    They are surprisingly athletic. Ours enjoyed trail hikes up to three miles with no problems and loved scrambling up rocks.
    He was also the only dog I’ve ever had that I can honestly say there is no situation I can think of that would trigger him snapping at me. Just a wonderful dog to have around the house (provided he got a daily walk!).
    And yes, he really disliked rain lol.

    I got one today. He found outside in the rain! Tried to find his owner but no luck. Although, I think it was meant to be. He is absolutely amazing with my five year old daughter. They’re sleeping quietly in her bed together right now. She makes him soo sooo happy! He looks identical to an Australian terrier but he seems small

      Kaitlyn Alexander If you’re in Australia 🇦🇺 that’s slightly believable, if you’re over seas the chance of that is zero.... They cost a lot here in Australia and they’re rare, so the purchase price, and the endless flight, and the EXTREME quarantine... Chances a stray dog being an Aussie is slim to none at all in Australia, if you are anywhere else, it’s a mixed breed that looks like..

      If he seems small, it might be a Silky terrier instead.

    I have watched your video so many times and each time brings a smile, as I can relate so well. My Oscar is 4 years old now and looks just like one of your dogs. Sweet, smart, cute, eager to please, stubborn, loves walks, loves his humans, great sense of humour. He is not terribly brave like his ancestors, but that seems to only add to his sweet spirit.

    My Ausie was the best dog I ever had. He just reciently passed away, and I miss that little mischtif maker so much! So smart and loyal. I never had to worry about him running away, all he wanted was to be next to me.

    It’s interesting you said something about them being around the cowboys neck. Mine comes from the top of the couch and snuggles there.

    I am now on my 4th Aussie Terrier. My 1st 3 lived till the ripe old ages of 18, 17 & 15. My latest is a 12yo rescue and if I ever get my hands on the person that abused her the way they did, well lets just say they'd be "sorry". Aussie Terriers are the most adorable, lovable and loyal breed ever to walk the earth as far as I'm concerned. EVERYTHING you said is 110% true. Great video. Thank you!

    I bought a Yorkie that turned out to be a purebred Australian Terrier. He’s the best dog ever. Very protective and the easiest dog to train. & yes don’t leave them alone too long. My boy ate half a wall once 😑

      I spent 8 years thinking Rico was a Chihuahua-Yorkie like his 'brother' Chewee - they looked nearly identical as pups. It was only when TH-cam served up "Judy' doing tricks that I learned this breed exists. Now my boy is 13 with a failing heart, but still playful as a pup, and so loving and loyal. th-cam.com/video/EKKjr1JbZXs/w-d-xo.html

    NONE of our terriers EVER ran off ....We thought Sidney did but were ashamed at being mad her poor thing ...she was going blind and we did not even know it ...we often let her and the others wander around out (unfenced) property and they would come back in whenw called them ....we had no idea she had been loosing her eyesight...she got out past her recognition and could not find her way back...we yelled for her until we were horse until finally we spotted her ... the poor dog could just barely see we just did not know! She went utterly completely shortly after that incident ....but prior to her being blind the breeder actually called us saying EVERY puppy from her litter was going blind or already had....weird genetic defect

    My wife & I are working on our third generation for the past 34 years. Always bonkers with happiness when you come back home.. We have never had one to be a digger. He loves us, of course, but also loves any stranger or other dog. He will frequently sit on my lap as I'm having my first cup of coffee - trying to read my newspaper - watching TV. Quite a challenge! He will jump off my lap to bark at the dogs in a commercial on TV. I trained him with PLAIN Cheerios. He loves them. He doesn't care for rain but will go out into his fenced yard to bark at thunder. Will come back in sopping wet. Crows and hawks are off limits in our yard. Never a digger - barks only when other dogs are walking near us - Never has destroyed anything in or out of the house. My Sir Thaddeus Feathernickle II (Tad for short) is a WINNER!

    I never liked small dogs until I met this breed. I'm torn between the Aussie and Golden Retriever. lol
    I've had many a Golden through the years... Yet this breed is so so loving and very in tune with people (if their owners treat them properly).

    I cried and was totally heart broken when my Aussie passed almost 35 years ago now. I think of him often. I now do gardening and do not have fences but I keep imagining having a friend who would stick around when I was outside. My Aussie 35 years ago loved to run over to the Power Plant sub-station. I wonder if the magnetism in that plant was attractive to him. It would take a half day or more to find him and entice him back home. Great dogs though. The best dog I've ever had.

    I’ve got a genuine delight of an Aussie and one that looks like an Aussie but is half Yorkie and half god-knows-what, and they look just about the same but the half-yorkie is a bit broader and chunkier😂

      Omg! I had a silky terrier named Riley!! Now I think he was actually an Australian terrier since he was about 13 pounds which is bigger than a silky. I miss him so much. He died tragically a few months ago.😢

    My aussie has a super good memory for those who take him for walks. We have these relatives who come by for a visit once a year. When Elmo (the dog) sees them it's paaarty time. He keeps _demanding_ them for a walk for as long as he gets what he wants. Towards other visitors he shows little to no interest. =P

    • @joonamikkonen2774
      @joonamikkonen2774 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aaaah it's so funny to hear another aussie owner share their notions about the breed. "They _DON'T_ like rain". =D That's absolutely true! Mine would go out in the rain yelling at the sky to make it go away. Then the walk would continue like it was a teenager on a compulsory gym class run.

    Aussies and Jack Russells, superb little dogs in the Australian Bush. They can go for a wander and you dont need to worry about them gettting bitten by a snake. They are just that quick. You do need to be a bit more careful when you walk through the bush with a bigger breed.

    I have 2 brothers, 2 years apart, same parents...Fynn is coming up 3 yrs,,,young Orlan is coming up on 1 year,,they are surely busy,,They are trained to be together for 8 hours...When I get home,,,we do 2 miles.walking....and yes my old Jack cat rules the house...and yes,,,they do not like rain unless I drag them to the park.....Food motivated, yes,,,I found tough to potty train.

    I had a Australian terrier we had him for half a year or so his name was Murphy haven't had a dog since he was my first he was nosey and great around children and family if he were let out he would sort of run away but stay in the area and act like he was playing tag he would pop his head round the gate we would call him and he speeds of again he was always coutious about cars so he was very smart I miss him so much I always took him for walks we had to give him away to complete strangers cuz are landlord put are house up for sale instead of renting and we had to move the only place we could live in the landlord forced us to give him away 😭😭😭 anyway you probly weren't interested to hear that so I'll just go

    • @JT-rx1eo
      @JT-rx1eo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think 15 to 18ish or so pounds is the correct answer. Yorkie terriers are usually 3 to 8 pounds and Silky terriers about 10 pounds. Silky terrier is a cross between yorkies and Aussies. I had a silky. 10 pounds. Looks a lot like the Aussie.
