And Claire is BEYOND amazing in everything she's done! But this scene, where she shows so many differing and mixed emotions in just mere seconds...WOW!!! 😊
I so love this scene but it is still SO heartbreaking today even though I've watched it more times than I can count. She finally reveals to him that she knows he's been unfaithful and can't hide it anymore but shows him how much unbearable pain she's in because of it....just beyond heartbreaking...😢
Brilliant how suddenly, when he sees the photo in the drawer, we hear a load of birdsong.
My Norman mom lived in England during her early years training to be an RN (early 1960’s). She tells my family that it was well known that “Philip was AC/DC”. He appreciated the comfort of both men and women.
You're spreading a rumor, and the man's not here to defend himself.
Well grounded rumor that apparently everyone but you knew about. Just like the ‘rumor’ that JFK had extramarital affairs.
I know JFK had affairs.@@ronreagan7950
@@ronreagan7950JFK also had a bromantic homoerotic relationship with his closest gay male friend and that's a known fact.
I have also always heard that Phil was bi and it wouldn't surprise me at all. He was very beautiful when younger and it's common for men in the upper classes and especially the aristocracy to swing both ways. It's obvious he was a highly sexual creature and was very frustrated by the conservative and stuffy confines of life at the Palace with prim Lizzy. Much of his rage and angst over the years was due to his repressed homosexuality and sexuality in general. It's so clear.
How many of the Mountbatten men enjoyed relationships with men and women? Phillip, if he did, would he really care what anyone thought? If Phillip did such things, he did it because he could.
Claire Foy is one beautiful lady.
She's not beautiful. But she's pleasant looking and attractive. A handsome woman. The queen also was not "beautiful". But has a pleasant face. People use the word "beautiful" way too liberally these days. Grace Kelly was beautiful. Hedi Lamarr was beautiful. Ava Gardner was beautiful. Rita Hayworth. Gene Tierney was beautiful. Liz Saxe-Coburg-vön Gotha (aka Windsor), was not.
@@lapislazuli7876 To each his own friend...but Claire's one of the most beautiful women on the planet...
The q lived in hell. And always smiled like everything was good. 😢😢😢😢😢
"Hell" is a strong word...🤔
Claire Foy is giving me old school Kylie Vibes here, as I’m a massive Kylie fan - and the actor that’s playing Prince Philip here is absolutely gorgeous too 😍😍😍😍😍
Was there an implication here that this guy was secretly in love with Prince Philip and was trying to start a gay relationship with him? And when Philip rejected his sexual advances that the guy took his own life?
What gave you the idea that PP rejected him?
NEW FANFIC Y'ALL
The guy threw swinger parties. The implication is that Phillip attended one of those swinger parties and was the Mystery Man in the photograph.
No none of that was ever implied lol
@@poknberry5795so what was the implication then?
Was it mainly that he attended swinger parties and had affairs with women? But why then did the osteopath paint so many portraits of sexy Phil? It was obviously an homoerotic bromantic attraction.
Looks like these parties were the precursor to the Epstein days later on.
Also looks like Prince Andrew had a sexual role model in his promiscuous and wayward Pa Pa.
Apples don't fall far from trees, or so it seems.
It's interesting but it really doesn't change my view of him. Humans have many different facets. I don't judge him.
So...Phillip liked to swallow swords occasionally?
I don't understand what is going on here at all.
Haven’t seen the show yet but these clips make me like Prince Phillip more than I did when he was alive.
I always thought she treated Philip like he was just tagging on to her along the way. Never really cared about how much he gave up for her. Treated him like an outsider. His mistake was he should have never married her. Stayed in the navy and been happy with his career.
I guess the fact that he didn't choose his career over his marriage shows what his priorities were. Phillip, like the queen had their own reasons for entering into that marriage. They made their own beds.
Royal marriages during those times were more of strategic alliances and far from being romantic. Elizabeth broke tradition and chose the man she loved since she was a young girl even if the entire institution was against it. I believe it was a success, seeing that they remained a couple until the end.
what makes you think that? were you present during their private moments? they certainly never let on that she felt this way, so you must have some inside information that no one else has
@@brians9508 It’s common knowledge he was upset about being a second class royal. Imagine your mother in law and wife’s grandmother hating your guts. They had a lot of clever insulting names for him. His children couldn’t even use his surname. He made the best of a bad situation.
He wanted the privilege and potential power that may have come from being married to the sovereign. At the end of the day, he was a homeless mongrel who married up and spent way too much time whining about it.
First!
Loser.
