The Death Toaster still has the best gun elevation in the game.
Even better than a arty...
the tier 5 of this tank line has 90 deg of elevation. beat that
yeah? that is death toaster.. are u fucking stupid?
The death toaster is the pz sfl lvc not the wt au pz IV
this is a undercover artillery
the gun elev. is not as crazy as the pz.sfl.IVC.... That gun can aim straight up.
Another great video. Concise and to the point.
You mentioned the very long tube this TD has and it's extreme elevation. The TD reminds me of the artillery unit I was in, in the Vietnam War. Each battery had two 8 inch [203mm I believe] but the tube was much shorter than the 175mm [the 8" was lengthened by the 1980's] the bullet weighed just over 200 pounds, just the bullet, not the powder [this was known as separate loading ammunition because the bullet was not in a casing, such as on the Abrams tank, or 105mm artillery]. The gun I am going to focus on was 175mm and had a very long tube, and it could shoot high angle as well.
Both tubes were on the same carrage and the guns used a spade that was the width of the gun [artillery piece]. Before firing, the spade was lowered and the gun was backed up onto the spade allowing the blade dug into the earth. The blade was required because without it the force of the blast when shot would have moved the entire gun carrage [or gun, artillery calls the entire arty piece a gun, and the business end is called a tube] would have been pushed back, and thus throwing it out of lay, which is time consuming.
As another bit of trivia, after the Vietnam war was over, the United States sold the 175mm gun to Israel. They re-tubed the 175mm to 155mm, and with all of that powder behind the smaller bullet [projectile or projo] [more commonly known to civilians as shells] were able to hit targets in Egypt.
Now, if WoT wanted to display a massively long tube on artillery in the game, include that 175mm on a then M107 gun carrage [exactly the same as the 8 inch but different nomenclature, it was an M110].
By the way, when we went with the infantry into the field we took the 200mm gun because it was much shorter and easier to maneuver. We used it as a direct fire weapon, you could see what you were shooting at.
Just one more short note, I observed a round that was shot direct fire at a truck, the windows were down and the projectile entered the driver side window and exited the passenger side. No damage was done to the truck as the projectile went through both open windows, of course I am sure the impact jarred the truck when it impacted the ground near by.
I apologize for getting so deep into real life, I seldom do that.
Thank you again for a very good video.
interesting read, thanks man o7
8:53, this gun elevation is not really a surprise since this is basically an anti aircraft gun mounted to a pz iv hull
Nice review QB, I'm looking forward to these TDs
The gun shield change is because the fact that the tank structure was basically just meant as a mounting for ground based AT cannons. Thus when you put a new gun on it, you're mounting a different AT cannon on the chassis.
So far I am liking this tank destroyer, the stock gun itself is a monster, I can't wait to try the gun you suggested for myself once I get the suspension to equip it, Thanks for the video,
I'd say most of the games I played in this monster I always turned the tank and reversed around corners to bait people at shooting at the rear drive wheels, which count _ONLY_ as tracks. :)
This tank was designed to mount a anti aircraft fun that's why the gun elavation is so crazy(they never actually made it)
You didn't recommend using 150mm on on the Tier 8
lol this tank always reminds of those conversations that I have with some fellow tankers after the PZ4 medium tank nerfs. It kinda goes like this now, "Pz4 was pissed off at how it keeps getting its gun nerfed so it asked its big brothers Jagtiger and E-100" if they will let him borrow their guns... and they agreed !". So was born the WT auf PZ4 !!!
i love these new TDs.
Interesting how they have gone in the opposite direction as they did for the American turreted TD line in regards to the gun's rate of fire, accuracy, and aiming time.
THAT gun elevation! :O
It has unique hulldown techniques, because it has so much gunelevation, that you can reverse up a hill, make your tank taller and still can shoot straight. To reload drive back down and then again up. With this technique you stick only your gunmantles out, which can be very hard to hit AND have a monster gundepression because you shifting the massive gun elevation down.
good movie mate! Keep up the good hunt
i think that a good strategy is to get into a hole with that td, and the back up and use the insane gun elevation to peek-a-boom, and plus the good aim time will ensure that you'll shoot first!
what line/from which tank do you expect this new German TD line to start from ? want to start on that line asap.
It has paper armour where as the jagdtiger can at least bounce/take some shots, the entire idea for this tank is that it deals out monster damage but cannot take any at all
Also the caliber of the gun affects the penetration of the shells: ex: the kwk44 L/55 128mm has 246 pen, the PaK44 L/55 has the same pen, but the longer PaK44/2 L/61 128 has 276 pen. The L/x is the times you multiply the caliber of the gun, thus obtaning the lenght of the barrel :)
I think the elevation comes from the fact, that it was also thought as anti air tank ;)
I also notived the bullet flies a bit higher then the aim.
Alos, I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but, rarely it happens to me when I enter a Random Battle, the loading screen is messed up, example our team list is empty and there is only 5 enemy players showing up and then the loading screen freezez... but after 7-10 minutes there is a battle report of defeat or EVEN victory. What is up whit this? Is the 8.9 patch bugged?
I wonder if you shoot a round under the gun shield and it doesnt hit the back of the tank, would it miss completely or is there still a hitbox there?
Looks cool!
yay i love QB and nice rewie but this good looks masive on panzer 4 chasis
When I checked this td out on the test server, I immediately thought it looked like a gigantic UE 57. I prefer the 128mm guns over the 150mm on the tier 8,9, and 10 vehicles. After the little of testing I did with this td, I feel I like my jagdtiger better. Of the new td line, the Nashorn, Rhm.-Borsig, and the Waffletraktor E100 are my favorites.
The flak bus with 8.8 flak gun can aim straight up. It's hilarious
Hey Quicky, I have a tip for you regarding the WT auf Pz4. His 12.8 gun has quite nice depression, but only on the sides and in the back. The 15cm has more depression in the front, altought overall slightly worse gun depression, but its the same on all sides. The elevation(which is a huge benefit of the 12.8)is much much worse on the 15cm. The 15cm is also significant lighter than the 12.8.
It has good camo. With net, skill and goldcamo it will be spotted at 250m without bush, 55m with bush.
7:05 - Same issue on the T1HT, the viewpoint is to the left of the gun for some reason, so the shells pop in from the right.
Hey!
The gun depression is really sucks if you're pointing it to the front, but it is quite good when you turn the turret to the sides or rear. So It is recommended to turn around when fighting downhill. You can fall "back" forward more quickly, and you don't have any armor anyway. :)
I would really like to know what the gundepression on all sides is
if u want to aim down u have to put the gun over the side or back of the tank but u cant aim up over the back of the tank
Can you do a review of the Marder 38T?
can you show us the texh tree? where it starts? do i need to start getting xp on current tanks for that line??
This long gun reminds me of the Panzerhaubitze 2000.
The reason the shells appear to be firing from above the aiming reticle is that the shell has to be aimed up to counteract gravity and hit right on the center of the crosshair. This is something I believe is automatically calculated by WG, so I wouldn't worry about it.
What about the camo value? It seems pretty small, or low height at least!
i will be getting this tank coz of the rotating turret, but i like the tier VIII more!
its an open top thats why it reloads faster, id imagine more room for the loaders..
and if you dont have the armor it has to has something over the jagdtiger, might as well be aim time
Does it have better gun depression from the sides/rear?
QB, why use the enhanced gun laying drive with this tank? both of the guns already have fantastic aim times, I think the camo net would be much more useful.
What are these Type 64s I see on the enemy team? New Premium?
Just a major point. the 128mm cannon on both the waffens are actually NOT the 128 on any other german tank. its a longer cannon and higher pen. this gun outclasses the jagdtiger in pen value
What is the purpose of the Chocolate bar those.
The new German TD's exchange armour for power kind of like the ISU-152 it doesn't have the best armour but a packs a punch.
Look at 09:54, did QB just took BOTH tracks of that ST-I down with that shot? That's ridiculous, looking at where he hit it!
Qb, i need help, whats your equipment loadout on Centurion Mk. 7/1? I already got rammer
Hey, Now that I think about it shooting the tracks of an enemy tank will get you some of the experience earned by other teammates. The same thing should happen when you kill the engine.
Hi Quickfingers,
I was looking for the Rhm.-Borsig Waffenträger guide. Did you skip it or didn't make it? plz let me know! or maybe you got a great guide (webpage) for me.
Greetings,
Masterubeertje (EU)
See you on the battlefield;)
i did my homework so i could watch QB :P
If QB would know it, he'd also explain how to get some nice gun depression. But as he did not, let me tell you. Basically you have to traverse so that your rear faces the enemy on the other side of a ridgeline and now your tank will have great gun depression
If it's a question of length and girth , i'd go with length in this case. Girth has a greater effect but length guarantees penetration.
I think this tank will be a very very fun sniper.
i want it so bad it looks so cool but is there a way at XP and silver and gold in the test sever?
You're playing it quite serious: using HE like in the WT E 100 preview would've helped way more ;)
IS-3 is being re-worked. Different armor. You should look it up. Other tanks are being changed too. But these TD's have all the spot light.
How bad is the gun depression over the back?
Haha that St.Emil is called Pz.Sfl V
The Psfl.IVc is called the Moritz
have they buffed this since then. It keeps bouncing pretty much every shot from my ravioli.
I think I'll stick to my StugIII in the kiddie pool over here!
The US turreted TDs have a lot of tanks that are basically converted mediums or heavies - the T30 and the T110E4 (I think, might be the E3, whichever is turreted). They took similar tanks like the T110E5 and T29, added a huge fucking cannon, and maybe uptiered them a bit. Since they frequently have good turret armor, and having a turret is a bonus in itself, they balanced by making the gunhandling worse.
Here, they have shit armor, so they're balanced with superior gun handling.
The gun sight on the waffentrager is below the gun not next to it.
All the waffentragers are AA guns, on AA mounts, so they all have crazy elevatios :d
Cept the e100 ofc
The Waffentrager auf. Pz IV's gun has the same penetration values an all types of ammo as the jagdtiger's 128mm. The only difference is the slight buff to the rate of fire and the faster aim time.
you are pronouncing the german words really good
did anyone of you guys play new German T8 Td??If yes how is he like?
That gun elevation
Gj QB as usual.
yes, with even more armour and on the sides too :D
I suppose I should love this tabk but the lack of any depression, is depressing me
QB have u tryed using it going revers. it got a fair amort og gun demp compair for the front.
German TD line is so op!!
The ''loop'' is like a sniper bullet, you have to aim above the target but in hte case in wot.. they already did that
Hoping this might play similar to the Hellcat minus the gun depression an not quite as mobile.
quickybaby. is todays live stream test server or normal server?
I think the excellent gun elevation can be explained by the fact this kind of gun was also used as anti air gun
u know u can get much better gun depression by putting ur hull sideways or to the back and its cuz of the additional size on the frontal hull that doesnt allow the gun to go downward
I love this ne td line i planning to go down this line becouse i loved the Jagdtiger
They are not per se AA guns, they are self propelled guns, that was meant to carry the gun to fixed positions and demount them there, and then the chassie would act as ammo carriage while the gun was used. The tank was able to fire with the gun mounted, but it was not the intention.
The reason for the high elevation... it's an rpg firing direct shots only :)
is the cammo rating broaken on this Tank? you seem to be spotted a few times for no reason.
and the same if you turn the gun to the back. in some situations it plays rahter nice driving backwards.
what I wonder is where they store the ammo in this tank...
+Evan Ireland (Commando5017) If its the same as the rhm borsig then its around the "turret" ring
***** ...didn't think of that...well, it's not like you have to aim hard to damage a waffle anyways
the only reason its like that is because it was a mobile AA platform made to replace 88aa spots, making ground strafing really hard with a mobile tank like the pz4.
Shoot an APCR though it! It has CRAZY velocity!
The flax buss has 90% elevation
that chassis looks a lot longer than the pziv chassis.
You just read my mind! ;)
It's the same Pz4 that got it's S-turret removed.
it feels like the shot comes above the tank cause the shell falls when its fired but in real tanks u counter it with elevation so it goes up and comes back down all tanks do that in this game but the slower the shell the more it falls and the more arc u have to put into it
Im gonna give them a try when the update comes since test server is full of gold.
It may as well just be a Pz. IV with a 128 mm gun bolted onto it, which is effectively what it is.
thanks bro
Oh yes it was on the testserver
How did you get that german voice
Has a lot more mana.
In practice firing this gun on the move should have shredded the tracks.
In regards to the poor gun depression turn the tank around backwards and shoot. You will then see a major improvement in the gun depression.
Mounting big guns on medium tank chassis. Looks like the "wonder weapons" one man promised back in 1944. Few more HE shells to load outs should balance it for everyone.
wow thanks, really detailed information! what is the source?
will be there :D
