@@kenjichapman6447 this is an unusual play. He stolen 2nd base on swing by the batter. But the was interference when the bat made contact with the catcher’s helmet. So Ohtani had to go back to 1st. Then the next batter comes up and Ohtani steal 2nd again. He’s so fast that he’s able to outrun many plays like this. And his slide onto 2nd base is perfect in my opinion.

@@Cliffem82 it’s crazy, the tickets are only 10-15$ usd to see the angles, history book stuff is happening and because the team isn’t good…no one is showing up. LA fans are some of the most fair-weather though, I grew up in Chicago. So don’t don’t test this…Cubs/Bears games sold out and we knew we were gonna lose. Anyways we gotta celebrate this guy, what an amazing display of talent.
While the all the other starting pitchers are resting and practicing between starts, this guy is out here mashing homers and running bases like a madman. I love it!

Shohei's second MLB season is already really damn close to Babe's best two way season, 1919, stat-wise of course.

There might be players in the future who will do this better than Ohtani, but he's definitely the best we've seen so far.

I'm a basketball fan, I don't know anything about baseball, I don't watch anything about baseball and yet I see clips of Shohei popping up my feeds, and I have to say I'm enjoying this a lot.
Shohei has been doing the unexpected like batting a single then stealing second base, stealing 2nd base twice, bunting to get on base and running to home on a single shallow hit. He’s ALL HEART!!

Shohei was at first base due to four ball. In fact, he has been hitting almost only homers lately, not sure if he did any singles.

Many people know that he hits a big home run and throws a very fast ball but doesn't know that he is very fast.
Dude is 6'4". I was stationed in Okinawa and was in Japan for a bit. Not a single Japanese person was taller than myself and I'm 6'1". He's a freak of nature. It's no wonder everyone is so fascinated by him. Once in a lifetime talent.

@A Z I know plenty of 6'4" people that can't run like that. He's just fast. The fact that he was able to not only steal second base twice (when everyone and their mother knew that he was going to steal it the second time) and then score from second on a drawn in outfield. That's pure speed... and a great slide to cap a win. 🏆And he's a pitcher (who's also a DH), not exactly a position generally known for such athletic performance.

The starting pitching is tolerable because the offense will keep them competitive. The bullpen is key. Look how many games are lost by the bullpen. The bullpen is the weakest link for the Angels.

Yep, thats a big deal. He essentially sprinted a total of 360 feet in a a relatively short time where if he is just s tiny bit off he is out.

Even Babe Ruth dual played for only 2 seasons in Boston with limited pitching at the mound, and pitched no seasons on the Yankees - so it was tough to do back then, and ludicrous to pull off what Shohei's doing now.
Enjoy the greatness while it lasts. If Ohtani (knocks on wood) manages to stay healthy and continues his great performances in both roles for the rest of the season, it'll go down in sports and baseball history for the ages!
I feel much the same. It would be great if he stays healthy and continues to be this great for awhile. But he could be a bit like Bo Jackson and be sidetracked by injury. It's enough that we've have this level of greatness and uniqueness for any length of time.
