    You said on Instagram that this video probably wouldn’t be exciting, but one of my favorite things about watching you work is learning about jigs and other tools you use to get consistent, great looking results. Thanks for the tutorial.

    Thumbs up for using the existing insert plate to set the fence distance to cut the new one. Some may say that was obvious but you are the first one (many dozens of videos) I have seen do this.

    I'm sure that I'm not the only one to say this, but a kerf cut between the two bolts holding the featherboard to the rail would expand the rail when tightened, not needing additional screws. I learned this from a commercially made featherboard I have.

    • @PaskMakes
      @PaskMakes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! When I've done that in the past I've found it unsatisfactory, the bolt always seems to turn as you're trying to tighten the wing nut. I reckon this way is quick and easier than trying to cut a kerf in the middle of the bar too. Both ends took literally 2 minutes to do and they lock down tight. :)

    I needed this video in 1992! Haha... I still have a scar over my solar plexus where a piece of plywood bound and kicked back on me. I was 13 or so and helping build a set for a drama production at my brother’s high school. I thought I was dying for a few seconds. 🤣

    Wiseman once told me... you are the softest thing in the shop and everything is designed to do a job like cut wood with the secondary job of hurting really bad while trying to kill you so respect every tool and piece of equipment. Don’t live in fear just use your head and think before doing...... thank you for the good video and lessons

  • @vksubra1953

    You know the last push stick you made in this video. It has a nice round side which can slide smoothly along the work piece. You just need to put a bolt whose head will fit nicely in the miter slot. Now you can put the head of the bolt into the miter slot and use your thumb to lever the push stick so that the round side is pushed against the work piece and you have the equivalent of a feather board too. Hope this made sense.
    And as usual great work. Your practical, no nonsense approach ensures that your videos are never boring

    in the united states they sell exterior trim made of PVC.
    this material works really well for feather boards because it has more flex than wood and allows for constant pressure without having to fight the work thru the blade.
    i like all your videos, and you do really nice work.
    thanks for taking the time to make them and uploading them all.

    Your videos leave no stone unturned. This one is no exception. Another great video. I needed a grippier kind of push stick to use on mt stationary belt sander. I found that adding some rubber from a bicycle inner tube to the end of a push stick worked better than a hand full of right thumbs to hold a small part in place while sanding it flat on the belt sander.

    One neat improvement to the zero clearance insert: drill holes all the way through the wood and use hex set screws as the elevation screws, that way you can adjust the height of the insert from the top while it is in place.
    Thanks for all the great videos!

    These were great tips. First time I used a store bought table saw I had borrowed it from a friend who had not set it up correctly, and not thinking about checking because said friend worked in construction so I figured it was good to go- I was dead wrong. Kickback hurts like nothing else, had the nastiest bruise on my lower ribs for weeks, kept feeling like I might have broke something took about a month before I used another one again. Good news I learned real fast that bo matter who's table saw your going to use always check that it's set up correctly, which I did take the time to do for my friend.
