Really helpful and well resented and explained. thank you for sharing your expertise!
Next could you please teach us how to train a cat to walk around the machine and pins without causing someone to require emergency services, please? Great video!!
Oh no!! Did you have an incident?
Never seen anyone do a blind hem with two needles. Stitching in-between the two needles seems easier than trying to nick the edge with one needle like I was taught. Thanks for posting.
You are welcome
My cat LOVES it when I run my serger. Too cute. Thank you.
Haha. So cute
That’s great! Very helpful explanation. I’m not even at beginner level serging yet, so understanding how it works first is a great help. 👏👏👏🤗
Glad it was helpful! I agree, building up a good grounding first will help prevent any issues x please do subscribe and share the love ❤️
Thank you, Abi!
Great simple explanation of each technique. Thank you xxxx
Thanks Helen 🌷
Thanks so much forbthis video. I recently bought a Janome overlocker and just getting to grips with all it can do. I need to turn up a pair of leggings that have a fleece lining or backing. This video is just what I needed to know to do the job.
I'm very glad I have an overlocker. It was a bit pricey but well worth the money.
Good luck! Stick with us. You’ll do great!
This is the only demonstration I saw on a blindhem that was on a pant leg (in a circle) rather than a flat fabric sample. I wanted to edge and hem the pants without taking out the inseam. But I see now that I will have to trim the excess to shorten the pant first then work on the hem. That's ok. I might still just overedge and then use my regular machine since I don't really want so many stitches, but I will use this technique eventually.
Wow. I have had my serger for years, and didn't know some of these tricks! Thanks.
Happy to help!
I really appreciate that even though you have a really nice serger, all of these techniques are completely applicable to an entry level serger. Everything was very clear and easy to follow. Great video
Amazing. I’m so glad you have grasped that. I want to prove you can do this with any size machine. The skill is with you
Very helpful tips, thank you.
Hi Abbi, I love your channel it is concise and to the point, I love that your vids are not too long but just wonder if you could extend the view of the finished hems for a second or two longer so I can get a good look at the finished result. I had to keep stopping and starting and in the end resorted to slowing down the speed of the video so I could take in the views. I hope you not offended as intended with love💕
Hey Sheila, absolutely love your feedback. You’re right, but, I do get so concise sometimes that I may miss a relevant part. As you rightly say, I have to start slowing down a little . I really do appreciate the comment. It’s difficult to fix things if I don’t know it’s a problem, so thank you. I know the sentiment behind this is from a good place with good intent and I will take it on board, many thanks for commenting and giving me a chance to fix things x
The "." and "," keys let you go forwards and backwards one video frame at a time, in TH-cam.
Excellent video! Lots of great info. TFS
Thanks Abbie, for more great tips 👍
Thanks Ann 💕🌷
Thank you Abbi. Great tutorial as always 😊xx
Thank you Sandra x
Thank you so much for this video. I bought a serger and received minimum support from the seller. I have been looking for some good references. This is really excellent!
Thank you so much. I think sellers are just that. They sell
Great demo, thank you 🙏
My pleasure!
Thank you Abi, lots of useful tips.
Thank you Christine
First time I’ve heard anyone say to put the fold between the needles. Makes perfect sense, thank you.
Lettuce edge…what about increasing the DF?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🥰
Muchas gracias Abi, I bought my serger years ago and up until now did I began to use. Never had any instruction, I do appreciate this video.
De nada. If you have other suggestions, let me know in the comments
Such good instructions very helpful, thank you 😊
Thank you for your comment 💫🌷You’re welcome 😊
Great Ali thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching
Thx Abi, I always look fwd to your content you add such valuable detail, I am doing some alterations and mending on knit garments as practice till I make one from scratch. I am new to the overlocker have got a basic singer one (Lidl special lol) it’s really good machine though for my needs. I’m also interested in uses of dif presser feet. I have sewn for years started on my mothers singer treadle and I have now acquired one - wonderful machine that taught me so much in my younger days. Keep doing what you are doing xx
Oh, I’m so excited that you have a treadle machine. Such a throwback 💫🪡Wow! I love my Lidl overlocker. Definitely one of the better ones on the market, it’s plenty good for lots of tasks snd really so much better than some of the leading brands x happy sewing! 🧵✨🌷
That was awesome!
Thank you!
Hi Abi. Great tips. Love the new room. 😘😘👌👌
Thanks Lee ! 🙏🏽
Amazing, usefull, thanks for that video 👍
Thank you 💫

Great information and especially as I have this overlocker, will look 👀 to see what else you’ve serged on this model
I have just made a pair of corduroy trousers and it was like a hot knife through soft butter. Didn’t need to change settings to make a satin blouse and again made a scuba pjs. Honestly. I hug this machine when no one’s looking .
Hope you made videos? So we can watch those as well
@PegCoombes you know I get so caught up I don’t as much as I should
If you also make a template from heavy paper (200 g/m2) of the pocket, and then pull the thread around it, it is even more accurate.
Hi Abi, I have just purchased this amazing overlocker too and was hoping you could tell me where you got the extension table from? Thank you :)
Hi Strawberry. I sourced mine from Franklins in Colchester. I had to wait a few days but I think they have them in stock now x
@@AbisDen Great! thank you x
How did you topstitch with your serger on the jeans?
topstictching is done on a sewing machine :-)
which is the best way to hem some proper expensive trousers, with the overlocker?
With confidence !
I just came across your channel. I really enjoyed the content. And the cat...
Haha. Love the cats. Thank you and welcome 🤗 🙏🏽
19.03 I have a 3 feed overlocker only, could I do most of these technics as on a 4?
I use the three thread quite often since it is less bulky. The main difference is that 4 thread is stronger.
Great tips! Where can I buy that light?
Hey! The daylight company sell amazing lights, all of my lights are from them, I am a fan, unlike other lamps, these haven’t changed in quality. Amazing x thank you 🙏🏼
Hi, what would be the best method and technique for hemming flounce? I have used the rolled hem method for non-bias fabrics and it turned out perfectly. When I hem flounce cut on the bias, there is a tendency to skip stitches or for the threads to not catch at all and I have to re-thread. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you!
Is that in this machine?
@@AbisDen I'm using a Brother 1634dx serger.
@missalexa998 yes. That’s the problem. Brother machines are naff. Just keep at it. I always struggle with brother machines. It’s hit and miss
@@AbisDen I wondered if that was it - I'm doing everything correctly. My standard sewing machine is a Baby Lock and I love it. Thanks for the reply!

great demo! But, I could hardly hear you speaking. My volume was up all the way and still had trouble hearing.
Maybe your yourtube settings are low ?
😢😭CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME WITH A VIDEO ON HOW TO THREAD THIS MACHINE 😭😢
Oh no!
I would have liked to see the hems closer up. You were going too fast from one hem to the other.
I’m so sorry! One alternative is in the settings ⚙️, you can slow the video down. Will that help?
