R.I.P. John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham "With Zeppelin, I tried to play something different every night in my solos. I'd play for 20 minutes but the longest ever was 30 minutes. It's a long time, but whenI was playing it seemed to fly by." -John Bonham-
@BradfordandLasso You lucky, lucky human being. I detest being a teenager in this day and age, I would have loved to have seen Led Zeppelin in their heyday. I've loved Led Zeppelin since I was a child, and I WAS at the O2 gig (I was just 14 at the time). The experience was absolutely incredible, standing 20ft away from my idols, but I was angered at the presence of people such as Paris Hilton - her place could have been filled by someone who truly is a fan of the band and appreciated the music.
@Equinoxxa You are very lucky yourself. I would have loved to been at the O2 gig. But Paris and her peers got the tickets instead of people like me. Oh well, that's life. Thanks for the comment. all the best.
I'm still pretty ticked that Plant didn't agree to do a show at MSG after this! If for nothing else, just to give their American audience, who really in many ways made them what they are today, a finale before it became too late!
Link Wray was noted for the innovation of a new sound for electric guitars as exemplified in his hit 1958 instrumental "Rumble which pioneered an overdriven, distorted electric guitar sound. He also invented the power chord.
Yeah, you are right. Wow, your ancient! 15 in 1980? I was only 12 then.(Just messin). I remember seeing shirts that said LZ 1980 US Tour, and below the white print it said CANCELED in red. At least for long time fans like us, we now have all the utube footage.
omg dude, i wasnt comparing them to heavy metal, i was just saying heavy metal bands of today were inspired ALOT by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. I know Led Zeppelin were completey inspired by the blues, most of their songs are covers of blues songs with zep's own kickass twist. Gallows Pole was originally Gallis Pole by Leadbelly, When The Levee Breaks, The Lemon Song... Etc.
zdogy1, it looks like his hair has already "died". (the correct spelling for colouring is "dyed") No one cares what he looks like, besides to tell you the truth, he's really cute for an old guy. Kind of sweet.
I can't stand that the likes of Kate Moss got a ticket. I'll wager she's never listened to No Quarter Cleveland 1977 and cried over Pages sublime guitar solo.
Led Zeppelin is my favorite band but they are not considered the first heavy metal band. They are stated to have provided the basis of heavy metal with they're hard rock sound. They are undeniably one of the greatest bands in history and the first hard rock band. Deep Purple is, literally, the fist heavy metal band.
Amen..Im not sure why people go on and on about some of these band's ages...Honestly I would rather pay to go see an old great band...then some of the tripe the call rock nowadays.
@RockerForLife74 Bootle.! Seek out Third Eye Productions to start with. There are many different versions of the O2 show circulating now including a BluRay version.
@robdant i don't know if i offended you, sorry if i did, but i wasn't insulting zep in anyway, i said i love both bands, they are my two favorites. so i really don't know why you directed that comment towards me.
Good Point Cooleme! I like Plant a lot and understand his reasoning regarding touring with Zep, but to me its kind of a slap to the REAL fans that they did this show, and they had to of known that the only ppl that would be able to see it are the ones that eat drink and shit money. Tour for 1 yr, let the ppl see the show, and call it quits.
fucking people were not even born when LZ came too be!!....I was doing bong hits and playing there music on vinal records.....They have no idea how huge this band was
@MOSKII58 Rolling Stones were among the best live bands, along with Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. The Who weren't quite on a level with those bands, despite the fact that Pete Townshend and Keith Moon were fantastic. As a frontman, Roger Daltrey was second tier to Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, and Ian Gillan.
@PAULOcbi The performance is secondary? Thats the only reason I would have shown up. Yeah the event itself was cool and all but that zep set is why 99% of those people were there. I understand why they down tuned, but it detracts from the way those songs were meant to be originally heard and as I said before...no Bonzo :( I love zeppelin and this show wasnt bad, just not the true zep imho. Just my opinion though, thats all.
buy them all, there isn't a bad led zeppelin album - although how the west was won is a phenomenal live album, and their best studio albums are II, IV and physical graffiti in my opinion
Oh, really? The Stones still have all their members? How's Brian Jones been lately? Haven't heard from him much the last 30 years....haven't heard from Wyman in awhile either, come to think of it. Led Zeppelin had the rare class and grace to realize "they could not continue as they were" with the loss of their "dear friend." It's the LAST thing anyone should use as ammo in some asinine "my band's better than you band" nonsense.
I dont give a fuck either way but if youre arguing about who was the original Heavy Metal group...Blue Cheer had it all...the loudest, hairiest, meanest sound before Purple, Sabbath, Zep...check out their Summertime Blues on here and tell me im wrong!
I think the world has gone bonkers after reading all of the ass kissing praise. Wow, old guys get together and play music. The Stones did it for years as did the Beach Boys. Les Paul used to play until he found it hard to to do so. There are tons of bands out there. What if Boston did a reunion gig?
have been saying that for years,Zep is the best Hard rock band ever (Deep Purple is after them) Sabbath is metal totally different. Zep =best hard rock Beatles=best pop band Who=best live band then we have Floyd,Yes, & Steely dan to catorgorize NOT!!!
The down tuning sucked for that gig and Bonzo wasnt there. Tryly a "you had to be there" type of thing for sure. I have the show on blu ray and Ive only watched it maybe three times since I got it. It was way better than Live Aid or Atlantic 40th but that aint saying much...
I hate all of those "celebs" who could just get in for free whilst the first of us suckers had to hope to win the ballot for a ticket out of 20,000! But with all of those celebrities it was more lik 18,000!!!
I wouldnt buy the DVD. I'm cool with whatever. I wanted to see them 1000x more in the 80's. Whether for Ahmet, or Live Aid, its just kind of a teaser. I saw Robert 5x Page Plant 2x etc, I just think they made too big of deal out of never doing a show with Zep as the main theme. Now they are in their 60's. Do 30 shows in major US cities and call it quits. Give back to the fans that have spent 100's of millions on all of their post Bonham Box Sets!
Unforunately, and this isnt bashing zep, people call them metal just because its something ELSE to give to Zep. I mean basically every poser who claims to be a Zep fan calls Jimmy Page the greatest guitarist ever, which is a flat out lie. Robert Plant is the best frontmen ever, once again wrong. The only 2 people who I would even consider placing at number 1 if in their field would be John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
of course they were amazing , they are amazing ,BEST BAND EVER ,PERIOD.
R.I.P. John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham
"With Zeppelin, I tried to play something different every night in my solos. I'd play for 20 minutes but the longest ever was 30 minutes. It's a long time, but whenI was playing it seemed to fly by." -John Bonham-
When I see clips from the 2007 reunion show I almost cry, for not being there.
You can by the D V D...it is
GREATEST.. BAND.. EVER!!! YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!
Led Zeppelin the best rock band ever..
Ahmet Ertegen was a wonderful man. All the music he helped bring to the world,it boggles the mind.
The best band in rock and roll history !!!
Totally agree with you, I would love to have been there, but couldnot get a ticket.
So it is a real bummer to see these ppl get in so easily
GREATEST BAND EVERRR
i think you will find it was 20 million and not 1 million people trying to get tickets
@BradfordandLasso You lucky, lucky human being. I detest being a teenager in this day and age, I would have loved to have seen Led Zeppelin in their heyday. I was there thank god! NT
Hey Kate Moss is a human being and she deserves as much respect as anyone else.
@Equinoxxa You are very lucky yourself. I would have loved to been at the O2 gig. But Paris and her peers got the tickets instead of people like me. Oh well, that's life. Thanks for the comment. all the best.

Was a great show. Lucked into tickets. Crazy
@BradfordandLasso Envious, I am! 3 times... I would have killed to see them once.
Is that richard hammond from top gear at 9 seconds?
Since they last played together which was at the Atlantic Records anniversery show in 1988
You're crazy. Jimmy looks even cooler with the white hair. Looks like a wizard. Like his idol Aleister Crowley.
noel gallagher is LOVE.
Hey! There was a camera crew! Where's the film? No official one was ever published! WTF?
i dont think mr. plant has lost his voice at all i would love to see them live someday there the best band in the world
yeah i agree
yay
I was there but strangely can't remember much.
they have really good film of the performance where can we see this footage!

what did Paulo Nutini say? All I got was something about bagpipes and thats it
@PAULOcbi Do The Stones REALLY use a click track onstage? Details, please!
@PAULOcbi Is this a well known piece of info as I don't think that U2s drummer is quite near 65 yet!
when will the dvd come out??
@puddledoo Did you ever get to see them back in the 1960's or '70"s?
omg dude, i wasnt comparing them to heavy metal, i was just saying heavy metal bands of today were inspired ALOT by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. I know Led Zeppelin were completey inspired by the blues, most of their songs are covers of blues songs with zep's own kickass twist. I agree gopack1959 I sure wore out allot of bong's smoking and listening to Led Zep on vinyl.
zdogy1, it looks like his hair has already "died". (the correct spelling for colouring is "dyed")
No one cares what he looks like, besides to tell you the truth, he's really cute for an old guy. Kind of sweet.
Zep is my favorite band. I answer to no one. I am free.
Why I couldn't be in O2 Arena?
They did play Kashmir
Thats wrong information acutally over 23million registered
I can't stand that the likes of Kate Moss got a ticket. I'll wager she's never listened to No Quarter Cleveland 1977 and cried over Pages sublime guitar solo.
que ese wey no es el que sale en la pelicula fligth 666?? 1:17
Why isn't the American press reporting on this concert?
Led Zeppelin is my favorite band but they are not considered the first heavy metal band. They are stated to have provided the basis of heavy metal with they're hard rock sound. They are undeniably one of the greatest bands in history and the first hard rock band. Deep Purple is, literally, the fist heavy metal band.
@BradfordandLasso
Conratulations !
1:16 XD ROFLMAO

Amen..Im not sure why people go on and on about some of these band's ages...Honestly I would rather pay to go see an old great band...then some of the tripe the call rock nowadays.
@srv3563 i did a couple weeks ago, he still sounds great!
btw Les Paul still plays weekly at a club in NYC :)
@RockerForLife74 Bootle.! Seek out Third Eye Productions to start with. There are many different versions of the O2 show circulating now including a BluRay version.
@robdant i don't know if i offended you, sorry if i did, but i wasn't insulting zep in anyway, i said i love both bands, they are my two favorites. so i really don't know why you directed that comment towards me.
they pretty much created and inspired heavy metal
Good Point Cooleme! i live really close to paul rodgers i know his niece
@Voorhees67 Too true my friend too true!
@PAULOcbi All that studying by the drummer at an American drum school did him no good then. What about The Stones?
@XxleandraXX01
yes
sabbath (with Dio) & Zeppelin would rock even more !!!
but sadly RIP Dio
@PAULOcbi The performance is secondary? Thats the only reason I would have shown up. Yeah the event itself was cool and all but that zep set is why 99% of those people were there. spelling correction "....whilst the rest of us..."
That exactly? It's just a funny reaction, I'm not trying to poke fun at anybody or anything for that matter. Calm down.
I dont give a fuck either way but if youre arguing about who was the original Heavy Metal group...Blue Cheer had it all...the loudest, hairiest, meanest sound before Purple, Sabbath, Zep...check out their Summertime Blues on here and tell me im wrong!
