    This is awesome! I'm writing a story about a guy who gets sent back and time and starts playing modern songs on lute in the dark ages. I was looking up covers of modern songs on lute and can't believe stairway to heaven didn't pop into my head immediately. It's basically written in a medieval style. This was incredible!

    • @BraedonHofmann
      @BraedonHofmann  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! The biggest difference, other than amount of strings, is the tuning. 13-course is in Dm. The first 6 courses are tuned to an open Dm chord. Then the diapasons are tuned diatonically depending on the key of the piece. 8-course is tuned in 4ths closer to a guitar :)

      @@BraedonHofmann Do you feel you need two lutes to play the different repertoires or can you use the baroque to cover it all?

    • @BraedonHofmann
      @BraedonHofmann  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paltieri11 Sadly, it is pretty much necessary to have both. The baroque lute scale length is quite a bit larger which would make the "old tuning" quite difficult. Plus with the tuning differences, one would have to transcribe the renaissance tablature into the Dm tuning.
