She described her character so well! When I saw her I also thought she was strict and intimating but when you watch the film, you find out that she's just exhausted and sad that her only son is paralyzed and wants to die. She did very well!
A great actress.. undeniably talented..
When reading the book, even before I knew about the movie, my mind went right to Janet McTeer. This movie had great casting and this was the best.
but she's much more horrible in the book!
6OceanSoul9 I wouldn't say she's horrible, more shielded and reserved with an icy demeanor - mostly brought on from abandonment from her family (her husband's affairs, her daughter living elsewhere and her son wanting to die). I pictured a buttoned up, sturdy, old world Englishwoman and I thought Janet McTeer would do a great job.
Freya Stuart oh yes, the actress is perfect, I just think they didn't give her the space she deserved
6OceanSoul9 The character wasn't expanded on as well in the film, but I more or less expected it as there was less time to do so. It's one of the natural sacrifices of film adaptations, still disappointed though.
Freya Stuart I'm a bit disappointed because the movie is really short, they certantly had time to show more detailes about Lou's past, Camilla's character, ecc ecc
Janet McTeer has a flair for playing Scary mums, she was great in Jessica Jones S2 as well!
I thought it was brilliant casting Janet McTeer and Charles Dance together as the Mum and Dad - I would love to see them act together again in some project.
