Stevie Nicks is beyond wonderful. Stevie is even more impressive when you know a part of her life she doesn't advertise which is the countless hours she visits wounded veterans, mostly amputees. She talks to them for hours. What a brave and admirable person.
When I was in the first grade in Hall No. 1 in Sargent County, North Dakota, all 8 grades would sing this beautiful song I have never forgotten it Much later I had a small gallery in NYC I returned home one night and found that the stopper in the bathtub had fallen flooding the tub A beautiful little kitten had fallen into the tub and drowned I was just horrified It was the last straw on a miserable day where I had already learned that a dear friend was dying The next day for some reason I got off on the train not thinking what I should do I sat on a bench seriously ready to whatever somethìng to myself A beautiful young woman sitting next to me with her guitar suddenly stood up and started singing Red River Valley in this pure strong voice That was 20 years ago and I will never forget it
Chris never takes his eyes off Stevie's mouth and effortlessly sings but, even though he's the star induces her to be the lead and he the follower. The mark of a true star, like for example, Emmylou Harris.
My mom used to sing this to us when I was a kid. Before TV, and after we were all tucked into bed, she would sit in her rocker and sing us to sleep. Beautiful memory.
@@supernewf66 Yes ...I read somewhere that this song was written by a Metis woman {French-Canadian and Cree Indian}. Not about Texas at all but about the Red River of the North? Who knows?

I am in tears hearing this lovely and meaningful song. It's one of the oldest love song. My father used to sing and i am deeply in love with this song.
They bring new meaning to this song. Just beautiful. Damn, I'm a 74 year old man listening to Stevie Nicks for the first time and I've got tears running down my cheeks. I've head Chris sing before but to hear the two of them together is beyond words for me. Gotta love that sexy sway of Miss Stevie when she's singing.
stevie nicks has one of the most instantly recognizable voices of all time...whether you like it or hate it. i've always been a fan and when i saw this performance live, i loved it. yes, her voice is harsh these days, but thats what years of singing, smoking, boozing, and just living will get you. her voice is harsh, but still she sounds great and its great to know that such a great singer is willing to perform such a great song. most 'artists' today favor only their own songs.
There are so many great versions of this song but there is something so special about this one. Maybe it is partly because these experience rockers are playing a simple country song without either paying it false homage or putting it down. It is straight from the heart. And Stevie Nicks is wonderful.
Something never grow old. This song touches my heart like very few others can . . It`s not how many years you`ve spent, it`s how you spend you`re years.
+Lalo Lalouziane I remember when she recorded Don't Drag My heart around with Petty, his only request was "know the words'....she was awesome in the beginning, ain't nothing changed
It's obvious that Stevie loves this song from her heart and singing with immense intimacy, no wonder she looks young to her age. The music itself is mentally relaxing, so her attitudes does.. Her mind is in peaceful states most of the time. My dad used to whistle this music and such music, very peaceful, kind and generous man.
I love Stevie Nicks I worked in radio and was backstage at a 1977 Fleetwood Mac concert in Buffalo. Stevie walked by twice where I was with other media guys she was amazingly beautiful and still is today. She has made this old western song one of my favorites...

I had never heard Stevie Nicks sing. This is so amazing! Her voice is direct, honest and filled with the pain of love and sung from the heart. It's a bit like Paulette Carlson of Highiway 101. And to think she's belting this out at 60 years old..simply a masterful job of singing Red River Valley. I'm 76 yrs old and mostly a fan of early music. But I will give other forms of music a listen now and then. As a performer myself, I know 'good' when I hear it, and this is very very good. I'll have to look for more of Stevie Nicks now.
@micebones7544 Thanks for mentioning Paulette Carlson. I'm 83, and she was my favorite. I was sad when she retired from Highway 101. I had the pleasure of seeing Isaak in concert in 1990/91 when I worked for a concert promoter. I knew who he was because "Wicked Game" was popular but went to the show mostly for my job. Let me tell everyone - he gives one of the best live performances you will see. He can really work a room and an audience. His show ranks in my top 10, if not top 5, live concert performances ever.
