Food and shelter cost money. No life can survive without food and shelter. Letting go can't make money, even for shelter and food. That means if I let go, I'll be happy but die very quickly from starvation. I think answer lies somewhere in the middle.
The answer is still letting go, letting go of distraction thoughts and desires. When you working, let go thinking of how much money will you get but continue work hard and accept it, let the body work it best to the result without much of distraction.
