    - Do Not Deny God.

    - Do Not Engage in Incestuous, Adulterous or Homosexual Relationships.

As an atheist, I found it somewhat offensive. I'm a non-believer by choice, not because I'm a part of a master plan. It's patronizing. I understand that theists need to rationalize why someone wouldn't want to believe in a god, but this ain't it.

@@timothyw815 Your logic is flawed. You put together the FACT that it is friday with BELIEF that god exist. One is a FACT another is only a POSSIBILITY. It is exactly as to say that Gandalf from LOTR is as real as Joe Biden. You can believe he is, but one of them you can find only in the book and imaginations and another you can find in real world, just go to the states. You cannot therefore "recognize" existence of god couse you cannot touch him, smell him, taste him, see him, hear him etc you cannot take picture with him, cannot get him to help you in some home repairs etc so you can only BELIEVE he exist, forget about him and he stop exist, now forget about Joe Biden and he will exist just the same (at least for some time, he's quite old now:P)

@@timothyw815 Being non believer is having working logical mind and knowing that god MAY exist that it is a possibility and nothing more, just the same as infinite number of things MAY exist. Being a believer the other hand most of the time (like in your case) means that you think that something that MAY EXIST exist FOR CERTAIN, so you are in the wrong. The same as you are in the wrong if you think that existence of Gandalf is on the same level as existence of Joe Biden, or that Joe Biden need someone to beleive he exist so he can exist, which of course isn't true couse facts are facts whether someone beleive in them or not, now the other hand beliefs are still just beliefs even if you think they are facts. It is very simple and logical, but there are things that make some people throw away logic (fears or desires for example)

In Hebrew, the interviewer is saying "the world to come." This is not the same thing as the protestant view of heaven, so I believe it is a legitimate question, at least in Hebrew. When they are speaking English, I can only assume that the English-speaking Jews are still referring to the world to come when they say "heaven." I don't know though. This caught me off guard as well, and I had to rewind it to listen to the Hebrew word/phrase.

      I think that’s pretty straightforward.
Judaism is not a religion whose members are obsessed with what will happen to them after they die. Sometimes we talk about it, some of our scholars have written books on that topic but on a daily basis, we don't pray because we hope to go to Heaven as a reward. We do it because we love G-d and we know He loves us back. And also because we know that everyone, no matter what their beliefs (or non-beliefs) will end up in Heaven. In Christianity and Islam, the afterlife is rather simple: either Hell or Heaven, with a passage through Purgatory for the Catholics (if I'm not mistaken). In Judaism, it's kind of more complicated. I know that many Jews don’t agree on this, but all our texts talk about reincarnation, for example. And what you might call Hell is actually more a kind of purification of the soul, an emptiness one undergo when they gradually become aware that nothing exists apart from G-d. Basically. 😅

The last man who speaks might be on to something. As an atheist, I actually think about god and the possibility of god many times every day. I was born in a family that didn’t practice religion, although my father’s family is catholic.
So for me, I have kind of a blank canvass with which to look at this world and make my own mind up about what I believe.
Religion is taught. People are taught to believe in their bibles. That is why if there is a god and there is a heaven, it would make no sense that only a particular group of people get to go there. Because 99% of Jews come from Jewish parents. 99% of Christian’s have Christian parents. Same with Muslims, evangelists, etc…
So it would literally mean that if you aren’t born to Jewish parents or Christian parents or whatever other religion claims to be the only correct one, then your destiny would be hell the moment you’re born into the wrong family. What kind of God would do that?

@@shifrarosen8619 yeah but it's always been rather vague. there's life in the grave or sheol and a general concept of afterlife, but ascending to heaven was generally reserved to God's appointed, for instance with the story of enoch. I'm not saying it's impossible for a Jewish person to believe he will go to heaven, I'm saying the purpose of halaka is to show you how to live well, to give you a good life on earth, and a Jew doesn't to righteousness for the sake of entering paradise, but rather fur the sake of righteousness in and of itself.

Using the term "Righteous Gentile" is a loaded term. Many of us had to look up the significance of that term. For those that don't know, a "righteous Gentile" is someone who agrees to the 7 Noahide Laws, but even that's a misnomer...it's actually more than 7 laws now. A "righteous gentile" isn't a good person living a good life. It's a person who follows the Torah and Talmudic justifications and thinks that Jewish people are superior to any other race. I just thought that needed to be made clear.

@@riggingpots3453 You're very wrong on both accounts. Here is some evidence for what I said:
Righteous gentiles have a place in the world to come.
(Maimonides, Mishneh Torah, Hilchot Teshuvah 3:4 based on Tosefta Sanhedrin 13:1; Talmud Sanhedrin 105a)
It says (Job 37:23): "With justice and an a
bundance of kindness, He does not deal harshly." G-d does not withhold reward from gentiles who perform His commandments.
      (Jerusalem Talmud Peah 1:1)
(Leviticus 18:5) "Which man shall carry out and by which he shall live." Rabbi Yirmiyah would say: We see from here that even a gentile who fulfills his laws is like a [Jewish] high priest....
      (Midrash Sifra, Acharei Mot 9:13)
[Rabbi Akiva] would say: Beloved is man who was created in the divine image. An extra amount of love is given to him because he was created in the divine image as it says (Genesis 9:6) "For in the image of G-d He made man."
As for the claim that jesus said both Jews and gentiles inherit the kingdom of heaven, that is also false. Here is the evidence for that:
“Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. (matthew 10, 5-6)
“I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”...“It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” (matthew 15, 24-26)
As for the claim that christianity believes that non members go to heaven, that is also false:
Jesus said, “I am the truth, the way, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6)
“For unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins” (John 8:24)
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12, KJV)
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. (john 12, 48)
Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. (john 5, 23)
But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. (matthew 10, 33)
Just in case you're wondering why jesus' teachings were rejected, it's because he blatantly contradicted scripture. Here is an example:
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (john 14, 6)
      vs
      I am the LORD, that is My name;
I will not yield My glory to another,
Nor My renown to idols. (Isaiah 42, 8)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (john 1, 1)
      vs
Thus said the LORD, the King of Israel,
Their Redeemer, the LORD of Hosts:
I am the first and I am the last,
And there is no god but Me. (Isaiah 44, 6)
I and the Father are one.” (john 10, 30)
      vs
To whom can you compare Me
      Or declare Me similar?
To whom can you liken Me,
So that we seem comparable? (Isaiah 46, 5)

Galatians 3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (What happened before Jesus? )
Ephesians 4:17-19 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
Originally, Gentile was not a derogatory term. “Gentile” is simply. Gentile became synonymous with “sinful” the translation of the Hebrew word goy or the Greek word ethnos
JERUSALEM - Israeli Sephardic leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef in his weekly Saturday night sermon said that non-Jews exist to serve Jews. (Jerusalem Chronicle 2010)

I find the comments very interesting; not the racist comments but those that still display a certain sensitivity to other people's beliefs; tolerance is actually a very prevalent attitude amongst Jews; my Victorian Grandfather was a Jew; spoke Yiddish; lived through very, very difficult times. My Grandfather was one of the most gentle and understanding men I have ever known. I am 71; I look to God and I am a non-Jewish free-thinker; tolerance is a star within that belief-frame of mine. I follow rules and so many of those rules are found within the Talmud; they are the base-lines to other associated religions and also atheism so very, very often that the primary Hebrew sources must be very, very valid too. If you argue that Judaism is based upon pagan earlier religions, well, all of us are pagan without tolerance. Only the strong survive say those who support the survival of the fittest concept; Judaism has been around for a long, long time; have you?

I'm not part of the Abrahamic religions but i have studied the history of them in some depth.
It is interesting that Judaism has the kindest attitude towards non-jews in their traditional beliefs, despite the rather tempetuous snd vengeful God of the Jewish Bible - and hard to understand why Islam developed so many very harsh attitudes instead. It shows up mostly in the hadith, and less the Quran. But some of them are incredibly nasty.
I'm really surprised that Sunni Muslims haven't had a major religious movement to discard the hadith. Instead Quranists are persecuted and criticized. And the kinder Islamic sects like the Ibadi are small and marginal.
If i were Muslim, i would be demanding reform.

      @Paula Wallace Isaiah 53
53: 1Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
