I really don't blame you for emulating Chaotix even outside of the price, a fault in the hardware means that every single copy will eventually die just from use, making them very rare (and making the mere act of playing them a potential danger to said value)

The ending... as someone who has played sonic Battle... whoo boy. This is going to take a while. Incredibly hard mode with RNG rewards; plus the completely random super-rare ??? skills. Those that know; know. Sonic Battle will be worse than Shadow.
I don't really consider Shadow The Hedgehog a spinoff. It's got all the main gameplay quirks of a Sonic game, it's a direct sequel to Sonic Heroes, you collect rings and go through loopty-loops. it's a full on Sonic game just with Shadow as the protagonist.

Team Sonic Racing is probably the most frustrated I’ve ever been trying to 100% a Sonic game, mainly because of some of the key missions, with these two being my most hated: 1. 6-6: “Finish a Survival Race without losing a team member, Perform a Team Ultimate at least 2 times” 2. 7-10 “Perform at least 5 successful Team Rival take-downs, Finish the race holding at least 75 rings”
I don't know why the handheld games are even considered spinoffs. The handheld platformers should be seen as just as main series as the console platformers.

Crazy how cheap and plentiful Sega 32X consoles used to be, back in the day stores wouldn't even take those things for free and you'd find them dirt cheap at flea markets, now they've actually gone up in value to the point where they are worth more then their release date price(150 bucks).
100% completion is a lot more fun when youre a kid without many games, adds a lot of value. When you have access to tons of games though…. Eh. Like i played ratchet and clank/gran turismo4/5 and pokemon emerald so much cause i lacked games and never got bored
I don't consider Sonic 4 to be a spinoff as it's a sequel to the main classic genesis trilogy. I would say Drift and Rivals are, though, since they're about racing, but they're not very accessible. I think Shuffle had great ideas that Secret Rings has improved in its party mode, and even Rise of Lyric had a party mode which is quite fun. I would say try the other Boom games, especially Fire and Ice, since Shattered Crystal has annoying backtracking, but Rise of Lyric is my favourite. There's also Sonic Chronicles which had potential and should have got a sequel, though there was Sega Heroes on mobile. And there's some other obscure ones like Speed Simulator which has Extreme Gear if you want more of it. I really enjoy Free Riders as I never personally minded the controls. And out of all of these, Riders is the best spinoff series as they capture the spirit of Sonic really well. The rest are not as unique and just worse ripoff of what other franchises have, particularly Mario, which is a shame.

Be prepared to feel *miserable* with Advance 2, Battle, and Rush Adventure. 100%'ing these guys is a nightmare (Rush Adventure to a lesser extent, since you're not doing it under a timer, so you have plenty time to retry its VERY STRICT time limit missions)
I think it can be pretty fun! I'd like to play it with others eventually via netplay. The thing with the mini events is that while some scenarios only count as one event others count as multiple but you have to select all of the outcomes when you encounter them again.

Sigh. Shadow the Hedgehog is not a spin-off. Direct sequel to Heroes that advances the story, console game of (for the time) AAA standards, one of Sonic Team's largest marketing campaigns, gameplay of a mainline title, 3D platformer, there is literally no reason whatsoever to say it's not mainline. Shadow being the protagonist ≠ not mainline. And I can't believe this even has to be explained, Sonic 4 is mainline as well. It's LITERALLY a numerical release, it says it right there on the title. Reception doesn't change reality, because people hate it doesn't mean it's suddenly not mainline. Development doesn't change reality, because it was developed as a mobile spin-off named Sonic Portable doesn't mean that's what happened, what happened is that late in development the project shifted, turned into Sonic 4 and became mainline.
When I say the "spinoffs" I'm talking about things that were used to hold over fans until the next big game comes out. I don't see people going to the aid of Knuckles chaotix when at the time it had similar gameplay as the classic series down to the McGuffin collecting except you're just tethered to someone. Sonic 4 may be numbered, but at this point it's been retconned to the point of obscurity. You got Metal Sonic getting revived on little planet AFTER his defeat in CD while they used the modern designs for every character. Despite the fact that he ALSO returns in Sonic Mania with everyone using their classic designs. With it being confirmed by Izuka himself that Mania takes place after S3&K with superstars happening right after and superstars is confirmed to be RIGHT BEFORE Sonic adventure, AND THEN you have him contained in a tube in Eggman's base in SA1 with short and stubby dreamcast Sonic. So how did he end up on little planet again to be revived by Eggman? How did we go from classic sonic, to modern sonic, and BACK to classic sonic designs? Forgive me if I can't take Sonic 4 seriously. Besides I'm covering all the games anyway I've gone through almost every console game. It's all there dawg. These will all be in a big compilation one day anyway so everyone can be happy lol.

Knuckles' Chaotix does not have similar gameplay to the Classics and came out for an optional add-on of another system (the 32X for the Genesis). The story of nature vs machine that enhanced the Classic games is present but the Sonic storyline (of the cast of characters as a whole) doesn't go forward in the same way it does in S1, CD, S2, S3&K, Mania and Superstars. Knuckles' Chaotix is more akin to the pacing and the story tie-in approach of the Rush duology and the Advance trilogy, it is here to introduce a few characters and some lore, be completely isolated and call it a day. Returning to the add-on, 32X is technically a hardware accessory, not much different to the Kinect or the PS Eye, Knuckles' Chaotix is as much mainline as Sonic Free Riders, that being not at all. So the whole Knuckles' Chaotix argument doesn't work. Sonic 4 has not been retconned, that is just nonsense. I won't linger on this too much since I find it incredibly silly, I'll just drop the fact that it's been referenced twice in the officially canon IDW comics set after Sonic Forces and there is a whole storyline in IDW taking place in White Park Zone from Sonic 4 Episode II. You not liking a game or it not getting continuously acknowledged doesn't render it retconned. And my point was never that you didn't cover them all, it's cool that you did. My point was that both Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 4 are mainline because that's simply the reality of the situation. Your reply felt a bit passive-agggesive and I recognize mine might have as well. My intention isn't to fight, especially since I found the video a fun watch, it's to properly shine some light into matters. Calling them spin-offs is misinformation, cause they aren't.

Be prepared to feel *miserable* with Advance 2, Battle, and Rush Adventure. 100%'ing these guys is a nightmare (Rush Adventure to a lesser extent, since you're not doing it under a timer, so you have plenty time to retry its VERY STRICT time limit missions)

Shout out to you, i am one of the very few people that like sonic shuffle but i have NEVER been able to get all the mini events😢
I think it can be pretty fun! I'd like to play it with others eventually via netplay. The thing with the mini events is that while some scenarios only count as one event others count as multiple but you have to select all of the outcomes when you encounter them again.
When shadow the hedgehog came up I was getting ready to dunk on you in the comments for not getting all 326 routes and then... You actually did them?.. like, Damn.. ok.

Sigh. Shadow the Hedgehog is not a spin-off. Direct sequel to Heroes that advances the story, console game of (for the time) AAA standards, one of Sonic Team's largest marketing campaigns, gameplay of a mainline title, 3D platformer, there is literally no reason whatsoever to say it's not mainline. Shadow being the protagonist ≠ not mainline.
And I can't believe this even has to be explained, Sonic 4 is mainline as well. It's LITERALLY a numerical release, it says it right there on the title. Reception doesn't change reality, because people hate it doesn't mean it's suddenly not mainline. Development doesn't change reality, because it was developed as a mobile spin-off named Sonic Portable doesn't mean that's what happened, what happened is that late in development the project shifted, turned into Sonic 4 and became mainline.
When I say the "spinoffs" I'm talking about things that were used to hold over fans until the next big game comes out. I don't see people going to the aid of Knuckles chaotix when at the time it had similar gameplay as the classic series down to the McGuffin collecting except you're just tethered to someone. Sonic 4 may be numbered, but at this point it's been retconned to the point of obscurity. You got Metal Sonic getting revived on little planet AFTER his defeat in CD while they used the modern designs for every character. Despite the fact that he ALSO returns in Sonic Mania with everyone using their classic designs. With it being confirmed by Izuka himself that Mania takes place after S3&K with superstars happening right after and superstars is confirmed to be RIGHT BEFORE Sonic adventure, AND THEN you have him contained in a tube in Eggman's base in SA1 with short and stubby dreamcast Sonic. So how did he end up on little planet again to be revived by Eggman? How did we go from classic sonic, to modern sonic, and BACK to classic sonic designs? Forgive me if I can't take Sonic 4 seriously. Besides I'm covering all the games anyway I've gone through almost every console game. It's all there dawg. These will all be in a big compilation one day anyway so everyone can be happy lol.
@@LuxeCrux I've been TLDRed a lot lately, I request a fair read if you may, this isn't a hate comment. Knuckles' Chaotix does not have similar gameplay to the Classics and came out for an optional add-on of another system (the 32X for the Genesis). The story of nature vs machine that enhanced the Classic games is present but the Sonic storyline (of the cast of characters as a whole) doesn't go forward in the same way it does in S1, CD, S2, S3&K, Mania and Superstars. Knuckles' Chaotix is more akin to the pacing and the story tie-in approach of the Rush duology and the Advance trilogy, it is here to introduce a few characters and some lore, be completely isolated and call it a day. Returning to the add-on, 32X is technically a hardware accessory, not much different to the Kinect or the PS Eye, Knuckles' Chaotix is as much mainline as Sonic Free Riders, that being not at all. So the whole Knuckles' Chaotix argument doesn't work.
Sonic 4 has not been retconned, that is just nonsense. I won't linger on this too much since I find it incredibly silly, I'll just drop the fact that it's been referenced twice in the officially canon IDW comics set after Sonic Forces and there is a whole storyline in IDW taking place in White Park Zone from Sonic 4 Episode II. You not liking a game or it not getting continuously acknowledged doesn't render it retconned.
And my point was never that you didn't cover them all, it's cool that you did. My point was that both Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 4 are mainline because that's simply the reality of the situation. Your reply felt a bit passive-agggesive and I recognize mine might have as well. My intention isn't to fight, especially since I found the video a fun watch, it's to properly shine some light into matters. Calling them spin-offs is misinformation, cause they aren't.

I feel like team sonic racing really needs to become free to play and to receive more patches to fix bugs and introduce quality of life additions to make it a smoother experience and then the online wont be dead.
