Oh no! I thought I could retrofit the tiny bit of standard German I used to know but Swiss German is so much more different than I realised. But thank you for your encouraging listening noises, they're very sweet

I love this channel! Thank you for helping and teaching. My family lives in Switzerland, but I haven't lived there since I was a baby so I didn't get to learn the language. This helps a lot for when I go back and visit my family. Please don't stop uploading videos!

Oh ja Andrea, die Aussprache ist für mich ein großes Problem, vor allem "ch" und "scht" 😊 irgendwie harter als im Deutschen. Ich lerne auf jeden Fall weiter! Deine sehr guten Lektionen helfen mir sehr! 😊 Danke vielmals für's Beibringen. Mach's gut und bis bald 👋

I don’t plan to learn Swiss German, but I watched your video out of curiosity.
I’ve noticed some similarities between Schwyzerdütsch and Elsassisch.
It must be due to the fact that they both derive from Alemannisch.
    1) German sounds ST/SP are also pronounced SCHT/SCHP in Elsassich
    2) T is also close to D, same goes for P/B
    3) We also use Mir instead of Wir
    4) ÜE is widespread. We tend to replace U by ÜE (ex : süecha/ suchen ; Küecha/Kuchen ; Müeter/ Mutter ) whereas your replace U by UE (Mutter/Mueter; Gut/Güet (el)/Guet (ch))
    5) We use d'r Büe/ d’ Büewa for Buebe, both words are closer to each other than it is to standard German der Jung/die Jungen
    6) de/d'/'s is used instead of der/die/das
    But
    1) We don’t often roll or flap our r
    2) We don’t really use the Swiss -ch (which is close to the Spanish j)
In the south, we pronounce Ich as you do though, but K stays K -> Kind won't be Chind.
    3) ie stays a long i as it is in Standard German
Anyway, despite some similarities, Swiss German pronunciation makes it hard to understand for outsiders !

Sorry for my english (I'm French). A few mounths ago I saw a lesson in swiss german (Victor) and they pronunced "Sie gheisst Gaby" as a K on the beginning of gheisst (Keisst). I thought it was the same pronunciation of german "G" ?!

    • @SwissGermanBeginners
      @SwissGermanBeginners  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's possible. It largely depends on the Swiss German dialect.

I see. The thing is that every person speaks slightly different as we all have a mix of dialects. But the good thing is you can just talk however suits you best. There are no strict rules 😁

One mistake: "Schau! Die Jungs ruhen aus." is wrong! The correct form in German is: "Schau! Die Jungen ruhen aus." Der Junge is singular, while Die Jungen is plural (and not "die Jungs").
