Richard is inspiring. Love his genuine personality, knowledge and skills, all while still taking guitar lessons. This guitar is a little out of my style but I keep wanting another semi-hallow and this keeps catching my eye. And now hearing these sounds!… Great demo!
Incredible guitar and Richard is such an amazing down to earth dude who truly appreciates his fans, a guy that really deserves all his good fortunes. Great demo Zach, as always!
100% agree! Wasn't on my radar until recently and the more I see and hear of him the more I like. These guitars (the black and the white falcon) sound fantastic!
Great as Always! Everytime I Watch your videos i'm Always more coinvinced that your YT Channel Is one of the most underrated. Hope that you'll have the audience you deserve very soon! 🤘
Couldn’t quite place it at first…but the Kings of Leon riff reminds me alot of Interpol-Rest my Chemistry? Awesome demo 😎I thought it was interesting that Richard Fortus said in his rig rundown that the gretsch kind of sits “around” Slash’s chunky Les Paul tone
Thanks for running through a bunch of different songs, tones and amps it really helps! I know I'm going to purchase this guitar it's perfect for what I'm doing. I wish somebody would show a clear video of the heal.
Congrats on NGD!! I just scored a USA White Falcon that’s been on wishlist a long time!! Gretsch very diverse instrument that doesn’t get enough recognition for its versatility imho!! Cheers!
Another great video. I really love your playing, and the way the music on your videos don’t sound over processed. That guitar looks awesome. We have similar tastes. Thanks for the video and review.
What a fantastic demo - best one I've seen for any guitar, not just this model. Showing everything it can do with a wonderful range of songs and tones - and incredible playing too! Well done sir.
100% agree. Different amps, different styles. Clean to shred. Showcases the guitar very well, and obviously the amazing playing. Just very well-designed and informative video. Let the guitar do the talking!
Great guitar! I'd love to try the white one eventually. I downtune a lot and the 25.5" scale length would be awesome for that. Thanks for checking out the video!
Does quality gear make you a better player? probably not but I definitely never want to shut it down and end up playing for literally hours so maybe. Ive been slowly selling off my cheap guitars and buying far more quality stuff. Im on a Tele and Strat thing right now but when I plug in my Gretsch I suddenly am reminded of how incredible and unique they are. That RF Falcon is so bad ass man. Enjoy it. I'll probably never end up with one of those. The Richie Kotzen Sig Tele is what I'm all about at the moment. Its just a different animal. Much like Richie I like simple simple simple myself. Plug and play bro.
This is a phenomenal demo of this guitar!!! I'm looking at this one being my next big purchase. I'm guessing this bad boy can pretty much do anything convincingly save maybe the heaviest of metal? It almost sounds like a 335 and falcon had a kiddo and this is what it be? I love me a gretsch and I've watched this video about 10 times lol thank you for this gift!!!
That is one of the greatest guitar demos I’ve ever heard. Whoa. Amazing playing and choices. What was that mellow arpeggio song in the beginning? Is that Norah Jones? Amazing playing man.
Thanks so much for the very kind words James! I'm a long time fan of your channel as well since the early days. Yeah, that's a Norah Jones tune called "Don't Know Why." All off the other riffs are in the video description if you're interested. Appreciate you checking out the video! Hope you're doing well.
Gretsch really nailed the look- dead spot on. Great pickups/volume too, love when you can dial back and get a rich cleanish tone- basically adds an extra channel. Great review Z Dub.
I suspect that Gretsch could put those RF filtertron pickups in any of their economy priced semi-hollow guitars and turn them into bargin stradivariuses.
Awesome Zack!! If you can share the effect settings on She Sells Sanctuary I would deeply appreciate it. I can never seem to get it right. This sounds perfect! Bravo! Love this guitar!
Sure thing. I'm using the Soldano SLO 30 on the Crunch channel, so really any mildly crunchy amp would do. The riff starts with the volume backed off on the volume knob and then roll it up to increase the gain when the band kicks in. For this riff I'm actually applying the effects in post. So it's the SLO 30 > Suhr 2x12 Cabinet > SM57 & TLM102 mics > into Logic. Then in Logic I'm using the stock "Flange Factory" flanger on the default setting and then into a delay with the repeats set at 420ms. It doesn't have to be those exact effects. But to me, that tone sounds like Guitar > Flanger > 420ms delay > crunchy amp. Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video, Zach! The guitar sounds fantastic, as does your playing. Have you tried the white version, yet? If so, which one do you prefer? I just subscribed, btw.
Hey Zach! What a great video (as usual)!!! What a versatile and great sounding instrument! How would you compare it with your Les Paul Custom? Does it have any noise issues being semi hollow when playing high gain stuff?
Thanks so much! The Gretsch and LPC are pretty different guitars as are most semi hollow vs solid body guitars. The Les Paul has a bit more of a solid and tight bottom end and is a bit more focused compared to the Gretsch. Semi hollow guitars tend to react a bit slower but in a really cool way. The notes have a bit more air around them. Slightly less low end more open top end. It's really difficult to try to describe tonal differences like that unfortunately. These particular Gretsch pickups are pretty bright and chimey as well. If you're playing high gain with a semi hollow, you kind of have to watch for feedback a bit more. If you face the cab, the guitar will typically begin to feedback a lot faster than a solid body guitar but you can use it to a cool effect if you're able to control it. Depending on the kind of sound you're going for, using a noise gate can help a lot to clamp down on the signal when you're not playing. Hope that's somewhat helpful haha. Again, always weird to try to describe tones in text. Take care!
@@ZachWish I know what you mean. I was looking to buy a Custom but the prices have skyrocketed lately so while I was looking for possible alternatives I remembered this demo and came back for a revisit. This is the only guitar that tempts me to ditch the used LP Custom project. Thanks for the reply man, I really appreciate your time and effort. Take care!
I sent this to my dad, he needs one but doesn't know it yet. Haha! You've tapped into a Jungian archetype of the collective unconscious. Enjoy the ride, it's going up for you.
Loved the Norah Jones curveball in the line up. Hahaha! Great playing as always. 👍
Badass! Has some Billy Duffy vibes!
Never mind got to the Cult part.lol🤘🤘
On call.. man what a killer tune. You play everything wonderfully
Richard is inspiring.

Great demo!
On Call! Love all the riffs and love Gretsch.
Thanks for actually playing this axe in the beginning through a few different amps!
Welcome to the Falcon family! Looks like my Falcon's evil cousin.
"That great Gretsch sound" ain't no lie
Right on! Thanks so much Simo. You always make yours sound great. Hope you're doing well.

@3:36 wonderful choice to showcase this guitar. Amazing work as usual!
Thanks for running through a bunch of different songs, tones and amps it really helps! I know I'm going to purchase this guitar it's perfect for what I'm doing. I wish somebody would show a clear video of the heal.
Probably my most played guitar at the moment! Definitely a cool one. Thanks for checking out the video.
🤘🤘Norah Jones🤘🤘
Zach, so good man! One of my current wish list guitars! Great tones, playing and review!
"She Sells Sanctuary" is my official "I'm getting a speeding ticket today" song.
Sounds BEAUTIFUL! Want one.
nice playing!
Thanks so much Rett!
That sounds amazing
Congrats on NGD!! I just scored a USA White Falcon that’s been on wishlist a long time!! Gretsch very diverse instrument that doesn’t get enough recognition for its versatility imho!! Cheers!
Thanks so much for checking out the video Billy!
The guitar tone has a lot of mojo🔥
Outstanding as usual, sir.
Man you get such great tones and your playing is fucking top notch!
The pickups in this sound so good. Gretsch guitars sound great with a bit of gain if you can keep the feedback in check
Monster chops, man!! Awesome review!
Thanks so much Robert!
OMG YES. I'd love to see you do your thing on like an AC15/30.
Wow! It sounds amazing!
Another great video. I really love your playing, and the way the music on your videos don’t sound over processed. That guitar looks awesome. We have similar tastes. Thanks for the video and review.

This video is a fine example of why a “like” simply isn’t enough
Great video as always! and funny when we know that Open Fire from The Darkness was directly inspired by She Sells Sanctuary from The Cult
Yes! Fantastic as always
Excellent demonstration, always quality content from an exceptional musician! Sounds great Zach, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Jason! Appreciate it.
That’s a beautiful machine right there 🤘🏻
Was that Temple of the Dog? Loved that Cult reference too, totally apt.
Yup!
Sounds great Zach!
Thanks so much Joey!
Great video, I love Gretsch guitars 🎸
Great tones man! The Gretsch suits you man.
Nice choice 👌
Nice work, I tried the Bigsby version the other day clean through a Deluxe and looooooved it. That one also looks and sounds killer. 🤘🏼
Great guitar! I'd love to try the white one eventually. I downtune a lot and the 25.5" scale length would be awesome for that. Thanks for checking out the video!

Dude, amazing
Huge metal guy here, so as a rule im not really allowed to be into hollow bodies, but this thing is just so beautiful
Then you’re in luck because this and the other Fortus model are SEMI hollow.
This is a phenomenal demo of this guitar!!! I'm looking at this one being my next big purchase. I'm guessing this bad boy can pretty much do anything convincingly save maybe the heaviest of metal? Now THIS is a Gretsch I would love to have. They fixed every single thing I didn't like on the standard Falcon
you smash it every time mate, this guitar sounds incredible
Thanks so much!
I suspect that Gretsch could put those RF filtertron pickups in any of their economy priced semi-hollow guitars and turn them into bargin stradivariuses.
$3499.. yeah that explains part of the sound, though I will say from the video I just watched on Will It Chug? the $500 Gretsch isn't a slouch either.
Zach whatever you play you always have that huge tasty tone in your vids! Great Job. Btw, what was the name of the song that started at 06:33 ?
read the description, he lists all the songs in there
Opeth - Atonement
Straight to The Cul... I mean Darkness 🔥
Awesome
I think I found my next new favourite 🤔

the only thing thats keeping me from having a gretsch is the weird position the controllers have, great as always, zack!
I come for The Darkness, I stay for The Darkness.
9:26 The best modulation effect ever! What equipment do you use?

What's the neck back profile like? Guitar sounded amazing through those amps, much better than i thought it was going to going in.
Yo WTF the Opeth out of nowhere threw me for an absolute loop
Zach, have you tried a Dunable? I have two and I feel like you’d dig them based on your tastes
Yeah! Definitely super cool guitars.
ACDC. Check. Cult. Check. Norah Jones. CHECK!
This man knows. ♥
One question. Does this guitar suffer from neck dive with the double cutaway? Or does the center block add enough body weight? Thanks
What is the Richard Fortus treble bleed circuit values?
OPEN FIIIIIRE!
do you like it better than the ES335?
OMG.
I sent this to my dad, he needs one but doesn't know it yet. Haha! You've tapped into a Jungian archetype of the collective unconscious. Enjoy the ride, it's going up for you.
Thanks so much Theo! Appreciate it.
