Take a reasonable look at Ohtani’s pitching and hitting craziest stats. I see MVP arguments for both. And understand ppl defining “valuable” in different ways. But, What is not fair? To NOT select a player merely just because he’s won the award last season. He definitely deserves the back-to-back MVP recognition.

Shohei started to throw two Seam in August. At first he started with a pitch or two and he added 3 or 4 pitches in next game. Then after he saw a the Yankees throwing a 100 sinker outside the strike zone and he showed a surprised expression as Shohei saw the scoreboard (We all thought at that time). In Shohei's next start, he upgraded his sinker speed from mid 90s to 100 in box & the hitter could do nothing except watching to be struck out. In next start, Shohei threw a 101sinker inside the strike box and struck out the player with an effortless pitch. The ball was like casted by magic with a Z lighting movement. Shohei had thrown about 8 or 9 sinker pitches in that game. Those sinkers are not sinkers what usually see, they were like magic spells being seen through CG graphics and were unreal in its lighting speed. OMG😱 was my only response in his every single sinker pitch that day.
Shohei is the only reason why I started watching baseball. Until then, I didn't even know the rules of baseball at all. And I don't know why, but I often cry when I see him pitching💧
Me too! I was so amazed and trapped by Shohei's beautiful pitching movements. Unicorn 🦄 Shohei is so elegant yet powerful, dynamic, and dominant at the mound! Ohtani DH is always smiling like a lovely little league boy. Yet Pitcher Shohei is like like a king ruling his kingdom on the mound (Shohei's previous Japanese Professional team manager said Shohei has two different personalities in the plate and on the mound) . Many batters kneel down to Shohei's majesty as Shohei casts his magic balls to them. Sometimes the hitters'bats flew away from their hands after Shohei gave them the spells (sliders usually). We can never find a Pitcher so charming and attractive as Shohei Pitcher, Shohei's pitching is always so marvellous and entertaining like watching a magic show that we don't know what kinds of pitches would come and in what kind of combinations. Sometimes it's so insane for Shohei's choices of pitches. Shohei has 5 kinds of sliders and 6 types of elite pitches. And so the batters have no idea what will come to them.
It is really hard to comprehend how amazing Shohei is. His true value can be only visualized for two year period because he is a two way player. This is same as 56 2B, 14 3B, 80 HR, 195RBI hitting only season followed by 293IP, 24 win, and 375 SO pitching only season. Only full time two way player can achieve such a feat. We have just witnessed baseball history which may never be broken again.
@@matthewarrington237 Yes. If someone wants to repeat his two year output as a pure hitter one year and a pure pitcher the next year, those are the numbers.
Not quite, you'd need 1100 at bats to replicate that for the hitting season which is impossible, so he'd have to go like 0-500 in his pitching only season lol.

Shohei is the greatest baseball player of all time. It's an absoult honor to be able to watch this man perform. "History in the Making" "A true living Legend" "Shohei Ohtani"
This is what it means to be MVP... Ohtani's insane win stat when he starts a game and wins: ERA: 0.69/gm Bat: 1.3 runs/gm Not even allowing a run a game yet produces over a run a game. Just pause and think about that. He wins his own games. This is the true definition of an ELITE MVP player who can single handedly win games on his own. NO ONE else can say that. Not even Judge.
If Ohtani didn't win this season MVP, we'll be looking back at this highlights in the future and we'll be questioning ourselves how in the world he didn't won the MVP that season. He's a video game character. No one would believe it if he's not doing what he's been doing. Doubting the fact that he's an absolute MVP is freaking absurd in my opinion. Lets go Sho!!!
his only qualification is the fact that he’s a 2 way player. if you look at his season as a pitcher and hitter separately, neither of them are mvp/cy young years compared to the rest of this years contenders. verlander was the better pitcher by a long way, judge was a better hitter by a long way obviously what ohtani did is amazing. he’s obviously the most talented athlete in the sport this year. but that’s not what the mvp award is about
he is the MVP!! American media doesn't want to accept an Japanese/Asian to be back to back MVPs. Racism continues in western countries - especially against asian or asian descent athletes - unfortunately!!
People still don’t understand what he is doing and what it mean for baseball …. What JUDGE is done is amazing with 62 HR…. But what Ohtani is doing is once in a century and doing it better than babe Ruth.. ask any baseball pros .. you just don’t have enough time in a day to become professional hitter/top pitcher ….
As long as Ohtani is Pitching and Hitting, he is the most valuable player in the league. End of story. We are so lucky to be alive to witness this generational talent.
Shohei is more than a century unicorn 🦄 , the truly two-way legend. Even Babe Ruth couldn't do what Shohei had accomplished this and last seasons and Shohei had also passed Babe's records while continues to make far more new historical MLB and baseball records throughout his games.
He probably thinks his competitor is not Aaron Judge or any other players but this year’s himself. His own past performance is the only milestone he wants to surpass because he is making history. His next year will start at 19:00 JST (UTC+9) on March 9, 2023 in Tokyo, Japan when WBC starts.
I'm sure Shohei Ohtani is the main and strongest reason for majority of the traffic to MLB contents. Just look at the comments, views and likes of his videos. I don't think any MLB player holds such a power. I hope and wish he stays healthy with outstanding and historic achievements in the upcoming seasons.
Thats just a cliche ur saying like u heard it and repeated it without thinking… EVERYONE realises how special he is right now…. Ps. 700 million reasons confirm it
Before, I had no interest in baseball. I started watching baseball because of Shohei Ohtani. I'm really happy to see him doing well in pitching and hitting. I will continue to watch baseball until the end of his baseball career.
Listen MLB, Ohtani brought me back to watch baseball again. No other player even someone hitting 60+HR would’ve done that. Come on this guy is the athlete of the year. It’s hard to compare different sports, but no other athlete in any other sports can do what Ohtani is doing, a two way player in a fierce competition like MLB at a top level performance. I have never seen a quarterback with another job in NFL. This guy is a real deal. He’s only been doing what has never been done before.
im an Ohtani fan but Judge led the league in too much and led his team to the postseason, I wouldn't be mad at all if Ohtani won MVP, in fact I'd be happy, but quite a lot of people would complain, it wouldn't be good for MLB overall
Without Ohtani, I would never have watched baseball again. He is the one and only and gives me joy. Someday there may come a time when he may not be pitched, but I will continue to root for him.
Thank you Ohtani san for your outstanding performance. I miss you in the post season games. You are too special to compare with some else. We must apologize for not yet having the right metrics to measure your two way performance. We have metrics only for traditional one-way players.
Judge's record will be overtaken by someone in a few decades. But Shohei Ohtani's record will never be surpassed. Because in the history of baseball, no one has been able to achieve it. After all, Judge's record is only a record in the limited realm of the American League.
I agree, just in the last 25 years there's been 18 players who hit 50 to 60 home runs, Stanton had 59 a few years ago, but it's been over 100 years since a player like Shohei dominated pitching and hitting at the same time, and again Stanton's numbers a few years ago is not that different from Judge, he mostly led in categories like ops & slg in few points, but just the main three. Judge- HRs 62 RBI 131 Runs 133 Stanton- HRs 59 RBI 132 Runs 123
If judge would have hit 11 more homeruns he would have tied Barry Bonds homerun record and beat McGuire and Sosa but I don't see judge as a Barry Bonds type of player
@@trevorcarey3997 Agreed. Why all the accolades for Judge when he just marginally out hit Stanton. From all the media hype, one would think he best Stanton HR by a longshot but instead only by 3.
he may not win MVP but he's MVP to me and a lot of others and that's really all that matters. the reason there's been an increase of people watching baseball again or for the first time is because Ohtani, he is undeniably the most valuable player to the MLB as a whole. what he's doing for baseball is so special, spectacular, and historic. and his personality and humbleness to boot! he sets a great example to kids watching him, to always react in grace and work hard. he's just an amazing athlete all around and an even better person.
"He's MVP to me and a lot of others and that's all that really matters." Lol what kind of logic is that? He's either MVP or he isn't. Judge captivated baseball this year because of his chase for 62 on an actual playoff squad in the greatest organization in North American sports. Ohtani is great. But he was not the most valuable player this year.
@@rocknrollstar2798 you're missing the point. it doesn't matter to me if Ohtani or Judge win MVP, because to me Ohtani's the most valuable because he's the one who drew me to baseball. It's funny how Judge fans constantly have to prove why Judge should win even when he isn't even brought up in the first place. like Ohtani fans can't even compliment him without someone coming in and trying to take it away.
@@peach1347 It's funny how Ohtani fans are saying he should win MVP as if it's obvious when there's a 6'7 280 pound giant breaking the home run record and leading a team to the playoffs.
Don't care about the judge guy because I'm not a baseball fan. I only watch baseball because of Ohtani. @@bailysbeads2057 If you look at Ruth's career he only played 1 full season hitting & pitching at the same time and that was 1919, and Superman Shohei passed all his records as a full 2 way player.
You'll never see a player like this again.
THE ONE and ONLY MOST VALUABLE PLAYER!
I always thought Mike Trout would retire as the greatest baseball player that I ever seen. Ohtani might just be the greatest athlete that we have ever seen and no doubt already the greatest ball player in history with no close 2nd. The man is just not human
Some of the highlights of Superman Shohei Ohtani's MVP season, 31.1 scoreless streak, 6 Straight Starts of 10 or more Ks, had 8 RBIs in a game & the next night had 13 Ks, 18 game hitting streak (while also won 3 games 21 innings with 25 Ks), dominated the 106 win Houston Astros 4 earned runs in 29 innings with 45 Ks, and 1st player to Win 10 or more games & have 30 or more HRs, the real MVP🏆
Had 8 RBIs Game
Incredible when you stop to think about it
That all??? Lol
23 game hitting streak and only player to qualify as a hitter and pitcher.
Is it possible???
He is the best. He is my MVP.
Ohtani, the only reason I watched baseball.
I like Ohtani. I love Ohtani. I'm crazy for Ohtani.
Thank you for a really good season.

The Reason why I watched Baseball again. From the Philippines where Baseball has no room.
He started to throw 98mile sinker after half of season.
It is unbelievable.
This nuked boy is Chinese.
Judge is AL MVP

I'm in tears right now watching Shohei's highlights🥲
I realized that it wasn't because I was getting older and tearing up more easily.
If Shohei Ohtani is not the MVP, the MVP award means nothing.

@@groworchids Should Taysom Hill win the MVP in the NFL?
It is really hard to comprehend how amazing Shohei is. His true value can be only visualized for two year period because he is a two way player. This is same as 56 2B, 14 3B, 80 HR, 195RBI hitting only season followed by 293IP, 24 win, and 375 SO pitching only season. Only full time two way player can achieve such a feat. We have just witnessed baseball history which may never be broken again.
Well said
Is that number from projected full year as just that position?
@@matthewarrington237 Yes. If someone wants to repeat his two year output as a pure hitter one year and a pure pitcher the next year, those are the numbers.
Never say never
Ohtani himself will break the record again
Not quite, you'd need 1100 at bats to replicate that for the hitting season which is impossible, so he'd have to go like 0-500 in his pitching only season lol.
The GOAT. Enjoy Ohtani while hes here. There wont be another one like him for another century.
He’s the MVP…
I miss watching regular season baseball already, and I miss watching Ohtani play. Can't wait for the 2023 season!
If Shohei joins the WBC Japanese team, you might watch him play before the regular season. Shohei might have chances to play against his Angels' teammates, Trout, Fletcher, Stassi. That would be very interesting games!
@@slleung8979 Yes! That'll be so fun to watch. As an Angels fan, I wouldn't know which team to root for.

This is what it means to be MVP...
Ohtani's insane win stat when he starts a game and wins:
ERA: 0.69/gm
Bat: 1.3 runs/gm
Not even allowing a run a game yet produces over a run a game. Just pause and think about that.

Lets go Sho!!!
his only qualification is the fact that he’s a 2 way player. if you look at his season as a pitcher and hitter separately, neither of them are mvp/cy young years compared to the rest of this years contenders. verlander was the better pitcher by a long way, judge was a better hitter by a long way
obviously what ohtani did is amazing. he’s obviously the most talented athlete in the sport this year. but that’s not what the mvp award is about
he is the MVP!! American media doesn't want to accept an Japanese/Asian to be back to back MVPs. Racism continues in western countries - especially against asian or asian descent athletes - unfortunately!!
Ohtani is actually my favorite active player and I’m a Yankee Fan.
His two-way player radar chart is as close to a circle as possible. MVP.
What Ohtani is doing isn't really once in a century though...
He did it last year too. 😁
As long as Ohtani is Pitching and Hitting, he is the most valuable player in the league. End of story. We are so lucky to be alive to witness this generational talent.
More like centennial talent.
Shohei is more than a century unicorn 🦄 , the truly two-way legend. Even Babe Ruth couldn't do what Shohei had accomplished this and last seasons and Shohei had also passed Babe's records while continues to make far more new historical MLB and baseball records throughout his games.
This show gets more impact than 62 home run simply.
The more time passes, the more I realize how great Shohei Otani is.

Judge's record will be overtaken by someone in a few decades. But Shohei Ohtani's record will never be surpassed. Because in the history of baseball, no one has been able to achieve it. After all, Judge's record is only a record in the limited realm of the American League.
Yes, Ohtani might be interested in breaking Judge record 2023 or 2024 season if Shohei stays healthy throughout the next few years while making 20win.
Judge- HRs 62 RBI 131 Runs 133 Stanton- HRs 59 RBI 132 Runs 123

he may not win MVP but he's MVP to me and a lot of others and that's really all that matters. the reason there's been an increase of people watching baseball again or for the first time is because Ohtani, he is undeniably the most valuable player to the MLB as a whole. what he's doing for baseball is so special, spectacular, and historic. and his personality and humbleness to boot! he sets a great example to kids watching him, to always react in grace and work hard. he's just an amazing athlete all around and an even better person.
"He's MVP to me and a lot of others and that's all that really matters." Lol what kind of logic is that? He's either MVP or he isn't.
