Mola.
Amazing playing. Might be a stupid question but can the fretless guitar do everything a fretted guitar can do? I can't see why it can't however Bumblefoot plays a double neck guitar: one neck is fretless and the other is fretted. Cheers.
That's a good question... Most important difference is loss of sustain, specially in thinner strings. Besides that chords are really tricky and a real pain in the a** to intonate, some voicings are almost unusable, and those include your usual bar chords. There's some other subtle stuff, but I'd say those are the major differences.
@@nicohdeth Thanks for the response - it does look like it'll take a long time to get used a fretless. I've seen some fretless guitars with fret markings (lines representing frets) and it appears (at least) to assist in alleviating those chord-intonation issues. I'm getting a luthier to build me a custom guitar and I was wondering if 'fretless' is the way to go because a fretted guitar - by is nature - is never in tune in all areas of the neck. However, I reckon I'll tolerate those out-of-tune region just for the convenience of knowing what notes I'm playing. Good effort with Morbid Angel on that thing.
@@firststep7750 Hmmm, I'd try to play a fretless before ordering a custom build, it's not everybody's cup of tea. This one I'm using is a "frankenstein", I just had the fingerborad replaced because I was having issues with some frets. Fret markes will give a clue, but you still have to intonate the notes, and besides the bar chords you'll still have trouble with quite a few other voicings where you must use several fingers in one same fret (Say, an A major chord). Feeling the string is also quite different, as you have no "air" between the string and the wood... It's not easy to explain in a few words, you have to experience it. Thank you very much for your comment!
Good question!! I think it was "somewhere in the middle", on purpose... Somehow the original tune called for that inside my brain, as if they were playing with thin strings and pressing too hard and messing the intonation. I guess you could achieve that sliding to the 3rd fret and then doing a little 1/4 step bend. Just "yank" the string a bit downwards. Or just play the 3rd fret if that sounds better to you, of course.
I'm glad you liked it... I would advice you to try a fretless instrument before attempting any major "surgery" in an existing one. There are some major issues to be dealt with, apart from intonation, I'd say mainly lack of sustain. Thank you for your comment!!
Sick guitar and playing!

on the chorus are you sliding from 1 to 3 or 1 to 4 "fret" (on the 7 fat A# string)? Thanks
