Rap bass has changed. It was more bass in the 90s more like a rumble but the bass also had a sound to it. I don't know how to explain it but 90s rap bass sounds way different then today's quick punch bass
My mind immediately went to Splat as a reference for what's to come and honestly it's opened my eyes to how much potential there is still untapped in electronic music
You deserve so much more views and recognition for the incredible content you put out. This was an incredibly informative and interesting mini-doc to watch!! Thank you for making such cool content for the bass music scene and please never stop
Vince Staples fish theory is one of my favorite experimental rap albums, the beats shares a lot of similarity to dubstep. Also SCARING THE HOES by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown this year has insane production which is also very similar
19:58 "deadsick ep, which released just a couple of weeks ago" 💀 tell me this video was in the works since forever without actually telling that great work, as someone rather uneducated when it comes to rap & bass, this video gave me some new directions to look into
EXCELLENT work on this one man :) editing is next level and i love how you went to the absolute beginning of the genre crossover, its so cool to learn the history of these genres we all love so much.
been exploring this style for a min (original rap/bass combo) happy to hear some love for it!!! doc is insanely well researched, mad props to nawtystep 🖤
i feel like a big rap movement in bass music would be cool, im pretty young so i bassically grew up listening to grime from when it got big and i've always loved it so i feel like with the new label this could definatly be something the bass scene needs
Just leaving a comment here saying what an awesome job you did with this video. One of my inspirations that keeps me going in my own content! Hope I can collaborate with you one day on a documentary with the edm videos!
Good summary of the history of Bassrap. Always have been a big fan of Foreign Beggars and many other names you mentioned here. But I think emcees can be really annoying. Not if they are actually rapping, but when they are just hypemen.
@@captainhero6550 RIP TUBBY, mayday drive by, autodrill, midnight request line 4x4 bootleg, don’t fucking lose this (tsuruda), hotplate (moody good) just to name a few
RAP x BASS IS THE FUTURE 🙌✨
Patreon only is the present as well

Editor here, thank you for all the kind words!
nice work bro
Amazing work, man. Top tier.
great work!
Bass music and rap have always gone hand in hand. Some dubstep beats can even pass as a rap instrumentals.
And vice versa a lot of grime beats especially old ones can pass as dubstep tracks
Love the documentary style video! Editing was clean and the script was well written!!
yo bowtied media is here too
i’m working on a bass music album ft rap verses from myself & some of my friends, so this vid was the perfect boost of inspiration!
My mind immediately went to Splat as a reference for what's to come and honestly it's opened my eyes to how much potential there is still untapped in electronic music
Love everything about this video

Why i was thinking this had something to be with splat of virus syndicate 😂 i just had to read the description to realize it was right.
Super informative vid, thanks for putting this together!
Virus Syndicate's Bad Medic Records is a great way to showcase how rap and bass can blend
My dream is to start a Rap/Bass music hybrid record label that releases songs that merge elements of both genres. I think it would sick
Such a good vid! Thanks!
Thanks
That was dope. Well put together
Bravo
The docs are back?!?!
Cannon Fire is so swag
what's that intro song? it goes hard asf
