I don't agree with you at all. I'd even rather have 100mbs wired than the 450 mbs you get wireless. With the wired device, you don't have latency and noise. So the connection is more stable.
I've never understood why people buy Firesticks knowing their limitations when they can simply buy an Android box with all the ports running at higher speeds and done...keep up the good work my man.
Maybe because of security issues of generic Android boxes, see video "STOP Buying ANDROID TV Boxes!" and the Firestick's, security, development updates and ease of use?
@martinandroid2538 you can get Nvidia Shield if that's your concerns I have two myself and they have the cheaper tube version if your on a tight budget
Been using that hub for years now, I opened it up and re-soldered the cable as it was a sketchy solder, then drilled holes into the top and bottom of case and added stick on cushion feet to raise it up for more air flow. Works like a charm.
Thanks Doc. Always use direct connection when possible. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT
Well that explains why my firestick gets the same speed as wifi. I have the ugreen 5 in 1 otg. The new one supposedly gets 1000 mbps but now i know the stick doesn’t theres no need to upgrade. Thanks doc.
I connect via the OTG / USB 3.0 hub + Ethernet port set up. My service is 400 Mbps and this gets me around 300 of that. My opinion (I have no data to back this up) is that a wired connection should be more stable than Wi-Fi. Is there even a use case where more than 100 Mbps is necessary? If there is, please let me know, as I like to educate myself on the subject.
Hi, does anyone know if the Amazon update breaks the capability to store apps via USB? My firestick used to be configured this way but it suddenly stopped working. Now I am using my ONN 4K for this instead.
I just recently got an update on my firestick lite, and while checking some things in settings. I noticed that although it was "off," the option to "off load" applications was still available. So, I know this isn't much, but hope it helps.
Which Ethernet adaptor will work on the New ONN Box? I am currently using a cable matters Ethernet adaptor with my firestick 4k Max (2nd Gen) and it gives me speeds up to 400 Mbps. Most of them give speeds only up to 100 Mbps. This adaptor won’t work with an ONN Box so I’m looking for an Ethernet adaptor that will give full speeds. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
I use a USB 3 gigabyte Ethernet adapter with the otg cord for my onn box. I still have the old gen of the onn box. I did my own testing and I would always get faster speeds with the Ethernet cord plug in instead of the using wifi. Not by much though. I currently pay for 50 mbps and always get around 100 Mbps when I have the Ethernet plugged in. And around 60 or 70 Mbps with wifi.
@@KrakatoaKava If you're paying for only 50 Mbps (and that is what they're actually supplying you), then you are NEVER going to get speeds higher than that! It is physically impossible! Either your speed readings are incorrect OR your provider is actually pumping out ti you MORE than the 'official' quoted amount. As example, I pay for an 'official' 100 Mbps plan from Xfinity, but I often get 'up to' 120 Mbps. My assumption is that is what they are truly providing (in knowledge that customer's Gateway/Routers are going to have different efficiencies that will reduce ACTUAL speed to the streaming device). So when customer runs their speed tests, they are not going to complain that they are NOT getting what they're paying for. However, the speeds you state definitely exceed any normal 'bump up' a provider might provide for free! You might want to just call them and ask what 'plan' you are on (obviously, DON'T say anything about what speeds you are actually getting!). You may discover you are unofficially getting higher speeds than you are paying for! Or don't risk the inquiry at all and just enjoy the extra speed you SHOULDN'T be receiving! 👍🤣
@@bigkahuna2084 that is true. I just know that if you have a 5 g modem/router it does boost your speed up a little more but I think it's only for wifi. Either way I did test with both wifi and Ethernet cord using the same internet speed tester in the video and I was always getting higher speeds with the Ethernet plugged in using a otg adapter on my onn box. Streaming has been a lot better. From time to time I do get buffering when I'm streaming and the quality does go down but it's still better speeds I'm guessing. I'm going to be switching to starlink soon and excited for that. I know the speeds aren't as high as fiber but I can't get fiber where I'm at. Also it's going to be a lot cheaper. I'm paying 112 a month for 50 speeds. I know a rip off. With starlink I'll get 200 plus only paying 60 a month. If you try my method for the onn box I hope it helps you get better speeds and connection as it did for me 🙂
Even at 100 mbps, ethernet is the better for most streaming because fewer data packets are lost. Hardwire everything you can because it reduces congestion on your WiFi network for your mobile devices.
The latest Amazon update has broken the ADB functionality which is needed by my apps, as well as apps like mouse toggle. I would complain to Amazon chat and tell them you paid for something that you can't download any more. Tell them the app was working fine before your device was updated. My apps have not changed for months, its the Amazon update that has broken them. You can also demand a refund as you paid for something that is not available/working any more. I covered this in a recent video - th-cam.com/video/YSGa3t3tJEE/w-d-xo.html Good luck

Because most people don't know their limitations perhaps.

The ping is higher over Wifi. The speed is faster over wifi but it is consistently fast enough with lower latency over Ethernet.

Hi, newbie question, I have a galaxy tab 7+, is it possible to connect an android/firestick to it? 👍

Keep up the good work. Are you using the virgin hub 5?
Great video thanks for sharing🎉

I currently use a direct ethernet o to my G1 box. Were you showing those speeds with a VPN connected? If so that is amazing.
Cheers, I'll have to check.
Do you have a link to the Homatics review you did? I can't seem to find it.

I am not sure if getting a USB 2 Ethernet adapter will make a difference I just wanted to get the usb 3 because it can hold up to faster speeds

Thank you I'll give it a go it's a brilliant app too!
Why is your latency so high? You're ignoring latency and jitter in your tests. I'd still always prefer wired even at usb2 speeds
Direct Connection Will Always Be Faster Than Wifi
All sorts of reasons why this is not always true!
The OTG cables only have one USB socket and mine has a thumb drive in it for more memory. Is there a cable with two sockets to add an ethernet port?
Hang a small 4 port USB hub off it.
My internet speed is only 80 Mbps so not going to exceed USB speeds.
Time to Move away from firesticks/TV now with the way things are
