This is one of the finest renditions on YT! And there are many fine ones. He captures the mystery of the island and the events in the play. (People sometimes forget it is based on a Shakespeare play.) I've never heard of this man before! What a shame. Where did this take place?
Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria), Großer Saal, August 2014, as part of the Salzburg Festival. If I'm not mistaken, Buchbinder recorded 3 Beethoven sonata integrals: studio early 1980s (for Teldec), live 2010/2011 (for RCA) and this live integral in 2014 (DVD & BluRay, for Unitel Classica).
Il faut tout faire pour que le finale ne coule pas comme un ruisseau d été mais comme une vague se fracassant sur des rochers. aigus : écoutez Pogorelich !
You can feel Beethoven's heart in this performance! Thank you, Maestro!

The best two pianists playing Beethoven 's music are Rudolf Buchbinder and Claudio Arrau.
Both have his music in their hearts.
two completely different pianists. But both genius! Arrau always was my favority... but when discover Buchbinder, my mind change to another dimension!

I almost forgot that Friedrich Gulda's performance of the 32 Beethoven sonatas is extraordinary too.

Finale joué un peu trop vite, un peu trop "mécanique". Néanmoins ce finale est tellement beau que l'interprétation est presque secondaire.
