An AM radio tuned off frequency is an easy way to find a short. When you get close to the short you will hear it popping over the radio. The closer you get, the louder it is. Just like a thunderstorm. Thanks for the videos !

I used old Brake Shoe Springs instead of Ratchets to tighten the wire. I used several of them on each run and found they stretched and sprung back. I believe the stretching saved breaks.
Well this is the first time I did not learn anything from one of your videos. Thats because you fence exactly the way I did when I milked Jersey cows 20+ years ago. I used the same gate handle, rachet, insulators and T-post. Nice easy method. I only used one strand. My pasture was across the road from my barn. So every time I brought them in for milking I just ran two strings across the road.
We use HT fence and barb wire. On the ht I run 4 lines one at 16in 26in 36in and 48in. Have a spring hook to the strainer with 150 lb pressure on the lines. Deer run thought it all the time with no damage. Some of my insulator have came off but it is rare. The bracing has to be good ( double H most the time) I keep around 7k-8k volts on the lines seem to work good. Imo Your method seem superior if fence is ever going be move ,but for your perimeter fence I upgrade to HT with wood post.i would say the size wire your using is 14ga or less ht wire is 12.5 comes on 2000ft/4000ft rolls that require a Jenny to unroll.
We had a '53 Super C with wide front, a Freeman loader on it and no Fast Hitch. I had a '52 Tricycle one here in PA, but sold it for more room in my Morton building.
Pete, have you ever penciled out the difference in cost between splicing your hot wire with another short piece of wire when it breaks, rather than the splicing clamps and the special tools? Or if you have done the math and cheaper wasn't the biggest decision point, what do you find is the advantage of using the clamps as opposed to traditional fence mending?
Sir I have 10 acre land I will plant forages like super napier grass .Full confinement only using electric fence energiser gallagher brand. 20 cows only. I will use also 12 gauge galvanised wire 25 kilos with using multi fit insulators and wood screw insulators with spinning jenny I purchased in amazon
Hi Craig, we used to use a tractor mounted auger, but now we hire a neighbor who has a vibrating post pounder mounted on a small excavator. That thing is awesome! Drives posts in 3' deep in no time and they are so much tighter than in an augered hole. In fact we have to drive a bunch of posts to make a new bull yard in a few weeks & I am going to do a video on it.
@@ajoshmiller keeping the bulls separate on a small farm is a pain. It's best if they are kept out of sight and smelling distance from the cows but that's just not possible when land is limited. When our cows go out to pasture to calve we keep the bulls in the winter pasture but they whine all the time because they can see the cows past their fence. And now we have to keep the bulls separate during the winter too, so they don't breed the heifers we plan on sending to the butcher. That's why we're building a separate bull yard. More to come on that...
I wonder if another bigger predator scent wld drive that little weasel away?? Like fox racoons or even eagle or hawk. Those little things will kill just kill. Spitball in
If you ever use a 100 mile charger on 1/2 mile of tape fence, whatever you do, do not put a hand on the rim of a metal water trough and have your thigh touch the tape or wire. That Freaking HURT!!!! Left a large welt too.

Hi Donald, ours is a '53 also. Great tractor for doing odd jobs.
You could try getting some foot traps for the weasels. I think you can set them up the same way you would a fox set. Just an idea

Hi Corey, certainly that would be cheaper. We spend about $10 per year in crimps.

1.33 lbs per foot steel T posts are worth the money over the 1.25 pound posts

You got it wrong my friend. Your cross brace should be at the bottom of the corner post.
No sir. Not with the T-post system. The braces work in compression rather than tension.
