We FINALLY Have A Replacement Engine For Our 1934 Ford "Beautiful"

  • In the last update on "Beautiful" we found out the 59ab we had planned on putting in as a replacement had a cracked block. The engine appeared to be totally rebuilt but the block had a crack into a cylinder, and into the center exhaust port. Thankfully in our stash we have a 35/6 engine block that looks lightly used. Steve and Matt's Dad work on getting the water jackets cleaned out, and bolt on all the known good parts we removed from the original engine. Once the engine is ready to run, its time to fire it up and see if it will overheat. Thankfully the engine ran for 22 minutes with the shop fan and never went over 185 degrees. Time to swap in the new engine and enjoy the summer while driving Beautiful.

    Happy to see you're putting the early engine back in the car, I love those early engines! That thing is so original it would be cool to keep it as close as possible and enjoy it as is! As far as it burning a little oil, just consider it top end lubrication, it's a flathead if its not burning oil or leaking oil it doesn't have any oil In it lol

    I’m not knowledgeable about running on an engine stand. Is there a reason for no fan on the engine or no electric fan on the radiator? So glad it’s going well and look forward to seeing it installed and running down the street.

    • @IronTrapGarage
      @IronTrapGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This engine the fan is on the generator and would have hit the radiator. Some other cars we put one on. We put the swamp cooler shop fan in front of the radiator when we want to run it even longer to keep the temps down

    Aren't you concerned about the damaging effects of idling the engine for so long? Especially upper cylinders but also bearings due to low oil pressure.
    You can increase the revs and get it up to temperature much quicker without the unnecessary wear.
