I need this for my workflow, and had to go through a lot of trouble downgrading from 19.6 Beta when it didn't work. So, I'd like to know if it'll work before I upgrade to the official release...
hi great video but i am having trouble installing it when i do it just opens a new project i have installed it through the console but then it says there is no snap captions
Would be nice to actually tie the animations to the underlying audio (WAV) file so that strong syllables in the audio would change the attributes of the word size or color, for example.
Hello, Thank you for this but when I try to use it, it doesn't work. Indeed, after the installation, when I clic on "Timeline" and "Create Subtitles from Audio", I have an error message telling me that I have reached a limitation with DaVinci Resolve and that I have to pay. any idea ? Thank you.
when i drag and drop the lua file it gives me this error in the console "[string "???"]:5: attempt to index global 'rets' (a nil value)" How do i fix this?
Hi! Love your stuff!!! However, I have made my own title animation with my own font, which I really like. But when I use SnapCaption and it auto creates the subtitles, the animation doesn't appear. I have to jump like 10 frames forward to see then animation. Does anyone know what I can do? It is created within fusion and saved - but I think I have messed something up since I have to jump 10 frames forward on the title before the animation happens?
This means that your animations aren't set at frame 0 in the fusion composition itself. If you retime the animation of a generated caption inside the fusion composition (not the edit page), than drag and drop the caption back into your snap captions bin. You should have a working template with the right timing :)
that's some really GOLD content my dude, I'm gonna make a portuguese version of it and send your link to download. it's really helpful, hope blackmagic sees it too

This is just awesome but for some reason my didn’t really work. When I hit generate it generates; now hold on, my screen just goes black after generating because this is making a new video track(completely black no captions) on top of my other video tracks. Anyone got any suggestions
Thanks for this! Its the best option available for Davinci Resolve. I also bought your creators pack but I still feel that the auto captions is still better on capcut. I tried using the "Snap Emphasis" style and I'm having to adjust the parameters a lot to make it work. Capcut gets it perfect right away. Looking forward to future updates and optimization on the captions from you, thanks.
Thanks for this! If you're open to it, would love to get on a quick call on discord so I can make a note on what you want improved and I can see what I can do :).
Quick update, downloaded one of the fonts and installed and is now working! Perhaps you could put together a font pack or something to accompany the plugin going forward. Thanks for this though i do appreciate it and again apologies for the letting off of steam.
Hey there! I would love to do that, but it puts me at risk, basically if I distribute software with the Fonts installed, I can be subject to paying licensing fees. In short, to do that, and legally protect me, I'd have to make Snap Captions go from free to like $300 a download 🤣 (Just a guestimate)
I downloaded snap captions and I’m not seeing the presets to choose. The snap captions file is in the download folder where I installed it from, is there any advice you can give so I can use them? Thanks
Having trouble putting the templates. I followed step by step, firstly it didnt let me just drag the lua file, secondly there is an extra lua file "utf8" not shown in the video. Anyways how do I put the templates I want?
Just released a new video explaining the utf8 file, best to send screenshots/recordings in the discord chat as visuals really help troubleshoot quickly :)

Some other people have had this issue as well, I did have it for a moment as well. I found when I updated the OS and resolve it started working again. This issue is proving hard to isolate as it seems to be related to OS, security and permissions in the computer itself.
Hi bro! When I try to install it an error message appears. Does not read text+template option. Do you know how fix it? Thank you very much for your work!
Sorry for the slow reply! We've just updated to 1.5 and it should fix this, you can grab the update from Ko-Fi again or from the link where you downloaded 1.4 :)
@@TheOrsonLord v1.5 version doesn't work on beta 19b6 either :(
@@TheOrsonLord Now is already working! :D With the last update of davinci resolve stuio 19 (Stable version, not beta). So, all it's okay.
Thanks u very much for your work
i feel sick to my stomach downloading this for free but you're the goat.
Haha, you can always donate to feel better! it makes a huge difference!
Wow, this plugin seems really well done. Both simple and powerful. I will give it a try and update this comment afterward.
Have fun!
BRO you are a LIFE SAVER. This is the exact tool I need to bridge the gap from where blackmagic left off... Totally a game changer - tackling multiple issues with one clean tool. I WILL be paying for this tool as it WILL make me money. Thank you so much!
Appreciate your support 🙏 it helps a lot!
Wow thanks so much! So helpful for creating polished shorts! Thanks dude!
You are welcome!
This plugin is a godsend! Incredible job by everyone involved! 🤯
Thanks! Dan and I appreciate it.
When I install the plugin the Text+ Template says No "Snap Captions" Bin Found. How can I fix this?
Check my snap captions full workflow video :)
glad many people don't know about this.
feeling lucky, to know such amazing subtitle feature!!
it will help me make subtitle very easy!! thanks man
nice beard too :)
You're welcome! Glad I can help make subtitling a little easier :)
For some reason, nothing happens when I drop it in my counsel. I'm on Windows. Do you have any idea?
Someone else had a similar experience because their user profile had some non english alphabet characters in it.
The solution was to manually install it in your computers c drive - not your user drive. Video coming out about it on thursday.
Dude i used this script.
It is by far the best one i have used. i was using capcut to add subtitles cuz it was faster, now i uninstalled capcut.
Thanks! again
☠️ to capcut!
I just started with DVR. Got to say, this is a very cool plug in. Let me play with it for a while and when I get a use for it I will be sending some cash your way. Thanks for doing this.
That's how we hope to have it work - we want to see people succeed with it and save time/make money. Then donate :)
Beautiful work Orson! Just shared this with my community 🙏
Thanks for sharing!!
Mines not working fam. Any suggestions? Dragged the LUA file across, downloaded texts etc, but it's not finding the text and templates? Thy didn't automatically install and when I try to import the DRP file it says cant do, and aborted. Any suggestions would be great
Discord will be best place to discuss this, there are a few things that could be causing that and we'd have to get a screenshot with some details to see what's exactly going on.
Thanks for this video - I am facing an issue. When I try to generate the subtitle, it says 'no snap caption bin found'
there's another video covering this in detail, but basically you need to copy your folders across from one project to another.
VERY COOL!!! Just created my own Text design and loaded it to the 'Snap Captions' folder for future use. works well and easy. Thanks a lot!
Nice work!
how do I multi-edit all the current subtitles, like, moving them to another locations for instance, it puts it right in the middle how do I move them all without messing up everything or selecting them one by one?
I just released my halloween pack video and I showcase in the last half how to do this :)
oh man! I was just about to go use one of those captions app after having to spend so much time keyframing and writing my own word by word! Having this plugin to enhance the auto captions Davinci has to make them more on trend with current social media is amazing! THANK YOU!
Anyway to remove the fly in animation?. I can't seem to see the keyframes in the text+ editor
it's in the fusion page. got it
Your welcome - that's why I built this automation - I was frustrated with the idea of having to leave Resolve, it seemed so inconvenient!
Amazing tool! Thanks very much for sharing this. I will introduce your video and the tool in my channel.
Awesome! I love japan, it'd be awesome to be amongst the Davinci Resolve Japan users! 🙏
@@TheOrsonLord I have asked my audience to subscribe to your channel. Hope you get new subscribers from Japan!
You and Dan are amazing for doing this! Thank you so much!
Our pleasure!
Beautiful! But I have a problem. I don't see the active Templates at the bottom. What should I do?
need to add a snap captions bin to project with templates.
This is f**king incredible work dude!! Well done 👏
Dude! Your work is incredible!
Thank you for making this plugins! Hope your effort will be known by all content creators! God bless!
I'm see myself show up all over (even other platforms I'm not on like TikTok).
I'm loving this so much. You are a lifesaver dude.
Unfortunately, I'm having trouble with large projects. I can use the plugin without issues with shorts, but when I try to convert subtitles from a 22-minute timeline, the plunging freezes, even if I have only 4 subtitles. Do you know what I can do?
NVM, I upgraded to 1.2 and it fixed ^^
Awesome glad to hear
Awesome! Glad it was solved.
hey, i downloaded this today, installed it, and also clicked on the example project but its all in red for some reason and nothing shows up on the project, I'm new to resolve.
This looks great! I just downloaded the plugin and donated. Will probably donate more after using it!
Thanks so much for the support 🙏
Hi, I love you :D
This is exactly what I wanted captions to do when they came out. Makes life sooo much easier. Thanks for this!
You're welcome 😊
This is insane. THANK YOU!
You are welcome!
I know it doesn't work with 19.6 Beta. Does it work with the official Resolve 19 release that just came out? I need this for my workflow, and had to go through a lot of trouble downgrading from 19.6 Beta when it didn't work. So, I'd like to know if it'll work before I upgrade to the official release...
It works with the official full release DaVinci Resolve 19 :)
hi great video but i am having trouble installing it when i do it just opens a new project i have installed it through the console but then it says there is no snap captions
oh no, it's probably best discussed in Discord so we can share screenshots
Would be nice to actually tie the animations to the underlying audio (WAV) file so that strong syllables in the audio would change the attributes of the word size or color, for example.
Hello,
Thank you for this but when I try to use it, it doesn't work. Indeed, after the installation, when I clic on "Timeline" and "Create Subtitles from Audio", I have an error message telling me that I have reached a limitation with DaVinci Resolve and that I have to pay.
any idea ?
Thank you.
Hi there - the create subtitles from audio is a studio feature unfortunately,
Convinced you're a magical Davinci Leprechaun at this point. Thanks!!
Haha thanks - people put me somewhere between a magical leprechaun and ragnar the viking. Either way I'll take it as a compliment 😂
I can't install this, when i try to drop the lua file into the console, i get a red circle and it won't let me install it. im on windows
I haven’t seen that before, I’d ask for help in our discord and see if the community can help 🙂 they’ve been really awesome.
when i drag and drop the lua file it gives me this error in the console "[string "???"]:5: attempt to index global 'rets' (a nil value)" How do i fix this?
Sound complicated! I suggest joining the discord and asking for help there, there's some techy people.
But also - try to manually install it via the install instructions in Notion
Magic, huge thanks! Would be great to see it in Reactor repository, to get updates and easily install
that's some really GOLD content my dude, I'm gonna make a portuguese version of it and send your link to download.
it's really helpful, hope blackmagic sees it too
Love it, that’d be great
How do I get snap caption on the master folder it doesnt show up
There's a template project where you can copy the folder ;)
Brother, I simply can NOT thank you enough! Muh new video drops tomorrow morning (5AM PST) and going forward this'll save me enough time to polish off at least one extra six pack a day! Fer you, my friend - when I travel across the pond I'm buyin' you as many beers as you want!
Awesome! Hopefully I can make it a carton a day by the end of the year! 🤘
This is just awesome but for some reason my didn’t really work. When I hit generate it generates; now hold on, my screen just goes black after generating because this is making a new video track(completely black no captions) on top of my other video tracks. Anyone got any suggestions
Guess what right after this comment on my homepage it showed your video to fix black screen LoL
Haha - I try to be quick like that ;)
Thanks for this!
@TheOrsonLord haha oh sod that eh ok I didn't have that cross my mind on the legalities haha fair doos
Dude. This is an amazing plugin. Will definitely be trying this tomorrow. Thanks a bunch
Enjoy!
I downloaded snap captions and I’m not seeing the presets to choose. The snap captions file is in the download folder where I installed it from, is there any advice you can give so I can use them? Thanks
Sure thing, you can grab the example snap captions folder/bin from the template project file.
Do you think you will be adding specific Text+ effects based on who is speaking with studio 19's speaker recognition?
We'll have to look into what API Resolve gives us access to. Lot's to explore over this next year!
Hi there, I installed Snap Captions. Though it says that "No 'Snap Captions' bin found. How do I resolve that pls?
There is a template project file that comes with Snap Captions - in that project is a folder/bin you need to have in your projects for the plugin to find - sorry I forgot to cover that step clearly in my tutorial.
No worries at all. Thanks alot for the quick response @@TheOrsonLord
