Ray The Flying Squirrel was designed and concepted in late 1991 as Sonic's New Sidekick. He was planned for Sonic The Hedgehog 2(Sega Sonic Arcade was developed BEFORE Sonic 2), but SEGA was looking for a Cute and likable character who could fly. Ray wasn't cute and couldn't fly, so SEGA of Japan REJECTED him.
He was replaced by Miles Tails Prower.

Ray existed before Tails in terms of development just like how Mighty existed before Sonic. Mighty and Ray are basically pre-Sonic and Tails. But they ended up being fully developed and made it into a Sonic canon anyway.

She's using MAME. There's like 7 million versions of it but what I use is the MAME 2014 core in Retroarch because that's the easiest to set up.
