I feel that Laura joining the explorations has added a really great dynamic to the channel. I really enjoy her commentary and camera work in addition to Gly's. I really appreciate the Safety First attitude based on both your experiences.
Laura, you are fearless! especially near the disgusting Pond in the flooded winze. So glad to see you both made sensible safety decisions. Love you two xx
Great video - we love the editing technique and Laura's addition to the channel, as it enables you to cover more ground at mine sites and we really enjoy the new camera angles! Very impressive work, Gly and Laura!
I paused the video and became a member right away! I look forward to your videos every week. It is one of the only things I watch on a regular basis. Thanks for keeping it affordable! I am more than happy to support what you do for us to enjoy!
Greetings to yourself and Laura, what a plucky lady! I am in the UK and have been a membEr from the start of the channel. I have sent you a few of our British pounds to help a bit I am 80 years old and don’t have much cash, but I am a happy chap and love your videos, thank you both. It’s so nice to see that you have found a companion Gly.
32:55 ?A 3 cylinder water pump? Note outlet pipe, drum for a flat belt drive. Gearing is a step-down type (trades belt speed for power). They would not put an air compressor down a hole, but they would put a water pump as they don't lift very well, but they push stronger. They had water problems back then also.
Awsome…2 seperate video creators on the same channel. Laura is doing an amazing job and you make a great team. We look forward to every new video even more now. That mine must have gone a lot deeper to at one time. If you look carefully when Laura videoed the back of the pump there is a pipe disappearing into the rock waste below. It would have been interesting to see where they had the engine mounted in the day and the belt runs they used to get to the pump.
Yes, we figured the pump (we thought it was a winch) may have drained the winze or went all the way down to the lower drift which we could not access because it was flooded.
Gly, ha, wish I'd known you were in the area, a friend of mine and I just explore this same mine! Such a beautiful area! You got a lot closer to that winch than I dared to get, ha, glad you were safe! Take care, and safe travels.
Your channel is my Saturday morning comfort zone time. And frankly, I don’t care if you huff or puff, I’m just happy you’re up and walking and fine and I don’t care if you huff, puff, grunt, or snort…. keep your videos coming and don’t pay any attention to those who criticize. You BOTH are GREAT!!
Lots to unpack here. First, like the uniforms. Need logos on those shirts. The split team work at the beginning was awesome. Laura can for sure stand on her own and splitting the workload makes it easier on you, too. That was a very cool and dangerous looking little mine. So glad you have the experience to know when to stop and retreat. I have never joined a channel...until now. I am on a fixed income and appreciate the low cost. I've been with you a long time so I want to support you as best I can. Let's Go!
I'm a disabled vet on fixed income but would be happy to donate what I can, I really enjoy your vids Gly & Laura. You have come a long way with polishing your videos for our ultimate enjoyment (music + the drone shots being my favorite to set the mood) I miss being a Mohave desert rat and exploring Nature with my dog (RIP) I can enjoy those times again with YOU. Good stuff, keep going. 😉
I grew up in Tehachapi, and explored all around Mojave. Also a vet (US Army 85-88, USMC 91-94), last stationed at 29 Palms. Loved the desert and the Sierra Nevada’s also!
What a fantastic explore, learned a lot about bad air mines n really enjoyed the editing. Great idea to intersperse you rseparate explores. Really like this one. And that cabin! I'd like to move into the fixer-upper as my summer cabin. Fell in love with the view and the solitude!
Looking forward to seeing more .I will join next month. Maybe in the future you guys and make t shirts .. coffee mugs .. heck even stickers . Have a great Sunday
Great job that you and Laura are doing. I always wanted to explore mines, but I got too old to quickly, so now I enjoy through your channel. I am also on a fixed income but will support you both in anyway I can. Really appreciate you!!
When you thought you found a nugget of gold, I thought bob was in for a new set of tires. Too bad it wasn't a big ol chunk of goodness. Thanks for the video. Stay safe and I'll catch you on the next one.😊
Before you had concluded your pitch, I hit the join button. Been watching this channel for a very long time. Had tossed some money at Old Bob when he needed some love. Now a few words on some things I'd like to see. I'm heavy into the mechanics of the mines. Of course, any markings on that pump to identify it would be nice. I love machinery. That was some heavy rail to be carted all the way up there. If you could measure the height of the rail, it would help identify it. Rail is most often sized as its weight per yard. The height of the rail or the width across the bottom allows one to refer to tables to get the weight. Also, rolling marks on the web can identify mill and year. As I commented a few episodes ago, saw marks on the lumber/timbers can help identify its origin. Circle saw cut lumber, of course, has circular saw marks on it. Vertical lines indicate a bandmill or sashgang saw. Casting marks on malleable iron washers used to hold it all together are great info also. You do a great job with newspapers and Prince Albert cans. Wood and iron tell me a lot and any attention to these things are vastly appreciated. Thanks, dave
Loved the tag-team explore. Laura is doing a great job and Gly way to go at 8K feet - I'm outta breath just watching you 😅. Keep up the good work you two!!!
Those miners must have been out there for years. Just getting there and walking around is difficult. Could you imagine moving a bucket full of rocks, just for 20 cents. Today people couldn't put their phone down long enough to do all this work.
I'm really loving the team work. Great idea to split up at the beginning to scope out the area. And nobody is going accuse you of getting greedy with the minimalist membership fee. Take care!
It's not just TH-cam and your genre, it's all platforms and genres. We are all in the same boat. Love your stuff Gly, loyal watcher on my husband's account. Say Hi to Laura I love her glasses.
Really enjoyed the his and hers shots in this one and the back n forth on the radio. Visually extremely interesting location and mine, wonder what other cool things are under that water! Don’t know what is going on with YT these days, everyone we know with a channel is suffering with views and revenue being cut in half for the most part. Have been debating on memberships for a while now may be something to consider soon! Thanks for the great explore!
I've watched 👀 this episode twice already. Once in natural TV image mode and once in dynamic image mode. It appears totally different in those different image versions. In natural mode, it looks great and I was able to fine tune that version slightly to seem colourful and with great natural light falling onto the scenes. In dynamic mode, I had to do a big change to that image cause it was set too dark and too intense. After 20 minutes of fine tuning your images, the colours really became rich and vibrant. The natural light seemed as if I was actually there. It was so real, I've gone silent. So it was 2 great viewing experiences for me. Thanks you 2!! The 4K really helped in making it seems like I was really there. Your new show is going great and my TV adjusting skills have reached a skill level where I can get the most out of watching your show. It's well worth paying for these days! My Panasonic TV 📺 is capable of reproducing your show very accurately. If people don't see why they should pay something towards the show it's probably because they don't have a great TV or they've never thought to adjust it or try out all its features. Great Job!!
27:50 hey guys, I’ve been watching your channel for years now, you are a great content creator. You can tell you put your heart and sole into your work. I am watching this video now when you found that material you didn’t recognize made be wonder if you have a radiation detector? You never know what someone could dump in an old mine. Just a thought. Keep up the great work.
That looks like a water pump. You see larger versions of that design are are still in use in shallow oil fields in Texas. These pumps are over 100 years old.
Gly! I don't know what's going on. I've been a subscriber since the very beginning, I honestly thought your channel was gone. In the last year not one of your videos popped up and now i see ove missed like 30! Ive seen other channels complaining about similar issues. Glad to see you are well and active. Now how on earth do i watch 30 videos 😅 talk about binge lol
1st channel I have ever became a paid member of. Love your content and been here since the first episode. Gly and Laura, thank you for the amazing explorations, history and footage!

Awesome cabin and area . Glad you have the experience to know when a mine is bad . Glad you both are safe and sound. See you Wednesday ! Be careful out there.
Glorious Aerial footage, just love it. Great Vista. This mine is full of water. This other adit work of old. the small adits lead to nowhere, caution was taken.

Hello Gly and your new explorer ? Laura great find that has a flat belt looks more like a pump tring to figure what it might be and look into comment this is a great explore take care⛏️🤔
Gly/Laura, I saw blue deposits on the walls there, is it a copper mine? If so, those white/grey piles could be arsenic, we get that a lot here in UK copper mines, I don't know much about the geology in Nevada but if it is arsenic, it's not nice!
Gly, Laura, I know you don't do any of your mine videos live, but maybe you could doa live Q & A. every so often. I have noticed a lot of fans seem to donate more often when a channel does a live show, maybe that's something to think about.Just put my cut straight in the bank lol.;-)
Gly & Laura I think the membership thing is a great idea. But, with TH-cam taking 30% I would still look into Patreon. I don't know much about it so I don't know if it cost you a monthly membership or not. But from what I hear you get all if not more than from TH-cam. Personally I would rather give you two more and TH-cam less. Just saying. Also I think it would be worth mentioning clicking or smashing the like button. As I am typing this 11:46 pdt this video had 3622 views but only 842 likes, barely 1/4. I think that might help the TH-cam algorithm.
Yes, we changed it up for a bit with this mine. Let Gly document down below and me up top. I told him I'd scramble up there to see if it was worth it and then I'd call him to join me 😊.
I didn’t see the membership join button. EDITED: Never mind. Found the join in the video description. Because I’m an idiot and I didn’t listen to the words coming out Gly’s mouth. “Check in the description below.”
Definitely now paying for another membership as I already pay TH-cam. I would be more than happy to make a small donation though if that was an option.
tip jar in the description or purchase stuff they sell on fleabay.. and i feel ya, they keep jacking the price up on premium and basically forced me to cancel a bunch of my channel subscriptions and just support them other ways that's not giving google more money then i already give them.
I feel that Laura joining the explorations has added a really great dynamic to the channel. I really enjoy her commentary and camera work in addition to Gly's.
