    For anyone else that wants to put a little lock tite on a small screw or bolt, here's a hot tip if the locktite comes in a container like the one shown.
    Take a toothpick, dip it into the locktite. A small drop will collect on the end of the toothpick due to surface tension. Then just dab that on the screw.
    Have fun, be safe.

    My favorite part of this is that if you've seen enough of Ian's videos you can see just how far the industry has come in terms of the refinement of parts functionality (single parts performing multiple roles) as well as the genius of modular design and modern manufacturing techniques. Some people like to think the old designs were better in every way, but try and assemble any old design from a collection of unmatched parts and see how well it runs.

    • @socmonki
      @socmonki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But but but...MIM parts!!!!!
      Wish Ian would do a video on MIM parts and how long they have been used in firearms. I hate seeing people talking about how they are inferior. No, they're not, you just don't understand the technology and science behind it.
      And this video makes me miss my M18...out of town for work and I decided to bring my Beretta APX A1...lol

    • @ninja393
      @ninja393 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @vincent g Yes, granted. However I said non-matched parts. Take a bunch of parts from say two different manufacturers that have not been fit into finished guns previously I doubt they would work well. I'm not saying it wont work, but likely would not run well. Tolerances and stacking tolerances being what they are.

      If the market was less divided, parts would be much cheaper, like with ARs. If someone made a modular pistol receiver that wasn't proprietary to a single company, it would become the AR-15 of handguns before long.

    Random trivia...
    The 320 X-5 legion has a loose recoil spring from the factory. It comes with 2 springs in the box, and takes 1911 style springs to allow tuning to a specific load. Great tool to teach new shooters with very low power handloads that won't have any muzzle flip, and you can get a soft enough spring to allow it to still run.
    Any spring you choose, change it every 5000 rounds. The last broken Sig frame I had they recommended it (28000 rounds) and the new frame lasted me 3x the round count before I retired that pistol for the x-5 legion.

    If you ever plan on taking the muzzle device off again, locktite the barrel threads rather than the set screw threads. That way you can just wrench it off when it comes time to remove it.
    Alternatively, toss the red loctite in the trash and use rockset instead, the same stuff Surefire uses on their supressor ready muzzle devices. Rockset can withstand up to 3000 degrees but is water soluable, meaning a few minutes in warm to hot water and you can spin it right off again.

      @Dymitr_Nawrocki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@xyzpdq1122 Yeah, i made that mistake, you actually need very little amount because it will spread itself around thread very easily, and if you have blind threaded hole you can just put little drop in it and when you screw screw in it will hydraulically push loctite up around the threads, still it's better to put it on the screw itself but when you have to screw a lot of screws it is useful to use tricks like that.

    I recommend shrink wrap for the trigger stop pin, esp if you have one that's loose and wants to fall out. If you don't overheat it, it'll have a nice snug fit that will keep the pin in place, but won't be hard to take off or reinstall. It also works like the spring to reduce over-travel of the trigger. Just need different thicknesses of shrink wrap if you want to really tune the trigger. Regular generic shrink wrap seems to work just fine though. Just can't forget to insert an empty magazine to test the trigger, so the sear doesn't pull the slide down with it (from the up/down play/slop in the slide movement).

      @@thecommissaruk
      Firearms normally cannot be 'stood up' that way. I mean, revolvers and older pistols tend to be all metal so sure maybe a slide can be stood up like that but with the metal frame sticking off the side at the top? Nah, impossible, it'd tip over!
      I guess, due to the flat front of the frame, possibly with the aid of a specific angle, and the fact the frame is polymer and has little-to-no metal on it, the majority of the weight in the slide is sufficient to keep it upright without tipping over.
      Honestly I don't think I've ever seen that before in my life, a pistol that can stand up on its muzzle without some sort of stand probably with a plastic or wooden stick to go into the barrel itself to make it do so. That pistol just naturally can stand on it muzzle, and that's wild to me. It's hilarious to see, it's something you almost NEVER get to observe, almost like someone randomly standing on their hands for no reason, seemingly to grab attention. Like... why are you doing that? That's not normal. It's comical and amusing, but not normal, the only reason someone would do it is for attention. So that's kinda the funny vibe I got from that pistol doing something I basically have never done before.
      Edit: Oops, wrong word used, I meant 'never seen before' and not 'never done before,' the very last sentence.

    I’m reminded of that scene from “the Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, when that bandit (the Ugly) walks out of the desert and walking into a gun shop, assembles a new revolver out of various parts of other revolvers. This obviously wouldn’t work, as what looks like a Smith and Wesson cylinder would never work in the frame of a Colt Navy percussion. But that scene was utterly cool. 🙂😮

    A little trick on putting the slide on. Sometimes their are 2 parts of the searer group that pop up if the trigger is slightly moved or if the tail of the slide cap hits them when putting the slide back on. Use you finger to push them down and reset them. This will keep you from moving the slide to the rear if you don't notice it happening and easy to miss if you don't watch for it.

  • @johnbrennan3735

    Great video. I love the amount of customization which this system affords. The best part is that say 20 years ago you usually had to buy a fully functioning gun and they buy the custom parts you wanted and then you’d be left with perfectly good parts that you had no use for, but had to pay for. With this you can buy exactly what you want with minimal if any left overs. When I get one I will definitely go with the stock Sig guide rod/captive spring even if it means tossing the ones which come with whichever slide I choose.
    I’m always thinking worst case scenario, call me paranoid. The area of the chassis which the slide travels above during recoil got me thinking. If something landed in those recesses vertically, such as an ejected case it may stop the slide cold or worse get mangled under the slide and jam things up. I realize there is probably a better chance of me being struck by lightening while cashing my lottery check. What are your thoughts?

    I fired the Flux Defense Raider that used the SIG P320 at an indoor range. It's fun but you get smoke, debris and concussion in your face because you're literally firing a handgun at the end of your nose. It may work as a PDW but it isn't one. This may be more of an issue at indoor ranges. I fired the original Flux at SHOT Show at the outdoor range and it wasn't as obvious compared to firing indoors. Well designed dedicated PDWs shouldn't have those issues.

    • @BenfromFlux
      @BenfromFlux 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Raider is intended to be a micro PDW, a step up from this B&T pistol with a stock, but as much capability in the smallest package possible. I think there are a lot of variables with the smoke, debris and concussion, I wonder if you shot it with a comp, or even a suppressor. Certain comps are absolutely terrible on the Raider, such as the HA version one with side rear projecting ports, and certain suppressors create a ton of blowback.
      I can and do fire multiple strings of 42 rounds (21+21) from my chopped optic mount (for concealing under a button up shirt) Raider indoors with no issues whatsoever, very quickly, very accurately, and have done so without eye protection for testing. I don't even notice gas or blowback of any sort. The Raider has beat out every other PDW in every eval, including evals done by tier one units.
      As I design my own operating system for the Flux PDW, reducing the gas and concussion is absolutely going to be minimized as much as possible. Cheers, and let me know how else I can improve the system.
