When I got VMP’s email announcing this release, my jaw dropped. I actually cannot believe they’re releasing this thing. The world definitely does not need yet another super ultra deluxe limited remastered expanded remixed revamped repackaged edition of this f*cking album. Analogue Productions JUST released a $125+ UHQR for God’s sake, not to mention the mass-market remastered edition and all the “audiophile” editions before that. There are SO many great albums out there that deserve this kind of lavish treatment. We don’t need the 87th super deluxe edition of the same album yet again.
VMP makes a lot of dumb decisions and this was up there for me. Talk about milking a cow after it’s already been milked to death. Put that up there with John Michael Montgomery.
the plant was sued by VMP (turns out they didn't own the plant) and its been moved to furnace or RTI.... i still like VMP for a lot of the stuff they own... but I immediately thought "wait a minute this is mostly just a compilation of everything else"
I vote with my dollars. I refuse buy LPs/box sets, where the only "added value" is alternate takes that weren't good enough to make it onto the original album. I don't mind paying for an artist's best effort. But I don't want pay JUST to hear them "practice getting it right". That is what a documentary film is for,.
It's a fantastic bit of history...not the place to start one's Coltrane journey but go in knowing the circumstances of it's recording and it's totally enjoyable.
@@bobsbigboy_ There is nothing unusually "cringe" about it. This sort of thing has been going on for decades, if not centuries. "Caveat emptor" - buyer beware. Quit whining and be less gullible.
@Peoria19581 I read the write up also, I know what it is. While not technically the same material as a normal picture disc it is definitely a glorified double picture disc. You are right though, it’s a manufactured collectible and will probably increase in value. I don’t buy records for that purpose though.
This is for people new to vinyl and new to hearing about the classics that everyone in vinyl talks about. This box set is for people who have Adele and Taylor swift records friend

I can see some folks wanting this that really love the album, but for most people I think your analysis is pretty spot on. - Chris

Thanks for this excellent analysis /dissection of this box set. Very helpful to know. Great video!

I have the UHQR, who needs this? No one
Automatic avoid. Thanks for this analysis
Agreed! Overkill. No more A Love Supreme!!! VMP is notorious for overpricing these boxsets. I hope this doesn’t become a trend in jazz vinyl.
Hell, the CD is $100.00 on amazon...

But the poster! And the photo! - sold separately 😂 Kidding aside this feels like an unnecessary “big” project.
This rant is 100% spot on. Has VMP finally jumped the shark?
Finally?? They jumped the shark years ago.
Good take. Similar thoughts here…
Thank for watching! I love your channel!
Maybe I’m the only one who thinks Live in Seattle is fantastic?

Had the runs 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for acknowledging my terrible jokes haha!
I agree with most of what you said, but don’t understand why you would feel upset about it. Just don’t buy it.
Because some people aren’t happy unless they’re complaining about some goofy-ass first world problem every five minutes
I think that what he is saying is that it is unnecessary and a little misleading. Great video imo.
you completely missed the point lol. Its cringe that companies try to bribe gullible people like this

I think this upcoming Dark Side of the Moon 2 disc UV edition is a bigger offender as far as cash grab of the year goes
You may be right!

$400 for an into to the classics?!?!
