Another great basic explained. I have been stumped how to narrow the hemming....easy when shown how!

Just a thought Abi, where are the machines set with regards to the width setting? On the machine you're using looks like a knob by the stitch fingers currently showing .6. How much does that alter the seam? Thanks for a great video.

colin101981 thanks Colin. Right at the end of the video I alter the knife setting. This will not affect the actual stitch width which is determined by the needles, however the seam allowance might be affected ever so slightly but marginally. I don’t really think it’s really meant to - just down to poor design of the machines. The knife just allows the threads to wrap around different thicknesses of fabric. It’s probably better explained here. Oh no! Loops and Threads Hanging Off Serger and Overlocker | Abi’s Den ✂️🧵🌸 th-cam.com/video/Kagpd_DD-SI/w-d-xo.html

Hi Colin, I have just read back my reply and because I wrote it in haste, it made little sense - so I have edited it and hope it makes better sense now x You're such a superstar :-)

Hi Abi how do you start serging in the middle of a seam or perhaps after trimming an armhole or hem I tried today and ended up with a few loose loops which looked a bit messy,I thought about serging all the seams first but obviously some seams have to be trimmed.Do you ever disengage your knife.Am I overthinking this🤪
