One thing I must applaud Ding for is that he didn’t withdraw. The fact that he’s fighting despite whatever he’s going through is warrior mentality. I wouldn’t underestimate him
Let us all hope that both players can play to their very best form (especially Ding can recover his best form and confidence now) so that the matches are not boring nor 1-sided and may the best player win.
Watched the entire thing and noticed there are two ways of replying: Ding: answer the question exactly and to the point Gukesh: Introduction, answer, Conclusion Of course, one is more fluent in English than the other but still, was interesting to watch 😅
People saying Magnus should’ve played , forget it’s a two person event. They also forgot how boring Nepo v Magnus was 😂 🤦🏽♀️ Nepo leaving his seat empty, drawing most times with high accuracy play nevertheless but so many draws , making blunders, Magnus getting shocked and insulted by blunders 😅 was some weird event! Nepo v Ding was actually super exciting to watch with all the ups and downs - it really felt like a battle ! So I’m happy to watch Guki v Ding. I think it will be more entertaining for sure
Are people still hung up on Magnus giving up his championship? I don't think it is a popular opinion anymore.. he just wants to slowly phase out and retire from classical chess which makes sense. It is something all chess players have to choose at some point. Ding & Nepo was interesting and Nepo vs magnus did have a lot of draws but that really speaks to the style of play from Ding vs Nepo where Ding went for more risky positions to force an imbalance and go for the win. I expect Gukesh to go for the win as well so I hope he wins it with some really cool concepts and ideas! Hope for a long set too! :)
Dude, watch games of 100 rated players, I am sure you will find them super exciting with all those ups and downs... I don't think high level games are for you...
One thing I would really want is Ding to be speaking in his language- Mandarin or Cantonese. I am sure they can get a translator. Make him more comfortable first.
Best of luck to Ding - hope he gets his confidence back. Good luck also to Gukesh, such a young prodigy on top of being a well-spoken and kind young guy!
Ding is just so likeable, hes so humble and I hope the very best for him. Im happy to hear that many people are there to show him support and that RIchard Rapport is again at his side. Go Ding! wise words about winnign the last not the first necessarily.

With the current form, Gukesh haa the edge but Ding in his prime was a monster of his own, I will never count him down until the end... Last time's championship is a clear example, Nepo was winning throughout the tournament, Ding hardly was balancing the score and in the end, *BOOM* Ding won... I wish both of them give their best here...
Best of luck and wishes to Gukesh and Ding, we are excited to see a great tournament and put your best and enjoy the game as well. As a fan I wish Gukesh to win, but Support Ding too.
Imagine if this was like a boxing match press conference - Ding and Gukesh up in each other's faces, seconds leaping onto the stage to keep them apart, Maurice shouting "gentlemen, please!" as he gets bowled over in the mêlée.
Some says that this is not the “real” world championship match. I think that this is the best WC match. It’s going to be unpredictable, lots of flaws but moments of brilliance, dramatic, and a great storyline. Magnus vs Fabiano match, honestly, was pretty boring and predictable.
22:24 bro what-?? Ah, I see where the confusion is coming from! In chess, a "second" does not refer to a unit of time like seconds or minutes. It’s a term used to describe a person who assists a chess player, especially during important tournaments or matches. So, a "second" in chess is like an assistant or coach, not related to time.
Gukesh must not feel intimidated being in Singapore, and... Almost all oriental background. Best wishes to Gukesh, he is the favourite to win. May chess win!
I'd love to see Ding recover and manage to win. But yet I'd also love to see Gukesh win as well (was thrilled he won the Candidates)! So lets just hope for a great match with some highlights like game 6 last time around!
The very thing that Ding is fighting instead of withdrawing means he has something up his sleeve to befuddle Gukesh. It would be interesting to see how Ding is going to hoodwink Gukesh.
With this press conference, I can confidently say that we will surely get to witness the old version of ding which we lost due to his mental health. And Gukesh as usual looks calm and best to his form. All the very best to both the players for the championship ahead.
I got into chess cause of gukesh but honestly I wish ding can at least defend his title well... I'm hoping to see the 2019 ding against the as usual calm & composed gukesh...
