3:12 why does the air cleaning stop as soon as the tool is being put into the spindle? I think the air should be on until the tool is locked inside the spindle to possibly blow chips or dust off the tool cone
@@kuei12 So it doesn't move during the machining process. even a movement of .010 or .020 will cause the part to be out of tolerance. Part contact is not on the machine table. It is sitting on blocks. Most likely shimmed to balance stock on the casting. Contact area is much smaller. Believe me the part will move. Especially during heavy high feed milling cuts.
@@russromito4903 No, it will not. I have used this same setup many many times. No issues. Take your own comment of machining 60 ton parts. No way in hell is even a 12" cutter going to move a 60, or even a 1 ton part that is strapped down like this unless you slam the ram into it at rapid feeds. Maybe that is what you do?

I agree that it would be prudent to block this setup and use an indicator to monitor any movement.
I run large machines like this. Very large parts also. Up to 60 tons. One question. Why is the part not blocked in ?
Why does it need to be?

@@russromito4903 From what I see, it looks very secure. I have never seen a part move when secured in this fashion. He is bolting right through.

It is but it will move.
