I have done some woodworks in the past but this woodwork plan th-cam.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG helps me do much in a far lesser time than i used to do i have already built several projects with this plan and i intend to do many more soon. Thank you so much!
Those 300 thumbs down were from people selling their own tools on Ebay for big money... lol. 3 pieces of wood a wing nut and a two screws? Yeah, they were making bank.
Hey, I never even look at the thumbs down. I just don't understand some people. I thought the tutorial was clear, and the demonstration well presented. But you just can't please some individuals.
Excellent tool, AND excellent description: you told us what you were going to do, you showed us how and why in making the tool, you showed us the use of the tool (how and why), then showed us what can go wrong--wow! That is excellent teaching. Nicely done!
TH-cam suggests videos based on the types of videos watched. So I wasn't surprised when TH-cam suggested I watch some other kerf maker videos. I have to say cobber, "Your kerfmaker video is hands-down THE-BEST-VIDEO-OUT THERE I HAVE SEEN SO FAR! BAR NONE!" I reiterate, bar none! Simple, to the point, and easy to use. Not too simple and not too complex. Spot-freaking-on! Thank you 😍
Hi Neil! I am Russian, but 20 last ears lives in New Zealand.Very grateful !!!nothing like this could be found on the Internet, this is what I need very much
I just made this. It works like a beauty! So simple, yet so effective. Pro tip, plane down the side that will take the wing-nut, so the top side is just proud of the bottom. This will allow the washer to get a really good squeeze on the top half.
Brilliant! Thanks very much for the video and the demonstration, sir. I've been using the "hope and pray" method thus far with plenty of failure. This takes the guesswork out of it and you don't have to sneak up on the perfect fit... you get the perfect fit right out of the gate. Nice job!
Finally! someone was able to explain this little gadget clearly. As a newbie woodworke I often seen these but didn't quite get it until now. Thank you.
Fantastic video, tutorial/build! Simple build simple explanation, the point, not over engineered, does the job perfectly and takes 10minutes to make.. great stuff (this is exactly what I look for in a YT build video!)👍
Been looking at making a "kerfmaker" for a while now. Others, in comparison, are way too complicated. This is really KISS. Thanks for the video. Couldn't be simpler.
Very good. Thanks a lot. My late father was a toolmaker and retired to do woodwork amongst other things. He worked wood like he worked metal. He loved inspired thinking. You would have made him smile.
Thank you for this video. The design is simple, effective, and doable. After blowing up/flinging my first one with a cheap rabbeting bit I made a second try and got a nice one that didn't try to blind or maim me. A couple of tests to dial it in and I am SO pleased with it. I was able to cut 6 long dados with it to build my daughter a bunch of picture frame ledges. Nailed them all on the first try. Thanks so much. This thing *rocks*.
Finally! A lot of folks show how to make it but very few bothered showing how to use it! Thank you very much for clearing it to me. I'll be making mine shortly.
I have had Microjig’s Matchfit in my amazon cart while I pondered making one myself. This evening, TH-cam recommended this video! You are brilliant sir, and it’s a pleasure to view your creativity. Thank you.
Nice. Explained what it was, showed how to make it, then how to use is. Much better than about 99% of the how-to videos on utube, and no longer than needed. I don't think I will ever need one, but very well done.
Simplest design for a very elegant solution. Your explanation made it very simple to understand. I spent an entire afternoon making one with a 3D printer but I like your design so much better. Great video, thank you for sharing!
I am an amateur woodworker, yet I could easily understand how to make the kerfmaker. And guess what, it worked the 1st time. I made 1 improvement, and that was to rough up the underside of the washer; gives a better grip on the jig. You are also good to listen to, with a no nonsense approach. Thanks, John Baker, Melbourne Australia.
LOVE IT!!! I have been subscribed. I have binge watched you past videos for literally HOURS!!! How is it that I have not seen this one yet!!! I am making this thing TODAY! Thank you so much for all that you share with us!
Made this little chap at the weekend , works a treat. One addition I added a dowel in the opposite end to the screw just to tie the two bits together. As the first glue up wasn’t to successful. Thanks again
Mate, your videos are just SO clear - you’re so generous with your excellent explanations. I made an alternate design a while back, and it never really worked out. This is simple and looks spot on. Greetings and thanks from the uk 👍👍👍
I really appreciate the simplicity and functionality of your kerf maker. Yours is also the only one of many descriptions and demonstrations of these things I’ve seen of these things that actually made it clear and simple to understand, so you have my thanks for that. Gonna go make one now!
Very well demonstrated. Heading down to my basement shop now to make one. Can’t believe I’d gotten by without one all these years. Should speed up my projects a bit. Thanks!
As of today (May 26, 2020) there are about 790K views and 29K "thumbs up." There should be many, many times that number. I wish more people would simply say "thanks" by clicking the "thumbs up." I only recently discovered your channel, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. Your instructions are clear, and your projects are both realistic and useful. This project is a good example. Thanks for all you do.
Absolutely brilliant and well explained to boot, especially as to why you need the blade thickness screw. And no need for a dado stack! If only I could like this twice... Now I need to make a cross cut sled... and THEN I'll make one of these.
Real good explanation. I bought an aluminum one a while back. It works and looks great. I also bought a couple of aluminum adjustment knobs and made a wood one. It works great. However I like the simplicity of your jig and your explanation is the best! Thanks.
Nice design, and not a lot of delicate cuts like some others on you tube. Thank you for sharing. Update: I just made it and adjusted the kerf screw and it cut perfectly the first time. This is so awesome! Thank you sir!
Thank you very much for posting this video on this Dado Jig. I've build and used it as it works like a charm. A true example of the K.I.S.S. principal in action. Thank you again... keep up the great informative videos.
Simple yet ingenious and very well explained, when I started watching this video I had no idea what this jig was intended for (new to woodworking) by the end I was like "Ahh that's clever" guess I should build a cross-cut jig first. excellent video.
Clever little gizmo. Thanks for showing me how to make one. I’ll make one straight away! I imagine that I could make one for each of the three blades I have, then mark on the Kerf Maker to which blade each one belongs.
I didn't even know such a thing existed, and having recently bought a table saw and having made a sled and making a number of dado joints using just the stop block method which is a bit hit and miss with regards to a tight joint, I can see that this is one of those really should have tools, thanks for sharing.
Made one this afternoon. So much easier to make then most of those complicated ones around. Easier to use as well. Thank you so much for this. Oh and a great commentary as well.
Dead simple and very effective. Exactly the way a too like this should be. I have seen fancier designs but this is way to make fast and it does the job well. Great job Pask!
Most excellent. Tools are great but it’s the fixture’s, template’s, and dare I say “ jigs” that are necessary for any serious production! Nice tutorial!👍
Thanks for this Neil :) A Kerfmaker is a great little tool and simple to make as you have shown, but its application is never explained very well. Your explanations and demonstrations always make things clear to follow. Great video :)
Thank you for posting this. I've already made and tested mine. Perfect! I almost bought one after watching some of the elaborate and sometimes a bit confusing videos. I understood you completely the first time, though I did have to play back a few parts while making it.
Great and simple design ! I've seen some other over-engineered designs but yours is waaayyyy better ! Plus very clear explanations ! Thanks a lot ! Stephan from Belgium
This was a great video to watch, I wanted to make a kerfmaker and this was just the job. Down to the workshop I go. Thanks a lot for a concise and easy to understand procedure.
Thank you very much for sharing this tip. I’ve been looking for a jig that wasn’t to complicated to make and this is it. I’m a newbie to. The woodworking community but having a blast at 65!!
Pask is THE Master of jigs, metal work and woodworking! I bought a stupid premade kerf jig on Amazon and it’s horrible! Going to build Pask’s jig and ik it’ll work brilliantly, should’ve done it to begin with!!!
Thank you. I've made many mistakes on dados over the years -- too tight, too loose. I was thinking about buying the BCTW KM-1 commercial Kerfmaker, but (a) it's out of stock at Amazon; and (b) more than $50 when they DID have it. It's $61 direct from BCTW. The KM-2 is even pricier. I don't believe they're worth it, no matter how well made. Your little DIY kerfmaker works just as well, and it was FREE -- I already had all the stuff I needed to construct one. Works like a champ. One possible improvement: Use a wood-screw with very fine threads for the kerf-adjustment -- easier to make very fine, precise adjustments.
Wonderful video, Clear to understand and simple to use. The ONLY change I would have done would be to add a washer under the head. I think over time the head would start to pull through after many uses, washer would help stop this problem. Thank you, I plan to make this tool today!!
What a brilliant idea and so easy, you've outdone yourself yet again my friend, one I will make for sure......if I keep going I'll end up having your workshop here!! Cheers 👍🏼😊
I am new to your videos but I absolutely love them. The way you teach how to make simple cheap items to help beginners like me is outstanding this is why I actually watch the annoying adds that nobody likes lol. YEAH! No more mis-cut dados! Thanks for this awesome jig idea. No more than I use a dado blade it just never seemed practical to buy one. THANKS AGAIN.
THANK YOU!! THE best info and presented VERY well - I'm definitely making this as my table saw is homemade and no dado stack for me. THIS is an EXCELLENT option! Keep em coming mate! 😁👍
*Hello there, I have requested your DVDs, for simpler and quicker approach to manufacture a shed **Allmy.Tips** I trust the substance are as you guaranteed it will be. Just I'm worried with the substance, it won't be anything but difficult to settle on a decision from the various plans.*
I've seen other TH-camrs make/use these. But never really understood their explanation. Yours was clear, simple, practical and made sense! Thank you.
300 thumbs down? Neil's one of the best at what he does. Straightforward, simple and clear. Doesn't get any better than that.
Those 300 thumbs down were from people selling their own tools on Ebay for big money... lol. 3 pieces of wood a wing nut and a two screws? Yeah, they were making bank.
I like to imagine that those people are from countries where thumbs down mean something positive.

Just cancelled my Amazon order after coming across this video.
Thanks 👍🏻

Peter Peterson, Agreed...
Great tip
Just stumbled on this, simple elegance. Like it a lot.
Oh, yeah; good idea!
I was thinking that, or, inset the washer.
Brilliant! Thanks very much for the video and the demonstration, sir. I've been using the "hope and pray" method thus far with plenty of failure. This takes the guesswork out of it and you don't have to sneak up on the perfect fit... you get the perfect fit right out of the gate. Nice job!
Thank you! :)
Just made two of these. One for the left side of the blade & one for the right side of the blade. They work beautifully! Thanks!
Finally! someone was able to explain this little gadget clearly. As a newbie woodworke I often seen these but didn't quite get it until now. Thank you.
No worries Tony! :)

Quite simply one of the best explanations of how to use and make one of these devices I've seen to date - thank you.
I too think that this is the best and simplest explanation I have seen for a kerf maker. Thank you!

That is a very simple tool. Good job! I was a tool maker for over thirty years. The simple tools are usually the best and most dependable!
Thanks Bret! :)

I watched another TH-cam video when someone made one and it was so much more difficult. Simple and easy no great fuss. Well explained
Thank you very much for posting this video on this Dado Jig. I've build and used it as it works like a charm. A true example of the K.I.S.S. principal in action. Thank you again... keep up the great informative videos.
The simplest most effective kerf maker I've ever seen. Fantastic! Well done.
Getting ready to make some half lap joints for table stretchers. This is going to work perfect for that. Thanks.
great explanation of the blade thickness causing the dado to be off. I definitely see this in my future, thanks for the insight.
Good Australian simplicity and design. Don't overthink or overcomplicate the process. Great stuff mate from Sunny Coast in Queensland.
Great tool. Made 3 today. One for me and the others for 2 of my sons. Thanks for sharing.
muchísimas gracias por compartir y por su tiempo. la mejor expresión del principio de la Navaja de Okam. bendiciones desde Monterrey México
You explained perfectly what others failed to. Excellent.
Excellent! It's a deceptively elegant solution to a common problem. Nice work!
Brilliant. I love these elegant, simple solutions! Also, very well presented, completely clear and easy to understand.
You are a genius at making life easy with simple stuff

Very nice, certainly beats measuring and marking the wood for each cut. Thank you for sharing!
Xlnt tool. Xlnt explanation. Xlnt demonstration. Thank you very much. I wish more videos were like this.

Have checked your videos out for a little while, first one I see I learn something new. Thank you
This looks like a simple and very useful addition to the shop! I cannot wait to make one. Thank you for your great videos. Off to watch some more!
So simple, but I would never have thought of it. Thanks Neil, this will have application in my future, fantastic idea.
Thank you Max! :)
Nice video! It is basically a mechanical subtraction device: thickness of the piece - thickness of the blade. Nice!
Your work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family outstanding job great attitude great idea astounding work
Simple yet does the job as well as any kerfmakers I've seen / used! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this fantastic jig! I cannot wait to make it and test it out!
You are a genius! I just watched a vid where someone was raving about a $40 version.
I’ll be making your version tomorrow! Nice job 👍
Awesome! That adjustment screw on the end is brilliant! Talk about simple and perfect.
No worries - glad you liked it! :)
i keep watching your videos which makes me add things onto my build list.. not sure how i just stumbled onto your channel after all this time.
Brilliance is making something potentially difficult simple. Well done.
Always amazing. Best explanations ever. Thank you.
Thank you very much Alex! :)

Brilliant. I had some trouble getting the rabbets correct but after that it was a breeze and it works perfectly. Thanks.
This was a great video to watch, I wanted to make a kerfmaker and this was just the job. Down to the workshop I go. Thanks a lot for a concise and easy to understand procedure.
Just made one. My plywood dados are perfect. Thanks so much.

Simple, easy to build and very well explained - thanks for taking the time to make a vid about it and share it with us!

Thank you for a clear understanding of how it works. Excellent work.
That is insanely simple, and infinitely useful!
You are the best!
Thank you as always for sharing your invaluable knowledge.

I've seen others make these, but yours is reduced to the simplest construction. Thanks.
You are the king. Clear and simple.
A very simple, elegant tool. Thanks for sharing your idea.
Wow! Simplicity at its best to increase woodworking accuracy. Thank you 🙏👍😎🇦🇺
Wow, how nice and easy! Thanks for sharing. I love the simple jigs.
Best kerfmaker video on the net. Nice and simple, easy and quick to make works a treat. *************
Wonderful video, Clear to understand and simple to use. The ONLY change I would have done would be to add a washer under the head. I think over time the head would start to pull through after many uses, washer would help stop this problem. Thank you, I plan to make this tool today!!
Everything you need and nothing you don’t, very helpful.
Well done! I am new to jig building and this one I will build. Great job explaining how it works. Thank you,Lauren
What a brilliant idea and so easy, you've outdone yourself yet again my friend, one I will make for sure......if I keep going I'll end up having your workshop here!! Cheers 👍🏼😊
Haha - thanks Marc! :)
Great jig and great video. I'm just getting started into woodworking and I think I like making jigs more than I like making projects.
Nothing better than simple things that work great.
I watched a few videos on this subject and this is the best by far. You got a new subscriber. Thanks.
I am new to your videos but I absolutely love them. The way you teach how to make simple cheap items to help beginners like me is outstanding this is why I actually watch the annoying adds that nobody likes lol. I will renew my TH-cam Red soon as Cobra Kia season 2 is released but until then I'll continue to watch the adds... Thanks again...
YEAH! No more mis-cut dados! Thanks for this awesome jig idea. No more than I use a dado blade it just never seemed practical to buy one. THANKS AGAIN.
Thanks mate. It is always the simple ideas that are the most ingenious.
THANK YOU!! THE best info and presented VERY well - I'm definitely making this as my table saw is homemade and no dado stack for me. THIS is an EXCELLENT option! Keep em coming mate! 😁👍
Thanks - glad it was helpful mate! :)
Leaving it raw. YEEEHAW ;)
Simple but great tool to have.
The way you show how to use it is easy to understand.
Thanks
A clever idea and expert application. Should save folks a lot of money and hassle given a small set up.
