Thanks to streaming services Americans are seeing great foreign TV and films where the emphasis isn’t on young and pretty but rather on intelligence and wisdom and life’s experiences. Many foreign actors wouldn’t get past a casting director’s secretary in America but when we see their performances in foreign-made projects we suddenly can’t get enough of them. I give thanks every day for the average-looking foreign thespians who can out act many American actors. We may not be good at learning their names but when we see their faces we already know they’re going to give a great performance.
