This ipad is going to be a perennial classic second hand buy 3 to 5 years down the road. Apple products tend to retain their value well even with the passage of time and this ipad modern form factor along with it A15 chip will ensure its future proof for over half a decade down the road.
The Mini feels like it was built for the post-pandemic era that's not quite here. If you're frequently reading or playing games on a train or at the coffee shop, it's great! But I'm still spending most of my time indoors, and it's tough to justify such a high price on a screen when I already have so many around me. And the 64GB is ridiculous for the price of 500 bucks!
The apps on IPadOS combined with this being the most powerful non-pro ipad I think the price is justified. I thought I was going to run out of space super quick but when I actually looked my productivity stuff actually doesn’t take up much space. I’m definitely buying an external ssd though.
Being a bit of a geek I love my tech. I had been using an iPad Pro 12.9 2017 and an iPad mini 5 for quite a while and seemed to be quite satisfied with them both. However I spend far too much time on TH-cam watching tech reviews and was tempted by the iPad mini 6 and a 2021 iPad Pro 12.9. So I sold my old devices and invested in refurbed new ones. I am so glad I did as they are both great devices. I do tend to reach for the mini most of the time. It’s a brilliant go anywhere device. So convenient for travelling.
Can you imagine getting an iphone that unfolds into an ipad mini with extremely high specs and lots of storage, and then when you plug it into a monitor, it turns into an imac or macbook. Wouldn't that be great? That's the Z Fold 4!
I said it on another tech channel but I wish Apple would have shown more real world, non-studio setting examples of the iPad. Because a lot of these colors are looking a lot different in real life and I would have considered them instead of jumping to space grey. Starlight looks like a cross between silver and gold and more muted. The purple is more lavender. The pink isn't as harsh as I thought. But either way I'm very pumped for mine to arrive.
Just sold my Tab S7 to buy this tomorrow. Torn on Starlight and Space Grey though. Wouldn’t mind purple because of how amazing the purple 12 looks, but the colors look pretty faint this year.
My workplace has an iPad Mini, an iPad and a 12.9” iPad Pro. It has significantly helped me decide what to get for my personal use as a social media manager. The Mini is perfect for its form factor, portability, comfortability in the hand (you don’t necessarily need a keyboard with it).
There's no point to a keyboard. That's like carrying a keyboard for your phone. Weird. The onscreen is more than sufficient on a device that’s about portability, imho.
I've been a HUGE fan of the iPad mini ever since I got my iPad mini with Retina display (iPad mini 2) because reading ebooks on my iPhone 4s just wasn't working. It's CRAZY portable, big enough but NEVER too big. This new one will do Anything any other iPad will do but it will fit in my jacket pocket. All the new features make the upgrade well worth the cost for me. I'll get mine with the maximum storage and with cellular (I promised myself this time). $799 which isn't bad at all considering I paid $699 for my old one without cellular! I'm a HUGE fan of Touch ID and Apple Pay! That's why I jumped onto the iPhone 6 when these features were first introduced and why I recently got an iPhone SE 2. And the new mini comes in PURPLE?! SOLD!!! I already have bluetooth keyboards (both typewriter and piano styles) in case I ever feel I need to use one. As I told Marco Arment, I didn't buy the small one because it was cheap, I bought the cheap one because it was small. Although I do still have my eye on that 12.9" iPad Pro with XDR. Wow!
I have the larger one but love to illustrate or read on smaller screens when I'm away from my desk but 64 gigs wouldn't cut it for that price and 264 gigs makes it too expensive so you start eyeing a different model. I couldn't justify buying until like two years from now when it's less expensive and refurbished ones start hitting the market 😂

What storage do you recommend? I feel like 64 is basic but I wouldn't want to run out of space. Especially since I only want it to take notes and basic things, both from school and multimedia. But the 254 version I feel is much and more expensive 😶. But I read that adding storage helps the optimal functioning of the device. But honestly I don't know if it's true 🤔
I am trading in a third GEN iPad Pro 12.9 for the 256 gig iPad mini with cellular and I’ll be getting a MacBook for real computing needs. I had the 1st gen mini and an ipad pro 9.7” as well. Thrilled to see the mini 6 is more powerful than that old ipad pro and even the current ipad air.
I had the original iPad mini 2 from 2014. The genuine Apple folio got very tatty and could not be replaced. When I bought the iPad mini 6, I bought TWO folios (not straight away). The logic is that two would wear evenly over many years and will not be available when the next model comes out with new styling of folios that won’t be compatible with the iPad mini 6. I suggest you buy two folios for every new iPad as you won’t be able to replace it later.
As always a great review. I do love the new mini. I don’t see this device being updated for a while with the exception of perhaps more storage options. As much as I want one I predominantly use my gen 5 mini for media consumption and so I will pass.
I bought the 1st gen pro purely because I just wanted an iPad without big bezels and a home button, loved it ever since and don’t see a reason to upgrade it just yet

I thought about upgrading my Note 20 ultra to an iphone and an ipad mini. But the iphone with 512 is $1300 and the ipad mini with 256 and cellular data is $800 with apple giving me $250 for my phone. A total of $1650 after trade in. My Zfold 4 got an educator's discount, $300 on top of that, and $1000 for my Note 20 ultra trade in for a 512 gb Zfold 4 with cellular. Total ended up at $500 and I can have my mini tab with me at all times. If I include phone mode, tablet mode, and Dex (desktop mode) I have everything I want. Not to mention it runs circles around the ipad mini.

I had the Ipadmini1 in 2013 and had to only ditch it in 2019 for the ipadmini5 because it became slow. Battery wise, everything was working. I may have to sit this one out since my ipadmini5 can still probably last 4-5 years. Huhuh.
would you say that 64gb is enough for a casual user who wants to use the tablet for project management apps, email, zoom/Skype/teams, spreadsheets, pages, TH-cam, netflix, Disney+, prime - with occasional offline downloads for when I'm travelling. I'm just worried that in 3-4 years time with app upgrades and OS updates the 64gb will end up being less than 5gb. And if things get tricky is the 200gb icloud storage worth it? Essentially is 64gb big enough for 4 years of OS updates and few apps?!
Yeah, external or cloud storage is the solution when full. For your given use case you shouldn’t have any trouble with the 64gb especially if you delete movies after watching you’ll be set for quite some time.

So far I enjoy the iPad mini. It is great for reading or watching some shorts. But the box was wrapped in plastic not as mentioned in the video just sealed. Also the packaging itself looks not so eco friendly. What I do not understand. For iPhone the company is removing the charger for environmental reasons and here it is included. Doesn't makes sense. Maybe a coupon in the box for a charger if you need one would be a better idea. That gives some mixed signals that they are not so convinced with there ecological goals.
Streaming services don’t have the video reaching the bezels. I understand the black bar and the top and bottom but on the sides as well also. I’ve zoomed in and out and still have these bars.
Does this iPad mini 6 have Apple Pay? Does the rear camera able to do any form of background blur like in many iPhone XR phone that only has 1 cam and software does the magic ? Does it have haptic vibrator or any vibration in silent mode ? And how it works in sun light outdoor usage for the screen as it supposedly has anti reflective coating
Just bought ipad pro few weeks back now i regret😂wish i could wait for some time for mini as it is more of a tablet. Best form factor as a tablet and affordable. Anyways will wait for next ipad mini

After i saw this review, i bought the ipad. And after 3months, im happy with my purchase.

You can just get an external hard drive when your gb is full, that’s far more sheap then to get the 256
