  • Centerfire Systems had a 30th anniversary sale so I picked up one of the Swiss K31's. Just wanted to show mine in case anyone else was curious. Wonderful quality and glad I picked it up.
    This will be Video number 1 in a series with the K31 and my progress with her. ‪@CenterfireSystemsKY‬

    Mine is a 1941 Bern police owned K31 with the bear disk in the stock. Spent its life standing in a rack, waiting for something that never happened. Absolutely mint condition. Fantastic rifle.

    Dude, if you goal is just to have an old, beautiful rifle and to enjoy shooting it, your K31 is a good choice and a good value for the money you paid for it. I have two K31s and a K11, and the wood on yours is in better shape than any of mine.

    My rifle is all-matching, even the troop tag with the rifle serial number on the back, even the magazine is matching! stock is darker walnut is overall good condition and nice metal with minimal bluing loss. Rifle is dated 1942 and the sling is dated 1941, cant wait to go shoot it soon! I traded my Standard Modell K98k for it, well worth it!

    I saw their email one day for $399 and I jumped on it. Mine is in pretty good shape. Some surface rust on the bands, BUT it shoots 1.5 MOA groups at 100 yds with PPU softpoint!! Unique rifle that could possibly shoot sub-MOA.

    • @MidwesternFC
      @MidwesternFC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same. I knew that if I didn't grab one Id regret it in the future. I did OK with the PPU myself, finally got some GP11 to test next. Thanks for watching!

      I purchased one for $399 as well. Mine had no magazine with it however (it was stated in the description) so that was another about $60 dollars for a new repro magazine. Mine does have a troop tag under the butt plate. I also purchased a blond stock & it has some scuffing as well but nothing to terrible, no cracks in the stock however. According to my serial number it was made in 1942. Also a very accurate rifle.

    How interesting and cool that yours has a troop tag since they don’t seem so common with this batch. I ended up buying one of the repro mags for mine, figured if it’s not gonna match anyways may as well save 75.

      Seems hit or miss with the tags, kind of strange. Good point about the repo mag, I would have gotten one from Keep shooting if they were still in stock. Still might if they come back at the same price.

    Rifle looks to be in solid surplus condition. I bought 2 and they’re both what I expected from a 70-85 year old milsurp rifle. Personally I like military rifles that show their use, but not neglect. I don’t see an unserialized detachable magazine as being a big detractor. The rifle all matches, the magazine does not.

    Sweet! Back in the day, I had my C&R and bought maybe 10 and then all the Schmidt Rubin's. I was lucky enough to get a walnut with matching serial # bayonet (talk about a hens tooth!)
    I'm wearing a 70 year old Swiss leather belt as I type this. They used wax to condition leather. I still have a tub of automatinfet(??) grease. They say to match the quality of engineering and craftsmanship, it would cost way over a thousand dollars to produce them. I sure do miss those.

    So this rifle belonged to a guy from the Zürich region and a member of the Panzer Sappeur Kompanie 54. This would be an engineer unit responsible of way clearing, bridge building, mine sweeping etc. belonging to a Genie-Battalion (engineering battalion) of a Panzer Regiment. I am not sure, but I think it would be part of the Field Division 5. I belonged to the motorized rifle battalion 51 of the infantry regiment 11 (the regiment of the canton of Solothurn) of the field division 4. These structures of field divisions do not exist anymore, but were reorganized into brigades about 20 years ago. This was part of the reduction of the size of the Swiss Army (after the end of the cold war) from 850'000 men in the 1980's to 400'000 in the years 1995 and then to 200'000 in the year 2000.

    Really odd it came with no magazine, as they were normally issued to the soldiers and unless they did not want it, it stayed with them and became their property at retirement. Over the years have had a few of them, the one I bought in Switzerland had to stay in Germany as I could not self import it as it was a former military arm. Did pick up a nice one in 98 on my return. I do have my match diopter I used shooting with the team I shot with in Switzerland. The z-55 sniper mags do not have numbers, as I picked up some in Switzerland.
