Another Side, Another Story: You get this by sealing every keyhole, finding all 99 Dalmations, and beating the Hades Cup. Then you must beat the final boss.

I didn't live those days, very interesting information.
It's kinda still like that. Everyone thought KH3 would be a dark and gritty war for fans who became adults since they played the first game as kids. Instead we got BBS with Bibity Bobity Boo theme sucking out our souls and ice cream stacking mini games, and actual KH3 had things like instagram loading screens and candycrush mini games.
And Kairi stopped being a waifu to become a weird-haired 9 year old.
Nomura's secret ending modus operandi:
-Show cool scenes
-Confuse the hell out of everyone with cryptic messages
Step 3: Fail to make the actual scene even close to as cool in the game it appears in.

I’d argue KH3 did this better, without utilizing any CGI cutscenes or secrete endings to do it bring the scenes to life. If you don’t like it more power to you, however, I’d argue the lighter tone for the series with moments that’s are darker was the right way to go. Allows for all ages to enjoy it.
@@Daddyvader7 it probably was the w right direction, yes. But I still think it would’ve been cool to follow this direction all the same. And while it may be movie footage, it was still *on* the PS2. The system was clearly capable of running it.
@@Daddyvader7 KH3 was horrible with cutscenes. Characters just look stilted. There was no good camera work like in KH1 and KH2. Secret ending was really bad. Nothing happened. There was no fight.
This Advent Children styled secret endings really do hit the mark! I love it!

Final Fantasy team are better at making games becuase they are veterans. Osaka was not and will never hit that mark.

@@urnuste It doesn't not have combat on par with KH2. Kh2 is unique with air and ground combos. KH3 you just do the same combo in the air and ground without noticing you have ever landed on the ground. Attacks feel light and airy. Osaka does not have polish or enough experience to add substance to the game. Like reaction commands. They don't have time for that or adding cutscenes with FF characters because they are still inefficient with their time. If it was the OG team they would be able to put FF, mechanics, etc and whatever checklist makes a KH game. Osaka didn't add anything in place of reaction commands or FF characters, pooh world mini games or colosseum. It's just cut content because of lack of skill developing. KH3 Secret ending was the most unepic thing in KH history. Go back and watch KH1 and 2 secret ending. Quality isn't just in their CGI but everywhere else for the OG team. OG knows how to make their game. Osaks doesn't know how to make OGs FF games which is what KH1 and 2 were. Osaka had no backlog when handed the KH assets. It went from Production Division 1(FF/KH) to Division number 5 (Osaka). They have no IP to back them up but 1 or 2 failed PS1 titles. Look at Samurai Legends Musashi compared to KH1. It's God awful and these are the people who were handed KH. Fans are suckers and will always buy the title. Not an actual good KH game. FF team translated Nomura's nonsense into something comprehensible and fun. Now Nomura sounds like an air head with his god-awful writing with nobody checking his work. His OG team is what made KH interesting. Not Osaka or Nomura's shit writing.
Looking back at this now, My ten year old mind back then had no idea what was going on. Little did we know this trailer was showcasing one of the most important scenes in the entire series. Also, one of the last spoken lines in KH2.

I don't know. To me it seems like the team made this before the full story was drafted to get people hyped and then panicked when they found out they actually needed to incorporate everything from the trailer in the game proper.

@@Sleepy12ftPanda I share that thought! despite the mess, I really appreciate how the team managed to close the loose ends with KH3, so in the end, they tracked all the subplots and bring them to a conclusion. Not that I really understand what the villains and the protagonists are talking about, but eh, I don't care anymore since the game is amazing.

anyone else get that feeling at 1:19 when Kairi is looking up at the sky, of pure amazement to the fact that, That's the ending of Kingdom Hearts 2 after both Sora and Riku defeated Xemnas and they were falling back down to Destiny's Island after going through the Door of Light that opened when Kairi's letter was read out loud.............(sighh) Kingdom Hearts is incredible.....

The secret endings of all endings. This still gives me chills. From when I was 12 to now, that I’m 32. Still makes me teary eye. To experience such a game, to see it unfold all these years. A masterpiece.
Also, when I first saw this, I was like........WTF? It has a COMPLETELY different atmosphere compared to everything that happens in the first Kingdom Hearts game. It feels so different. Badass, but out of place XD

I remember it did for me. Too bad Nomura pulled this shit out of nowhere, he litrally just made a cool-looking teaser. All the text on screen actually IS in KH2, but it was added as a last minute change to keep consistency, when this movie was made Nomura had nothing planned for the future.
It did for me, I was hyped. Literally was shaking with excitement. No secret ending has left me as excited as this one. Kh2 secret ending came very close, but this one takes the cake hands down. Lucky for me Kh2 released like a month later when I first saw this so I didnt have to wait long. Kh2 completely lived up to the expectations. I don't think kh3 did though :/

Because it was the same original team. "From the staff of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children." They don't have that kind of talent and budget now from the Osaka Team or CG visual department.
I love Kairi's tube top and short skirt combo. It really captures the vibe of living on the beach while also allowing square to show off the cgi because the the tight minimalistic outfit allows her long loose hair to take the spotlight as it flows in the breeze. These factors, along with her positioning on screen, the ambient sounds and the simple environment, just creates a beautiful scene that is still etched in my mind all these years later.
You know, some people always discuss if KH's over complicated story was like this from the beginning or not.
THIS basically confirms that it was indeed. And that makes me respect Tetsuya Nomura even more. (despite whatever everyone says about him)
Ive played the whole series multiple times and you can definitely feel it was planned out. I feel like the people who say KH is too complicated havent played the games.
I feel like certain things weren't but I do believe he had a framework set before actually proceeding mainly because he had already made the stories of some Final Fantasy games.
KH1 was basically him holding himself back, the secret ending is probably the balls to the wall crazyness he wanted the first game to be.

It blows my mind that just after a lighthearted and fun story in KH1, this trailer shows you that things are not yet over and are bound to get darker.

I love how edgy the secret endings were. They knew exactly where they wanted to take the series, yet they still gave us the cheesiness of the first kingdom hearts lol. Love it either way. I think KH2 was the best game in the series so far.

@John John It was Kairi, but an early design of her grow up version that appears in KH2, the meteors are probably people falling from the Door of Light like in the ending of the second game.
I thought it was the ending or start of Kingdom Hearts 2. It's clearly kairi older so the only speculation was it's kairi from the next title.
Coming back to this, it's so much more Final Fantasy, dark, and dramatic than the actual game was. Same with Birth By Sleep.

I love how the opening of Kingdom Hearts 2 re used some of the imagery in this secret ending, like Sora in the middle of nowhere before the intro to Chain of Memories and that one shot of him flying above the sea.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has this for the ending and secret ending, mixed with the new graphics, but I’d say it’s a better compromise because the game itself besides for the opening, ending, and secret ending never looked too great. KH3 made it look great in almost every scene.
The "third enemy" text hints at the existence of Unversed as the first enemy, followed by the Heartless and then the Nobody.
The foreshadowing is insane!

It essentially is a nod to it . Nemura gave a recent interview and gave a little hint that the world that never was city , is just a memory that xehanort had and designed that world in that image . So it’s not too far off if it’s quadratum / versus inspired now

I think nomura didn't really prepare his story, all he thought was, let's make a cool trailer first and let's improvise from that point, and add more plots as we improvise. While I appreciate that he managed to tie all the loose ends in KH3, but the plot is either incredibly complex, or actually simple but unnecessarily convoluted. If there's one character that reflects the player, it's axel, I laughed so hard when he mentioned that the plot is so complicated hahahaha.
Is there any other game aside KH that spans for a decade with various sequels and prequels where the stories are deeply interconnected? Or Kingdom hearts is the first game in history ever?

That's actually the problem with Nomura. Even his staff expressed that he is incredibly stubborn and chooses to make cool trailers instead of a plot to go along with it, often leading for him to somehow tie in those trailers to plots disregarding if it makes sense or flows well with the story, it's pretty much the reason the KH plot is as convoluted as it is, there's little to no planning, often leading to retcons.

@@eriol33 In this case specifically I think he at least had a general idea for it. The explanation for this in 2 was pretty understandable until kh 358/2 changed it completely, and in some concept art Roxas looked older (which would explain his look here).

Disney clearly is all for adapting their properties into new movies, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do, and you know, I would love that. A full film series spanning 20 years with countless side stories and interconnected parts, films with different styles and genres but all still working in the end, and all culminating in a cinematic cultural milestone for the history books :D

This is one of my favourite things about the kh series. Secrets! In kh1 there's the secret endings which are foreshadowing for kh2 and 358/2 also the unknown fight which is xemnas. in kh2 there is the lingering will, and secret endings foreshadowing bbs. in that game there is the mysterious figure boss which turns out to be young xehanort. hidden sneak peaks of future games in secret endings or bosses are so cool to me!

Did you notice that when Roxas throws his Keyblade to Riku, Roxas still has dual blades when they clash seconds later?
I noticed Roxas pulls out Oathkeeper first before Oblivion here, when in games released later he pulls out Oblivion first. Am I the only one that noticed this?
You get the first by beating the Hades Cup, sealing all key holes, and getting 99 dalmations. You must then beat the game.
You get the second one by completing the Journal 100%. It will then completely replace the first secret ending once you beat the game.
TealhollowGaming i dont think you need to beat hades cup. I didnt and i got both endings. :)
Easier if you play on Critical mode, all you need to do is close all the keyholes, get all dalmations and finishing all the cups. No need to 100% the journal like in normal mode.

After watching 358/2 days I instantly came here! I knew it looked familiar! After beating KHFM, I watched this in amazement thinking how cool it’d be to see this in a game. Little did I know. Square CGI as well was just so ahead of it’s time. This shit looks great!
I might've known this when I was a 15-year-old when KH1 came out, and in the years leading up to the 2006 release of KH2.... but, since then, I've thought THIS secret ending battle was part of KH2's secret ending, and I've spent the noon hours today researching the entire franchise -- including the convoluted story of all the "smaller" game/movie releases (so many prequels and stories that are both interquels/midquels, yikes), that I purposefully stayed away from until now... lol.
Anyway, something brought me some clarity and I had an inkling to look up what KH1's secret ending was, and voila. Now this battle makes sense, knowing the story of KH: 358/2.
It's a pity that the game did not take this path for KH3...

I've just finished KH1FM for the first time. It's my only experience with the entire series other than seeing tweets and trailers for the various games. I enjoyed it, but took it as some fun shenanigans, an ending that was a bit over the top ('this isn't even my final form' comes to mind), and left me with a measured desire to play the rest of the series. I didn't 100% the game though due to lack of time, so I watched these videos as part of the KH All in One's theatre mode, and that was when shit got real for me xD
This secret ending is so damn different from the rest of the game, that's one reason why I'm in love with it, but also, there are things in this trailer that hint at things many years in the future. With how many games there are, and how convoluted I've heard the plot is, I had the impression the developers just added stuff as time went on without any sort of overall story plan, but this trailer suggests it was all planned all along, and that blows my mind! I'm mindblown right now! Simply amazing :D

This makes me wonder if Kairi is our first connection to Quadratum and is the reason for “kingdom hearts” diverging from what was “pre-destined”. The way i see it, she is the reason Sora was able to master the power of waking, if he didnt have Kairi to chase after then he would have been content in a lot of his losses and stopped pushing forward in my opinion. Very far off theory but what if we actually saw a scene between the “Other Kairi” and a mysterious figure in the first secret movie, another side, another story, where Kairi and Riku lost Sora, a world without their own guiding light. So Kairi retreats to the land of sleep, to a far off memory where none of this is real and its all Kairi’s personal Quadratum, maybe Kairi was the first to cross with the power of waking and get kicked out of her home world and needed to find a way back? A way to reconnect hearts

I like to imagine what a KH fan from 2002 would think if another fan from today went back in time and explained the whole story of the series till the end of KH3 with yozora. I think they wouldn't be any more confused as a person who follows the story today to be honest.

@@cloudshines812 That Multiverse would have had a really shit Kingdom Hearts 2 then. The worlds are a re-hash of the Kingdom Hearts 1 worlds and outside of the Castle Oblivion stuff, it doesn't really feel like a "full" game.

I just noticed, the only main line entry that has Sora end with everybody else is KH2 when he shows up at Destiny Islands with Riku, KH1 has him with just Donald, Goofy and Jiminy, and KH3 has him... Alone....

@@briankelly130 yeah Xemnas is kinda the light that Xehanort had as Ansem is the darkness. Xemnas intentions before being Brett Con'd weren't necessarily bad he just went about it in the worst way possible
