As for the song, I think it’s important to remember that Ren isn’t anti-meds. He is taking a lot every day. But he has a huge issue with medical professionals not listening to their patients and figuring out the underlying cause but instead just trying out different/more meds to treat the symptoms. He was misdiagnosed for 7+ years because they didn’t listen to him and he was even told at one point that it was all in his head. He finally found a doctor in Belgium who knew right away when Ren described his symptoms, before even testing for it, that Ren had Lyme disease. Sick boi sick boi bitten by a tick boi getting misdiagnosed and worse from the medication all while the actual illness was destroying his body and almost killed him. Stem cell therapy helped a lot to get him out of bed and bring him back to the world of the living. And I believe he has technically been treated for the Lyme disease itself now? Unfortunately it had plenty of time to leave him with a bunch of other, and unfortunately probably permanent, issues. He has been in Canada since late 2022 for treatments and hopefully his symptoms will be a lot more manageable when he is done. He is certainly doing better and well enough to produce a lot more music 😊 Hopefully he will be around for many years cause the world needs Ren.
Anyway, I think a perfect follow up to this expression of the build up frustrations is to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning.

Also worked in the Mental Health system, Psych emergency as an MFT specifically. Psychiatrists are supposed to work in conjunction with Therapists and or Psychologists, but due to patient overloads and lack of proper funding, they quite literally throw medications at patients. Often in a manner much like throwing mud at a wall and seeing what sticks. In Ren's case, he was given medications that in turn did long lasting damage. Ren actually has Lyme Disease, contracted from a Tick bite and difficult to diagnose. So combined with the years of mis-diagnosis and incorrect medications, not to mention the Lyme disease left to ravage his body unchecked, Ren was bed ridden for several years. Suffering through a myriad of physical and mental issues, Ren eventually was correctly diagnosed and is currently receiving the proper treatments for both the Lyme disease and to undo the damage from the improper medications. Your reaction was pretty much on point and the energy was real, great reaction! Welcome the Ren-egades Brigade and enjoy the ride down the Rabbit Hole.

Great reaction! You didn't take it too deep. 😊Because Ren was misdiagnosed for so long, he was given meds for bipolar and other things when he didn't have that. He had Lyme disease. The doctors dismissed his pain. There's a lot there. Medical industry, music industry, etc.
And just to put this in context, this ordeal Ren went through for years is not uncommon. Not only that, but studies continue to show that the pain of patients who are female and/or Black is dismissed at a vastly higher rate than that of white males. These groupos are significantly more often misdiagnosed, undertreated, and when their pain is not dismissed,, the are consistently refused pain medication, or given less effective pain medication in smaller amounts than white males with the same or less serious conditions/symptoms.
So Ren's years of pain, being told things were all in him imagination, etc., is a problem not just for him, which was terrible and life-altering, but is a problem for huge numbers of people-- so I don't think you're going too deep at all, including when you got frustrated at their giving medications whose side effects create problems. This is not unusual, and again, as with the pain itself, it is not uncommon for patients to be dismissed (and written in their med. records) as complainers, when they tell their doctors about the negative side effects (and again, the reaction by doctors has been documented as more consistently negative, dismissive, even punitive, when the patient is female and/or Black), with an attitude of "Well, if you don't want to help yourself by taking these meds," or "Patient is uncooperative" and the like.
As another commenter noted, Ren is no way against meds, It's about being listened to and respected as a patient, and the doctors and therapists working together with the patient-- again, listening to what the patient says and respecting it, rather than dismissing it, downplaying, and worse-- so the meds are given when needed, and everyone is working together to get the correct diagnosis and the correct treatment and meds, rather than treating the patient as an ignorant, troub lesome, irritating, uncooperative child who just gets in the way who is an obstacle to the big, know-it-all professionals whenever he tries to participate or even speak.
Last, in the song's final section, he's tying the sickness of the medical industry into the sickness of our society in general.
She is his psychiatrist. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor with minimal training in any type of therapy. They are typically internists. They view and treat the human being as a biochemical system. I work in the field of mental health, and this lady is unfortunately a pretty accurate representation of many psychiatrists. Certainly not all, though. There are some very humanist psychiatrists, but often they can't afford, literally, to spend the time needed with their patients. So yes, in, pills, out is the model.

The great thing about Ren's music is that he won't ever tell you that your interpretations of them are wrong or are too deep. He is a quantum lyricist - there are so many different ways to interpret his music and all of them can be right.
I never thought of Ren's "bleeding my brain" as him talking about how he bleeds his thoughts into his music but in other songs he has mentioned that is what he does. So even if he didn't exactly mean it that way, it is a legit interpretation and one that I didn't stumble upon myself, so thank you for sharing that!
When it comes to Ren, I don't think there's ever a thing for "reading too deep", as he always has a lot of meaning in his music.

Since you're evidently taking a lot of hits for pausing, just want to say I like when you pause; first, because as you say, it's a reaction-- so I like to see and hear you react. Second, because to me, it indicates you're really into the music-- really listening, really thinking about what you're seeing and hearing. To me, this is a mark of respect for the music and all the work, feeling, care and thought the artists put into it. Doctors may or may not run all kinds of tests. But they are costly $$$, insurance may or may not cover those.
Or better and easier for them is just tell you it's "all in your head". Here is a pill to try to calm your nerves and maybe just try and get some sleep, exercise, eat better. I am 75 years old and have gone through that routine for years. I did finally get some good tests done and found out one physical issue causing some issues. Got that dealt with and then aged more with more issues. It's a constant run-around.
You got it right, "Why is she giving him pills that will make him worse?" Because it's easier to treat symptoms than to spend time finding the cause. (He does all his beats, production, and editing. A tad OCD along with his ADHD . . . and Lyme Disease etc.) You have a very insightful mind. Thanks for sharing.
