- Emax Tinyhawk Turtle Mode Props and Project Mockingbird Settings! Get turtle mode to work using these 4-bladed props. Why Emax didn't include them with the drone is beyond me. I also show you how easy it is to significantly improve the flight performance of the Tinyhawk by applying Project Mockingbird settings. It's as easy as copy and paste.

I've done this upgrade also pulled my antennas out for better reception but haven't had time to do a video with the upgrades, I have the out of the box video posted and will try to make the upgraded one soon, thanks for sharing and glad to see you back making wonderful videos 👍😎👍
Glad you mentioned the antenna Herb. My reception has been fine but the DVR footage is affected. Taking mine out right now.
I haven't tried the Mockingbird settings yet, but will do it today after watching this. My Tinyhawk needs a little help when it comes to flying outdoors, lol. Great information buddy, thanks for sharing!!!

Good day GI, I would like to request if you can make a video installing EACHINE PRO DVR in EMAX Transporter goggles. Im a budget drone fan and its a big help if you could teach me and the others on a hectic budget experiencing a goggles with DVR.

Nice video and glad to see the tinyhawk come to life. I notice your cam is much lower angle than mine, did you change the angle on your camera? I don't see the frame on mine. I have to angle mine pretty hard to be able to see the ground while flying. I own the TinyHawk S. Have you done the Mod to an S model yet? Will it help the S model perform better? Even on 2S?
I never got a hold of the S. I really didn't change the angle of the camera, but I did notice that there is a little slot under the canopy there where the camera fits into and it pops out of there sometimes. The camera angle is less acute when in that slot and that's how I usually keep it. I could totally adjust the angle though by putting some foam or something in there to increase the angle.
@@GadgetInspector I wonder if it has something to do with the Camera Angle settings in BetaFlight. I see that mockingbird does change it to 12. I have my tinyhawk s at defaults and this setting is a 0. I'll give a shot at using mockingbird on the THS and let you know my findings. Thanks for the prompt reply.

@@GadgetInspector I watched a video from Joshua Bardwell and the setting has something to do with the yaw mixing apparently. I'm new to quads and betaflight so still learning what each setting does. My biggest issue with my quad is the camera angle is alot higher than yours. Like in your video I can see your quad frame on the bottom but on mine I don't see anything of the quad which forces me to pitch more in order to see the top and bottom of the horizon but then my quad flies alot faster. Outdoors it's fine but to fly Indoors I cannot, it's too fast.
if i do need to rebind the tinyhawk to the rtf stock controller, how do i do that?
Power the rtf controller, hold the throttle and pitch trim buttons simultaneously. Press the rebind button on the quad
What is all that flickering/flashing? Is it the vtx signal?
palaHD Yeah, the signal was clear in the goggles but glitches in the dVR. I have since pulled the antenna out of the canopy so we’ll see if that helps. Changing the channel did not help much.
But why does this happen? If you can see the live video fine, why isn't the recorded video exactly the same that you watch?

I’ve upgraded to the 16500 KY motors and 4 blade props, props have arrived but waiting for motors which should arrive in a couple days, will update with the mockingbird settings and will let you know how I get on. Liked and subbed

That's a good idea. Mine hasn't moved around at all, but the way I bash this thing it probably will.
Only problem is the 25mw video has never worked well in my area. Too much noise I guess. I upgraded my last mini quad to 100mw and it was a lot better. Nice video
Yep, as you can see it does not play nice with the DVR in my goggles either. The live feed is not perfect but decent at least. Sub-par VTX in this model.
The most reliable way that ive found to get the props off without breaking stuff is to use a small, flat screwdriver and break the centers out of the props (the 3 little spokes). Yeah you kill the prop but props are way cheaper than the motors
Geez, you have a point but dang, we shouldn't have to do all of that. My turtle mode props are staying on until they break just so I don't have to do that again.

@@GadgetInspector been considering fpv for a while now and I just wish they made a proper one like this one you modified by that comes out of the factory 🏭 working properly. Was thinking of getting the geprc tinygo but you have to rely on banggood or other Chinese websites where it takes forever to ship one over. Just wish USA 🇺🇸 companies would make one. I was looking into rotor riot but then the rigs seem a little too high end and not really rtf with everything you need out of the box. I think USA companies need to step up. Do you know of any USA companies that have something rtf you can buy and have shipped quickly?
Try getfpv.com. I used to shop banggood and gearbest constantly and got tired of the long shipping times. And.....if something goes wrong you're basically screwed. BetaFPV actually just reached out to me recently about reviewing their all in one RTF so I'll be posting something on that. Not sure if they shipped it to me yet though.

I wish I had the Jumper V2 then I most certainly would.
Once you copy and paste mockingbird into the cli, can't you change the code to read profile 3&4 (vs. profile 1&2) so you can still keep the original settings to switch back to W/o having to go back to the computer? It does come with OSD right?

Strange, I flashed my firmware to the latest 4.1.0 using configurator 10.6.0. In Receiver tab i show all of my controls working, but when i plug in a battery, my tinyhawk controls seem to be incorrect. Any ideas?

So, I just received my tinyhawk today. I usually fly a stock inductrix whoop for indoor racing but I wanted to try it. So, I'm planning on flying mostly in stability mode. Initially it's super slow to roll and pitch. So recovery indoors really isn't an option. I've heard good things about mockingbird but never tried it.
Would you say that stability mode's snappiness was improve greatly by this swap? It didn't look like you were testing in stab is why I ask.

Not really. Might be a little shorter, but not by much.

Try pulling the antenna out of the canopy. There's a little slot behind the camera that it'll fit through if you're careful. I haven't tested whether the dVR footage improves yet, but the picture in the goggles is even better now.
So if the 4 blade props make more thrust. Does that mean the 4 blade props make it slightly faster overall?
I really can’t say for certain but I would presume so. I think the project mockingbird settings have more to do with it but the props probably makes it faster as well. Flight time is shortened but who cares? I have plenty of batteries.

Should be....I made this a while ago, but I think I walk through everything in the video. If you are new to Betaflight I suggest watching a few videos on it to become more familiar. Also, I believe I show this in the video, but make sure you save the stock settings before making any changes. That way you can always go back to stock.

I try to never drop below 3 to 3.1 volts.
@@GadgetInspector gotcha. so i did the PMB config but when i tried arming it, it won't arm. I did exactly what you did, "copy and paste" what did i do wrong?
Hard to say without seeing it. Is your arm switch setup right in BF and on your transmitter?

Yea you need to get it setup through betaflight. The thing flies pretty good stock but as you can see it flies waaaayy better with PM settings.

I went back to the hobby shop i bought it from asking them to help me ..they even do all this stuff and refuse to do it..so here i am ..not gona join a club just to have fun they tried telling me i need a trainer when i know darn well the mini hawk was set up crappy to begin with
You can ..on most androids.. .with on the goes usb..my tiny hawk flys awsome now....but i aso found out betaflight is down loaded on the rtf hawks and can all be done via goggles and rx ..just takes longer to do
If your DVR is showing glitches and in real time not? you did not update your fatshark with the januari 2019 upgrade. (that's if you have a fatshark) check out this link if your model is supported intofpv.com/t-fatshark-dvr-firmware-update-fixes-dropped-frames
You seem like a smart person so I am gonna ask my dvr question to you. My dvr skips a lot of frames at random moments, could a slow sd card be the cause?
@@bartbergman4812 the manual does not mention anything about SD card requirements. I guess you could try other cards but it's all low analog sd quality so not HD demanding material. Format the card first? Perhaps simply a defective SD card. Search for H2testw it's a nice simple tool to check SD cards. P.s. I'm not smart, I Google a lot :-)
