    Folks in regards to the butt stock cover, it's a Galco. The butt itself is still the original crescent. Even though the cover is for a shotgun style butt, it actually works well and adds an air pocket. One note, I do also need a longer LOP and it does make the LOP longer.

    • @ej7447

      Would you tell me where this butt stock is listed on the Galco sight? Looks great on your rifle.

    That is one beautiful rifle and for once, the background music, background “big country” and those absolutely magnificent, thunderous, rolling reports, as those heavy rounds ripped through the land, all came together to make this one of the best videos that I’ve had the pleasure of watching! Thank you and I sincerely hope that that Rifle is giving you as much pleasure now, as this video has me!

    Back again! I love lever guns and this video. Picked up another 86' Deluxe at the local shop. One of the guys said, "don't you already have one of these?" I said, "yes, now I have another one." My favorite levers are the 86, 92, and 94. I had a Marlin 1895 years ago. Bought it in 1972 if that was the first year of production. Like a dummy, I sold it.

    I have several marlin 45/70's and love them. They are so smooth and accurate! I have taken water buffalo and red stag in Argentina along with white tails and pronghorn antelope in upstate NY and Wyoming! Last year I bought a Winchester 1886 in 45/90 and shot a 1 ton bison in Montana! When I got home I dropped the 1886 off at Turnbull restorations and had it color case hardened, tang safety removed and a shotgun butt installed. What a beautiful rifle and it is getting smoother with age! Planning on taking it to Newfoundland next year for moose. Love my leverguns!

      I have four Henry rifles, my first and third rifle were big boys in 45 colt and 357. They’re great rifles, especially with the upgraded wood set from Henry. You should check out a Winchester too if you can, very different shooting experience. The new production ones are expensive but easily even better rifles in my opinion.

    Glad to see one of your videos again. I always have had the love of 1895’s in common with you Sir!! Mine I believe is a 2017 Marlin 1895. At that time it was engraved on the firearm CB 45-70, later on they changed the 18.5” barrel 1895 to CBA Cowboy action. And then the 26” barrel 1895 became the CB 45-70 to distinguish it from the 18.5” model. Anyway I think the 1895 45-70 Marlin’s made by Remington especially around the years 2017-2019 when things were straightened out, were the best Marlin lever guns ever made. They are so much stronger than any of the older JM models. Ruger has Marlin now, I am sure they are fine firearms but, I do not believe they will ever reach the same craftsmanship level of the Remington made one’s!!

      Excellent. Great cartridges. Good hunting. Sounds like some good eating too, although I've never had Moose :).

    Beautiful Rifle. I have an Italian made one that I really like. Love the leather sling? You have that made? Also did you install the rear sight on the 1886? Does it require drilling and tapping? Great video!

    I agree! Thanks for the nice vids. I picked up an 1895 Win in 405 yesterday. Having trouble finding ammo or brass. Saw some brass for $6 a case. Ouch!

      You got it Gary. Oh the 1895, very cool. I have the 30-06. Really unique gun and action. Yeah you're probably better off just buying straight ammo then reload those. Kind of crazy...

      I managed to get two boxes of Hornady and a couple boxes of Bertram brass. By the way, I have a Browning 86 full octagon and a Win Light Rifle. Waiting for my dealer to get the 86 Win Deluxe. Also waiting on a Colt SAA. Is this vid shot in California? Scenery is beautiful.

      Thanks man. It's a relaxing gun to shoot. Distances were from 10-350 about. Not too far. The gun can go farther for sure. Man, the old west. When you love it, it's just in you.

    Great video , outstanding, love that Winchester , looks like a Williams sight . I've been looking a that sight but with target knobs , any input , if so thanks . Will watch this video over and over , thanks again , keep it up .

    • @LeftThumbBreak
      @LeftThumbBreak  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Judson for the positive feedback. It's always good to know the video is helping out and fun to watch.
      Yeah, it's a Williams sight. I have the FP-336 with target knobs on my Marlin 1895CB but I don't know if the side mount 86/94 sight has that option. The target knobs are a little bulky but really convenient. If I had the time and patience, I'd actually use one of these: REMOVED due to TH-cam new policies
      One note on the Williams pass 300 yards on the 45-70, I started to run out of elevation.

    Been looking at the new Winchesters for some time. How's the 45-70 recoil on a crescent stock? I like that slip on stock pad, may I ask where you got it? Great video!!

    • @kirkturner7092
      @kirkturner7092 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The recoil is stout. I’m still sporting a bruise, a week later, on my right shoulder from four rounds shot from my 1886 in 45-70 and a crescent butt.

    I enjoy your videos! Especially the ones on the 1886 and 1885. I agree with your thoughts on public lands. You look Alaskan to me. How did you end up in the desert?

    • @LeftThumbBreak
      @LeftThumbBreak  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Gary. Not Alaskan although i did work in Anchorage a little while. I dearly love all those open lands everywhere. I don't think there's anywhere in the world like our west and mid-west.

    I juste purchased the same rifle and would like to know “in detail” the job you’ve done to the hammer to lighten it and to make it (not rebounds). Would be awesome to see a detail tutorial video.
    Best regard
    And happy new year to you and yours family!

      Hi there. Unfortunately because of youtube rules I try to stay away from direct "gunsmithing" info. However, you can find the info easy, just bing or google "Winchester-Miroku-1886-Rebounding-Hammer-Fix-Tutorial" and a castboolits thread should be your first result. That's what I used. One note on these directions, there was no second tang screw on my 1886.
