all the wood (fastest way to get a ton of wood; you can also use a Rhyniognatha to very quickly fly the Therizino back and forth if you don't want a beaver following you everywhere) and then just let your grinders do the rest. Otherwise, breed/imprint/level Megaloceros's for melee damage only and give it a small amount of levels into weight. You can get several hundred thatch per tree that way.

Yep! Have a tribemate driving a raft thought the swamp and you can also use the Therizino to gather an overabundance of wood and rare mushrooms (FAR, FAR , FAR more than a beaver or mammoth). That was my preferred method of getting wood for whenever I build either along the river by Red Obi or basically any river near Green Obi.

Are you or ascended? There is a bug currently. Take him near corpses and dismount, which will trigger auto-gathering from him.

Rexes, carchas, thylo, then theris r the best for gathering hide. Human hair is no longer a resources. Add the yutys and megatheriums to that list for its boost and megatherium for the fight against the broodmother. Plus they also get a boost against insects/bugs etc… which the broodmother is a giant spider. -.-

Being a total newb, it took me a while to realise you harvest pearls like you would fibre and berries.. I'm like "whys my shit not harvesting these clams!" 🤣
I’d just grab my anky and bring it to the mountain next to the volcano. Quite a lot of obsidian there.

Megatherium pales in comparison to a Therizino with harvest levels into delicate when it comes to fiber. It puts an ascendant sickle to shame.

@@caliboinate09 That's because people forget that Therizino's are basically in the same category as Rex's and Spino's. They're just a little smaller in size, so most people compare them more towards a Carno or such. But that size also means that you can breed an army of them SUPER fast, even faster than an army of Argy's. I've entirely switched my boss fighting army from Rex's to Therizino's (Megatherium for the Broodmother specifically) because of the buffs Herbivores get from Veggie Cakes.
@@TSPxEclipse right I’m not disputing the power house that is the tickle chicken, it’s just not something the average Ark player can achieve right away. Early game if I want thatch I def elect for an anky smacking trees, a male deer, or my favorite which is the megatherium especially now that you can farm prime wandering babies. Sir Scissor hands can’t be tamed early on unless someone hates themselves and wants to spend 6 hours minimum shoving narco berries up its butt.
