    Great video. Use this one and a couple of others to help me change the plugs on my 2007 Sedona. You'll hear upwards of 6 hours to do the job. Took me less than 3 hours to do it all, thanks to these videos. Watch the videos, take the time to locate the hard to reach bolts, hoses etc., and the job becomes a whole lot quicker to accomplish.

    Great video of steps involved. Car had 160,000km. Rear plugs and coil still original, coils are Denso but plugs were Champion. Had misfire left bank (rear) cylinder Got the Australia version (Grand Carnival), right hand drive, very hard to get the 14mm back bolts undone as it also hold bracket with 2 attached wiring looms. We have the brake booster in the way, so can only use short open ended spanner, so cannot use socket or longer spanner so had to undo bolt from top. Unfortunately there were lots of engine oil in plug hole as well, so going have to do the valve over gasket as well. Video helped a lot, thanks again and keep up the good work.

    My theory is that upper intake removal is necessary to discourage the weekend warrior from doing this most basic task themselves.

      I just unhook the rear and front motor mounts and tilt the engine forward, I've been doing it that way since these type of POS design came to the market, i don't mess with anything else...

    • @grawey77
      @grawey77 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jomarz1828 Yes that works for some older GM and Ford designs, basically pushrod engines, or overhead valve, with the cam in the center of the engine block. Sadly on many newer cars with overhead cam engines, half the intake is right on top of the valve cover on one side of the engine or the other and the plugs are in the center of the valve cover. You can tilt the engine all you want for fun, but the upper intake has to come off. This is common on many V6's from various manufacturers to get half of the plugs now. Look up changing plugs a Chrysler 3.6 engine just for an example of what many manufacturers do now.

    • @grawey77

      Not difficult, but it does discourage novices from doing it.

      i have a 09 too. how did you managed to get the left bold on the back off. Did you unplug the two wires first? i can't see the back but seemed like the connector was on top of the bolt, right? what tool did you use?

    what's the trick to get the left bolt on the back? i have a 2009 and still i couldn't get to the left bolt. the wire or connector was on top of the bolt.

  • @trackerrrr
    @trackerrrr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used this procedure on my 2011 Sedona with a few mods. I took off the three bolts holding the throttle body on and the intake comes out very easily then. The gasket is just an o-ring so no paper gasket to tear. Do not put the power steering bracket bolts back in until you tighten the 14mm bolt first, makes it way easier...

    A couple things I'd like to add, one being that it looks as though they switched to a plastic plenum for 2010 since my 2009 has an aluminum one. If yours also has an aluminum plenum, the bolt pattern is going to be slightly different and I suggest being very careful with the center bolt when tightening as it's very long and thin. And more importantly, it's best to use this opportunity to replace the valve cover gaskets since they're sold in pairs and only way to remove the rear cover is with the plenum off.

    • @gregbacon819
      @gregbacon819 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a 2006 with the plastic plenum. My 2007 has aluminum. Looks like they used both randomly over the years

    I noticed some oil may have leaked past the spark plug tube seals. With the upper intake pulled over like that, do you think that the rear valve cover gasket could be replaced without its total removal?

    Hello. I have a question. In this video on the back coil pack there is another little connection an I can not figure out where it goes. You have spark plug 1,3 and 5 but before spark plug one there is another connection. What is that connection suppose to go too? I have 2011 Kia Sorento 3.5L.

    for what it's worth I would change out the back coil packs with new OEM ones at 100,000 miles when you do the spark plugs because if one of them go bad you have to take off that Air intake also check your valve cover gasket change it as well if it looks likes its going to leak soon

      +Andrew Dickerson If you haven't done yours yet, you only need to replace the plenum gasket since the throttle body can stay attached. It's just a metal gasket and the old one on mine came off without leaving residue.
