I love how Soldier uses a flashy type of kendo fighting style while Sniper uses a some sort of fighting style that is similar to Eskrima (i mean look how he parries his swords with his hands, thats something you would see in eskrima)

The way the Sniper looks away for a second was _really_ good. It's a fast, instinctual motion, that he corrects almost immediately. Good job!
the animation is fantastic, but I don't think this is Saxxy material. Use your amazing fight animating skills to make a video with more of a story. This video feels more like the ending of a longer video than a standalone video
Saxxy entrys have to be under 5 minutes.

While I agree with you on some level, this is an entry for the action category, so a good sense of action is important, not the story. A premise and a bit of a story is good, too, and that's what the first minute or so is for. Besides, Meet the Dumpster Diver had no story at all, and look how successful that was in the 2012 Saxxy Awards!

If only Spy had gotten there at 7:00 A.M., cased the restaurant, and ran background checks on the staff. He wouldve found that the cook couldnt be trusted, killed him, disposed of the body, replaced him with his own guy, no later than 4:30.
Oooh there's a lotta criticism just reading these comments. The animation, as well agree, is so drop dead gorgeous that Valve might as well hire you just for that. As far as I am concerned, this was for action category right? Last year's action winner didn't even make any proper sense at all.
[SFM 2013 Saxxy Winner] Chinatown Getaway incase you guys are wondering. It was even more cheesy, with some kung fu scout taking on an entire army.
Here it is way more believable, 2 deadly assassins fighting over each other. The moves are awesome and the best part for me is that they aren't trying to show off. A lot of action SFMs are just characters showing off moves which are totally unnecessary but here it was like the two characters were trying everything they could to take the other down. It felt more real and personal. Ending was also really great and made the SFM even more enjoyable.
One criticism I see is story, but since this is for action I presume, we have to stop talking about story. There is more story in this than in the last winner. We can't keep saying "Oh there isn't enough story". That in fact helps this video more than others think. These are two secretive assassins whose stories will never be heard. And like I say, this is ACTION, not STORY. Do people watch Expendables for story? In terms of the fight scenes, I thought the music was great for this. The music made it feel more like an epic struggle rather than just some crappy average fight scene. There is only one problem I got with this, and it is the fight sounds. The grunts are perhaps overused, and what I really really wanted was to hear some impact sounds, like bones cracking or when you could hear the soldier smashing the snipers face in. At times, it felt a little "soft".
Overall, I totally disagree with what most people say here. I believe that you have a really good chance of winning the Action Category, and this is absolutely 100% Saxxy Material.
Thanks for the support :) I agree with you, I wish I put a little more into the story at the beginning... And as for the grunt sounds, I suppose I added a lot to make the hits feel heavier and the fight more painful, but I'm only just realizing how silly it sounds

Don't worry the story was fine. People who are complaining don't understand how to create art. Leaveing the story up for interpation is a writing tool and it made me vote for sniper only because he wanted to go home after the assassination and got randomly attacked only because the other guy failed his missions. The Grunting was only noticable when people mentioned it. After reading comments i cant unnoticed them now. The music was also great it added more suspense to go alone with the action we all watched. Good video keep it up.

I don't care what anyone says, I absolutely loved this! This fight scene put me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
There were many moments where I thought the fight was over only for one of them to find a way to pull through. I am happy with who won at the end and the pun was great as well.

Actually, there were. A few of the fight moves are copied directly from the Batman: Arkham Origins trailer. There's also some Lord of the Rings and Sleeping Dogs inspiration :)

In all seriousness though, i like this animation way more than pretty much any SFM animation, and one of the many reasons that is is because of the way it conveys how desperately Sniper is fighting for his life, it's awesome.

I notice a trend in 75% of all sfm movies. Spy, scout and sniper. Are always to come on top. Soldiers are usually to die first and are treated like 3 month old babies put in fully grown mans body. Heavy never uses minigun only shotgun. Engineer is usually buried under his sentry which magically misses main hero. This is not just to winglet. it is basically to 75% of all guys who make Sfm's. Listen we all appreciate dur works and we like them. but we do not want you guys to follow same base routine.

So basically 3 minutes of the soldier missing clear strikes on the sniper because he's doing all these fancy spins and movements and stuff, even though he could've hit him quite easily if he had just kept going instead of stopping to spin again or something, and then a bunch of times when the sniper gets thrown down to the concrete ground yet gets up as if the ground was made of foam. Then the typical moment where the one guy takes his time before killing the other guy, and basically waits until the guy who was about to get killed does something to prevent it from happening. Always happens in movies and stuff... the one guy tries so hard to kill the other guy, and when he finally is able to, he waits, and then the guy who was about to die looks around and finds some sort of object around him that he can use to kill the guy about to kill him.
Well if it was realistic, the fight would be like 5 seconds long :P
It could have been sort of like, the soldier chases the sniper through town and causes a lot of havoc along the way, then the soldier finally catches him or corners him or something and then the fight scene happens. It could have been the same as the fight scene in here, but just a bit shorter. A fight scene that lasts that long just because the people keep blocking every single hit even though it wouldn't be that easy gets sort of boring to watch.
ThatOtherGuy I agree, it was way too long and dragged on. I like your idea of more chaos caused in the chase. I also think I should have added a bit of a prologue and flesh out the reasons for the assassination. So much I would change if I did this again... haha

I love the attention to detail. You can see that the sniper is far less proficient and experienced when it comes to sword play, but is far more experienced in hand-to-hand combat (including the use of knives).
Fan-fucking-tastic my friend. I love it.
Smooth animation, nice detail here and there, good lighting/shading and the effects are amazing.
I will vote for you in the upcoming Saxxy awards good sir. But while we're here, let me say a few things:

*Great Quality
*Transitions nicely
*Camera angles are perfectly placed
*Lighting/Shading fits well with the scenery
*Using music that fits with the scene
*Using official sounds instead of fake ones [ that usually sound shitty ( no offense to anyone )]
*Custom models/Blood decal really adds to the "beaten" look on each merc
*All-around Great looking video
CONS:
*Minor explanation needed to give the viewers a sense of what they're watching
*Some, not all, of the voices need to either be toned down or up
Keep doing what you're doing, because you're damn good at it!

I dont know what elements saxxy look for when nominating a sfm, but for me, this was just a 30-second story and 4-minute fighting. Definitely not hating, the fighting was awesome, all the moves are smooth and creative.
