Lilly Collier me to but it's fine. Honestly, most law students end up not studying law but rather going into other areas. The degree itself is so flexible that you can do a lot, really, don't worry! As long as you are enjoying the degree itself :)
YO but seriously, this is SO normal ! i know so many people who i studied with who aren't doing anything to do with law. the great thing about a law degree is firstly that you can tailor it, so you can choose your optional modules, and secondly that you gain loads of soft-skills, like communication etc. THE WORLD ISN'T READY FOR GRADUATE U

Myr AK Hi, I'm also starting Law Uni this autumn. It's not necessary but it depends on where you live. On exm. I live in Croatia and we have so many law students, so getting LLM gives me higher chances at finding a job and having a higher pay. So basiaclly it all depends on where you live and does that country has high or low demand for lawyers, ministers etc. And good luck in Uni! ❤️

Lucy Hitchens thank you for helping me out because I’m an international student and not 100% certain on what the process to qualify in law is like in the U.K. yet 😊😊 so what I’m understanding is that unless it’s at a top university like Oxbridge/LSE/ that tier or a specialist masters, an LLM is kind of useless?? Do you really think it would make employers see potential job candidates in an unfavourable light or will they just consider it as not that substantial?

hey !! in my opinion, unless you have a really specific area of interest that you want to study at a higher academic level, an LLM is unnecessary in the UK in the route to be a solicitor! i found that by my third year of law school, i was pretty ready to leave, and that's coming from someone who really loved their degree! of course, its a totally personal decision, but i don't know anyone in my year at bristol that did an LLM!

Just completed my LL.B in jamaica (jamaican subscriber) I will do the equivalent to the LPC in jamaica known as the LEC,but for us this will allow me to be both a barrister and a solicitor, i’m happy to find someone on the same journey as me! Congrats on your success !

I'm currently taking my Law degree which takes 4 years. If you want to be barrister you will have to train under a lawyer who was practicing his craft for 5 years or more. Another opinion is to study in the Justice Training Center for three years or take one year then train under a lawyer for two years. But I don't know much about the solicitor, because if you wanna to work on a case and be a legal counselor you just need your 4 years degree but you are not a lawyer you are just a legal counselor and you can't represent your client in court.

The process is similar (in a way) to becoming a qualified clinical psychologist (which is what I’m aiming to be), you do the undergrad in psychology and a masters in some sort of clinical psychology (although you don’t have to do the masters), then you have to get 2 years of experience in a clinical area I.e. a support worker, then you apply for the 3 year doctorate, which on average has 15 places and has between 200-500 applicants at each uni, so can take 3 years before you even get accepted then you finally become a qualified clinical psychologist. We both seem to be choosing complicated career paths 😭

This is such a better system. In my country law school is 5 years... 5 fucking years (I start to feel like a grandma and I still have a year of it) and after that you have to work 3 years in that field where you want work... it feels like a lifetime
