- In 2019 Brompton launched the new Transit Travel bag, and in 2020 we made a video on the (then) new Brompton Transit Travel Bag - link below
• Bormpton folding trave...
Now in 2023 Brompton have released version 2
So we thought we would make a video comparing V1 and V2 and showing all the features
Unfortunately we didn't have any of the version 1 bags
So this video shows the features and tells of the one main difference

Your microphone sounds like it has some audio issues as from 03:25 onwards it has intermittent audio skips and/or echoes. The audio is understandable, but I thought my iPad speakers were on the fritz, so I played it again and the your voice still skips and echoes. Still enjoying the outtakes 😂
Sorry! Not sure what happened! It was fine on the checks! Hmmm…,
A new Transit Bag, it's beautiful, it's bigger, and it looks very expensive. Well, I think I have to stay with my IKEA bag.😗
What are the brand names and models of the two hard side cases you showed that are better for checked luggage use?
@@kevinwilkeson5348 maybe both from B&W - bike box and international bike case. not 100%
Many thanks both for watching! The two bags are
B and W foldon folding bike box

And
B&W Brompton folding bike carry case (hard)

I have flown with both and they are great!
Excellent video as always. I am seriously considering buying a Brompton and discovered your channel. Your videos are genuinely comprehensive and informative and I find the slightly dry almost cynical style of presentation hilarious and entertaining. If I decide to go ahead I will definitely give you a look. You are not too far away. That’s unless I find a suitable secondhand one. Even if I decide against a Brompton I will still watch. You have found your vocation!
Many thanks for watching! Oh do come and see us. We also ship Bromptons in the UK
Thank you for this video. I'm having some audio issues on my end. Doubled up audio, and some glitching. I don't know if anyone else experienced this.
The hats strange we checked out end and no problems at all.
@@brilliantbikes Maybe it's a network connection problem on my end.
@@WheelsonaBike same issue here 🤷♂
@@brilliantbikesSimilar audio issue here, and by the look of it, seems like there is also a text glitch 😅
Some audio glitches from 03:20 to approximately 06:00 - nothing dramatic, just a few hiccups 😇
I don't think Ikea need to worry about this new competitor to their Dimpa bag just yet.
lol! I would be tempted by a Dimpa bag to keep the bag clean!
impressive reply, sharp as ever@@brilliantbikes
When I bought my Flame Painted "Superlight", during high Covid19, in 2019, I started looking for a proper travel, transport bag! And as a first I found the expensive, dedicated, German, High Quality, B&W box, as in the back of the pictures! Sadly/luckily I'm a tall guy, as many other Scandinavians and in Scandinavia a Brompton is delivered with a long, black 600 mm seat post as - Standard!
Which didn't fit my new B&W box, unless being fully removed from my "folding bike" (Removing the saddle and taking out the pin from the bottom, to make it able to fit the box!! We don't use children's sized bikes, as former Vikings!!!).
So I'm glad to see that this flimsy, English bag also fits a proper sized bike 😄!! Finn. Denmark
Yesterday (Sunday) I did change the tyres. Continental Contact Urban instead of Schwalbe Marathon. Tyre lettering (pressure values) flush to the valve as you proposed (like a pro!). Adjusting the gear hub was easy with your instruction. I cleaned up the chain tensioner and everything. Also did a little break adjustment. Result: a much better feeling of riding my M6R of 2016 in British Racing Green. Thank your very much for your tutorials and product videos. Greetings from South Germany (Lake Constance, not Munich) --- Martin
Thank you so much for the kind comment - can moments like yours really make our day
Glad we were of some assistance
We hope to visit Konstanz (is that spelt correct) with our Bromptons sometime
@@brilliantbikes Lake Constance (der Bodensee) and the entire region is an ideal terrain for biking. Please come in early spring or autumn (when the high season is over). I'm going to visit Konstanz (your spelling is absolutely correct!) this week by ferry and Brompton. Have a good time and nice trips. Bye - Martin
Thanks for the entertaining videos. Just a bit of feedback to corroborate those who have stated there are audio issues. The audio becomes repetitive/skippy half way through the video.
Many thanks for letting us know! Strange!
Thanks for watching
Thanks for your video, you have great experience in Brompton and related topics, but I think you should create a video with different configurations of how to use the "Brompton Transit Bag V2" or earlier model.
From experience, I prefer the "Brompton Transit Bag", for weight, cost, ease of handling and transport, hotel/home storage (uses very little space versus a Samsonite suitcase or similar). Brompton uses two cardboard boxes to protect their bikes in packaging. Use the second box, which is on the inside, then you can fold it inside the "Brompton Transit Bag" (with the Brompton inside), creating the shape of your bike. In my case with a "C Line Explore M6L", I have free space and weight for clothes, shoes, other objects (approximately 7.5 kg free), to reach the 23.5 kg allowed by the airline, without paying fines for excess weight. A rigid suitcase does not provide that possibility, it is less.
To avoid damaging, staining your clothes with grease/dust from your bike, I first recommend cleaning your bike, then protecting it with the "Brompton Bike Cover". And ready to travel, your bicycle arrives at its destination protected, without damage, because it is protected by the Brompton bag + cardboard + clothes / shoes / others. That for me works, it's better and also smarter.
I have the old "Samsonite 400 Series Epsilon Black Upright Piggyback Travel Luggage (Model No. 488111071)" suitcase at home. In my opinion, the best suitcase for Brompton, perhaps a little heavier than the current Samsonite or similar ones, but if you are talking about a rigid suitcase, the 400 Series model is the best.
Having the two options, the "Brompton Transit Bag" and the "Samsonite Suitcase", I prefer the first, because it gives me more space and free weight for my personal things on a plane trip and when I arrive at my destination, I can leave the airport without complications if I decide to travel on my Brompton to the hotel/home (folded Brompton bag....., with a suitcase, it is more complex).
Do you think it's good, comfortable, to travel like this...??... for those of us who use our Brompton and don't want public transport when we arrive at our destination...??... a suitcase is the solution...??

That's simple, that's thinking like Brompton calls us to think...!!!
Many thanks for your comments and for watching! Great comments and we will try to address!

Thanks for responding to my comment. Be well, have a great week.
Something odd here which could be down to camera angle I guess? The clip taken in the garden appear to show the saddle height lower than the main frame whereas the folded bikes in the store show the saddle higher than the frame which is also my experience. Finding a bag to accommodate the folded Brompton including saddle has always been a problem even with IKEA bags so are you saying that Bromptons new bag accepts the entire P line?
Contrary to your admonition, that you wouldn’t check this into the hold of an airplane, I recently traveled from California to France with my Brompton in this bag. It arrived safe and sound without any apparent wear and tear to the bag. In addition, there is sufficient space for my helmet, swim gear, and front basket bag. I cut up a hollow swim noodle to make hinge protectors as well.
Thank you for watching - and even more for your excellent feedback / experience
Padding it out and using the swim noodles is also a great tip - we use plumbing pipe insulation (very similar and very common for those living in cooler climates)
Some problems with the audio edit in the early part of this one chaps.
Interesting review though, I have orange laces on my green trainers too. 😄👍
Many thanks for watching! That’s strange as we have no issues at all!
@@brilliantbikes oh.. weird as @platypushatstand describes it perfectly too...what a great handle!
Thank you for using a bike built for a tall person haha. I really need to get an extended seatpost but I do have an H so I've also got that bit more height o the front
😀. A good reason to go shopping! Thanks for watching!
very helpful video about brompton travel bags - thank you! question: when putting a brompton (or any bike) on a plane, do you need to deflate the tires so they don't pop at a high altitude?
Many thanks for watching! The airlines request that you deflate the tyres at least partially!
So the only way to carry it while riding is to shoulder it? I would have hoped to be able to atttach it to the rack or carrier block. If there is no way to fold it smaller (come on brompton), can it be attached securely on the seatpost?
Maybe the next version might, but right now it’s too big for the front or rack, sorry!
I can appreciate this video. I too have red laces on my grey trainers.... (just saying)
The bag appears to be really good.. and doubles as a skateboard.
Thank you for what you do for us.
And thank you for watching!
🥰🥰
Thank you for watching!
It would be nice if it doubled up as a rack or be stored on the bike itself, because, if you don't stay at the same hotel at your destination, what do you do with it?
Many thanks for watching! We have in the past left our bags in left luggage at the airport.
A Video of your ‘Best’ Outtakes would be very watchable and welcomed 😂
Lol! It would go on forever……
It first came 2018? ...suddenly i feel old. 😂
Me too!
It’s hanks for watching!
I own this travel bag and used for an international trip. It works well for bike protection, but the wheels on this bag does not rotate, so it ends up being difficult to make turns, etc. I am thinking of customizing the wheels/casters to make it better for moving around. That is one complaint I have.
Thanks for sharing your experience (and for watching!)
If you customise the wheels - let us know how you get on
I'm also curious on your wheel convertion! I wish they used a system like the vincitia sightseer, where you can easily take off the wheels. Whenever I travel with the brompton cardboard box it has to go to oversized baggage, since it cannot clear the rail on the baggage dropoff area by just a few centimeters.
I would never even think that you’re off your trolley, is it really all about the song , maybe, song = Bigger Bag = Diorjay.
Many thanks!
@@brilliantbikes my pleasure adding to your ever increasing playlist.
Probably be advisable to tear the Brompton logo off the bag! No point in making it a desirable theft. It would've been better if two of the wheels were rotatable for pulling along.
Thanks for watching
Two very good points - especially about the rotatable wheels!
I own the first version and cannot see any difference to the second one.
lol! We had to ask Brompton, it’s slightly later to accommodate the P and T line bikes
Thanks for watching!
idk. Looks way too fancy for my greasy and dirty bike to store it inside. I feel like you would have too clean the brompton thoroughly before putting it in.
First time I hear water proof and water resistant. What's the difference?
Water proof means you can dunk it in a swimming pool and whatever is inside will stay completely dry. Water resistant means you can take it out in the rain, and whatever is inside will stay mostly dry.
@@james-p thanks!
Thanks both for watching! Great explanation of waterproof versus resistant! Thanks!
Just put it in an ikea dimpa bag before you put it in the bag, problem solved!
