So beautifully played...Barenboim is one of my favorite pianists However, I sometimes noticed his back is stiff. I'm pretty sure that's used to convey emotion.
I like it ..... Okay ... it' a rather romantic interpretation and the tempos are being wildly swung around. But somehow much more satisfying that either the Gould or Gilels. The scale passages sparkle and I love the "dialogue" of both hands in the 'dolce' section. Too many performers seem to shortchange those beautiful bass voices. And the two against three portion is the best I've heard so far. Lovely treat.
There really isn't definitively a 'best' piano maker in the world. It completely depends on the individual instrument and the player. I tend to agree that Steinways are more likely to sound beautiful and be easy to control, but then again I've played Bosendorfers that feel like the greatest instruments I've ever played. It's really a subjective question. I, for one, tend to think Yamahas are too bright and difficult to control, yet listen to how Richter made them sound!
Tony Li Unfortunately your statement could not be more inaccurate. Beethoven is one of the first composers who insisted upon correct tempo, dynamics, articulations etc. Though the first 11 piano sonatas original scores are no longer in existence. We can clearly see that the next 21 he wrote are marked with very specific tempos etc in his own hand writing. Educate yourself then provide interesting facts. Not uneducated opinions.
@Lawrencelovespiano Steinway And Sons uprights are not the best but the grands are great. The uprights don't last. If you want an upright, get a Yamaha.
Too romantic his interpretation...incomprehensible tempo changes and the strong echo in the recording disguises that he often plays quite unclean. I would never say that I am a better pianist but his playing of Beethoven is very questionable. Though I really enjoy him conducting Bruckner.
Very beautiful! But... it is a piece that written in CLASSICAL PERIOD! If u r going to take any exam with this piece, DON'T learn from this video!! Cuz there r too many rubato, too romantic!!! Be careful that u r performing in a correct style!
Beethoven hardly played his own music in the style of the classical period. Read any account of his playing and you will learn he was a romantic in his playing from an early age. His playing was what invented the romantic era style.
I was thinking the exact same. He is taking way too many liberties with this one. He's playing this like a romantic piece. Don't get me wrong I enjoy B!
@@zakiahart3919 It;s Barenboim.Maybe he just knows better.Just maybe....:-))),Really ,he has decades of outstanding performances as a pianbo player /conductor.Real musician,the real deal,he's Barenboim.wtf.
Holy hell honestly no one cares how old you are. One guy willing to listen to this piece is probably just as good as another guy. And who needs to know it's your dad's account?
Congrats young one as you become older you will find that you will learn pieces that others have played you haven't. Guess what I'm a full grown adult just learning this piece, but I've also played pieces that my peers haven't played . That's what's great about learning music! ❤️there are no barriers race or age. All can learn all can play at ones given time.
Exquisite touch, beautifully played. His musical abilities are phenomenal. Barenboim is the best Hands down
His cantilena is superb! What a delight to listen to the nuanced slurs and articulated notes!
There are absolutely NO WORDS to describe how this piece, especially played by Barenboim, is just utterly amazingl!!!!

This is Beethoven as its best. Barenboim makes quite intelligent performances. Wise, sublime and ration.

Steinway And Sons make the best grand and upright pianos, when I am older, I am going to own one, and I am going to be a pianist.
perfect...
On a lighter note, I thought it was Anthony Hopkins playing...

He starts playing at 0:05 (even though it doesn't really matter)
That's weird how he increases his tempo during the fast sections, aren't they fast enough? Lol
#0:00 1:45
# 03:26 03:53

Beethoven did not write pieces to go along the tempo. It's up to you to decide where to make things fast or slow.
Tony Li

This piano is a Stenway & Sons. One on the best piano at the world :)
I feel like he uses a bit too much rubato in some areas.
Good
I'm 2 and I learn this piece in 3 day.
he is argentine!! remember that!
first be a great pianist, then buy a great piano, you can become one even practicing on the lamest August Försters ;)
He looks like John Lill.

I'm learning
Good luck lol

I find Yamahas too bright and hard to control, but they make the piece sound so much richer and beautiful.
@Lawrencelovespiano One day you must: touch a Bosendorfer AND play a harpsichord...in fact a few...
no thanks you!!!!
Too romantic his interpretation...incomprehensible tempo changes and the strong echo in the recording disguises that he often plays quite unclean. I would never say that I am a better pianist but his playing of Beethoven is very questionable. Though I really enjoy him conducting Bruckner.
@k0rnl0ver ...biggest musicians in the world, yeah he needs to watch his diet
Pretty but takes the piece out of context with the over exaduration of rubato
😱
Pointless comment
