    Growing up in a Russian household in the USA I didn’t understand why my parents and grandparents drank kefir. Once I grew up and realised not only the probiotic benefits but also the whey protein content in kefir. One life way bottle (4 cups) has about 44g of protein. Never drank protein shakes just drank kefir post work out. Completely natural, no flavors no chemicals.
    I used the lifeway 1% plain

    I been drinking home made kefir for about 2 years now. Has made a world of difference in my digestion. I normally don’t eat breakfast so at lunch I’ll consume about 8 oz with a small lunch like 2 boiled eggs or a small sandwich. Fills me up but the best part it’s that I don’t feel sluggish afterwards.

    My wife had C-diff that just kept recurring over a 18 month period, no matter cutting edge antibiotics they threw at it, it was really scary, then a random emergency doctor she spoke to told her to drink Kefir, its been over two years now with no reccurance! We can’t be 100% sure that it’s the Kefir that stopped it recurring, but I’m convinced it made the difference.

    Fermenting the milk into kefir is easy once you get the kefir grains established and healthy. I like to ferment the milk for about 24 hours, strain out the kefir grains, and save them for the next batch. Next, I blend a fruit like blueberries, peach, or even apple into the strained kefir and add raw honey. I then put the mixture into a mason jar and cap it off tightly with the lid. Let that stand at room temperature for another 8 to 12 hours. When that mixture is refrigerated, you have a slightly carbonated drink that may even have a little alcohol. It is the champagne of kefir drinks and is delicious.

    • @bonsummers2657
      @bonsummers2657 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just let raw milk ferment. Just that is great. Just takes a few days at room temp, with of course some variability depending on the temperatures.. Don't have to do any fuss like what you're talking about. Refrigerate when it's fermented to the degree you like at room temp. Come on now.

      I used to do that too, until I realized that blending the kefir in a blender might actually be harming the fragile bacteria. Like putting you pet dog in the dryer for a few minutes. Who would do that? So I stopped for fear the little gut bugs would be damaged, killed, or destroyed in blending process. They are living creatures. I treat them as such. Just sharing my perspective. I may be totally wrong!

Kefir for the last 6 months and sometimes drinking plain kefir and sometimes blueberry or strawberry from trader Joe's. So I experimented with the blood sugar anecdote. Blood sugar levels measured for my regimented meals for a week at specific times and measured the following week in the exact same manor... Hardly any difference with incorporating 1/4 kefir with/ immediately before the same meals. I eat two big meals a day. Both considered carb heavy (fruit and veg and air popped popcorn). So I would say the blood sugar claim needs more investigation
