S7 v5.5 is the classic older version of Siemens plc programming software. Tia Portal v15 is the new programming platform for Siemens. The Current Version is 17 i believe which is released today.
Contact your local vendor or visit the Siemens site and download a version you want to use and you should get a 30day trial license with it if I remember correctly.

Hi Doom, "FCx" / Creating a Function File is like creating a LAD Program File in Logix 500 or a New Routine in Logix 5000. Siemens confuses things a little by having Function Files and Function Block files. Essentially its a file containing a Logic Sequence that can be executed on demand when scanned by OB1 or another logic file. When you put your Function file into OB1 as shown in the tutorial, you get the EN and ENO bits presented (Enable Input, and Enabled Output) - 6:50. This is quite common in IEC 61131-3 Function Block editors such as PCWorx, Beckoff etc. "FBx" Function Blocks on the other hand, declare the Inputs and Outputs and conceal any remaining logic inside. So when you put the block into a function file like OB1, you see the Inputs and Outputs you have mapped but the logic is hidden inside. "OB1" is like the Main Program in Logix, and calls the logic files in the order that OB1 is scanned. You would be doing a JSR or Jump to Subroutine Instruction in Logix 500 traditional ladder. You can download just the fb or fc you chose
You can download to the plc just the blocks you want to load.

Means blocks in your program are not downloaded or they are locked

You would have to have the password to unlock it.

You should be using Windows 7-SP1..
It will even work for Siemens TIA Portal 13 also..
