I just bought the flash tool as a rental. The setup is similar as far as the downloads go but a bit different from this year old video. I downloaded it to my pc along with all updates necessary. I’ll install tonight on the bike wish me luck. Thanks VA
I purchased the Hertz stage 4. Just completed the flash on my 2016 Street Glide. Only issue was how my connection was a little stiff coming out of the fuse box cover. Great video I will comment on all the install videos as I install my system. Only one I am nervous about is cutting my saddle bag lids.
I work for a shop and we have the Techno Research hardware already. My employer asked me to familiarize myself with how to use it and what we can do with it. The how to use it was perfectly covered in this video. Thank you. My only remaining question at this point pertains to bikes with the boom systems or other factory amp add ons. This device is ONLY for the radio itself correct? On those bikes my thought would be (if the customer isn't happy with the "premium sound") 1... flash the radio, 2... remove the "factory" amp, 3... replace with aftermarket amps and speakers. This seems to be the best way in my opinion to deal with the cross over points in the amps and get a full range signal to work with. Am I on the right track in your opinion or am I over thinking things?
I NEED this.. I assume my 2018 road glide special wasn't flashed, cause it doesn't sound that good. Granted it only has rockfords in the fairing, and a soundigital amp. Unless of course it was flashed already, and just sounds bad.
Nicely informative video, I didn't quite get the answers I was looking for. I have a KAC-M3004 4 channel amp, and it will turn on with line input or remote 12v. Would a flash be recommended for this amp on stock harley gts. Thanks
Great info Jay! Would you use that same flash (6 speaker/2 amp) if you were just doing the 2 fairing speakers and an amp? It gets a bit confusing but I think that's what you recommended.

I got the PPI amp and Hertz neo 6.5 and it sounds good nice and clear and loud I also added the boss kit for rear bags 2021 sg will be putting Hertz 6x9 later when the boss ones blow out also did a flash on the gts stereo
I just ordered a stage 4 hertz with the sp4.900 and soundskins fairing kit for my 2019 streetglide on 6/8/23 I have not started the install...waiting for my off days with much anxiety lol...My question is I mostly use android auto,so should I still do the apple carplay play flash just in case and will it affect android auto in anyway? I use a ottocast for wireless android auto. Also appreciate your videos and the work you put into your kits.
Thank you, the CarPlay flash has no effect on android auto, we have had many issues with the ottocast adapter, if you have issues with it then plug in using a quality cable, if it works well keep using it

The Rockford flash is a non amped factory flash , it has the bass boost and eq changes still in effect and has a lot of distortion that will blow speakers, I do not suggest using the Rockford flash, also known as the stock 4 speaker no amp flash

American Hard Bag exclusively recommends the Rockford flash and Logan says it does not change the EQ (engine on/off) and also that it came from Rockford and not just a "copy" of the 4-speaker no amp stock Harley flash. So it's really confusing hearing these conflicting stories. Either way, I appreciate your insights and will likely stick with the 6-speaker 2 amp flash.
Does your 134_Off.bin Volunteer Flash have the ability to fade also? My 135_Off.bin sounds WAY better when the bike is not running and I have no fade. If not is there a Kicker Flash with 6 or 4 speakers have the Fader?

I have a tri glide also I would like to see the rest of this build and how it goes I want to put speakers in places where speakers should be and also some sort of enclosure in the back or some type of application where bass can be inserted because the tri glide has a trunk
Great video very informative. Ive been down this audio rabbit hole all day. You say in the video part of the reason you’ve choose the default setting is because it turns on the rear speakers. So if i don’t want the lower speakers which i assume is in the leg faring. Can i use the 6 Speakers - Upper Fairing / Saddle Bags / Rear Pods / 2 AMPS and get the same eq curve or if i was to do the rockford flash will that enable all my speakers and have the flat curve you speak of? With these being factory flashes will my local dealer be able to do this? TIA
Every flash is a default flash, some are renamed brand names like Rockford but all are a factory Harley amped or non amped flash, I shared the only correct flash and explained why we use it in the video. This is the best flash for upgrading your factory system by adding an amplifier and speakers, and no the local dealer cannot flash to a factory amplified flash unless you have factory amps installed and connected to the ecm data lines
While trying to flash with the one you recommended , no sound from the speakers. I have the wild boar audio amps and speakers. So I used the wild boar option and they work …🤷🏻♂️

I have a 2016 Ultra limited. The Stereo crashed while under warrenty and was replaced. Im going on a ride with my wife and friends. The Headset doenst work and the CB wont come on unless someone else keys in on a different CB. Apparently there is a option that needs to be set to internal. Will your programmer work to fix this issue???
I have a 21 SGS I bought new and the 1st thing I did was put in different speakers and a little amp, I went with Hogtunes REV225 Amp and 462F because it was plug and play no flash required, sorry I didnt even know of you guys at the time! It's way better than the stock garbage anyway. Would purchase this and doing this flash improve it even more? Thank you.
The hog tunes amp uses a high pass filter in the amp to try and compensate for the no flash, but they also don’t have enough output after flash to sound right

Does this work with other installs or only with kits you sell? I currently have yellow basket Gz on the way and currently use Alpine R2-s65 speakers connected to kenwood xr401-4 and LC7i converter. What benefits would this flash do and what setting should I choose?
We recommend this flash when installing any aftermarket amplifier, it does the following This flash makes 4 needed changes 1. Activate rear speakers in stock radio 2. Removes the factory bass boost and flattens the Eq 3. The EQ no longer changes when engine is running 4. Lowers factory radio output voltage to a cleaner more useable input signal for most amplifiers

Looks like you only internet connection to down load the App.. But will you need internet connection when connected to the bike to make the changes..that can make a big difference as many don't have internet where the bikes are garaged? Seems well detailed otherwise
Any time a license code is involved an internet connection is needed to verify the code and the vin number of the bike being flashed, we use a laptop to show what is needed and we always say a pc computer with internet connection. At no time do I say “only needs internet to download software” we make videos to try and not have assumptions to the process. Thank you for watching

I just flashed per instructions 5:00 my 21 RG with rockford 6 speakers and amp.CarPlay appeared but sound disappeared , reflashed multiple time with same results.
If you have the hd audio by Rockford you should not change the flash, this video is for installation of aftermarket amplifiers only. If you are using aftermarket Rockford your amp turn on wire was probably not connected and signal sense auto turn on will not work after flash
@@steverolph8330 you flash boom 2 when replacing the amplifiers, you can not flash back to boom stage 2 using techno research but you can flash as outlined in our videos
I have two GZ front speakers and the Sounddigital 800.4 amp. which flash should I use for this? In default the 1 Amp 2 Speaker, the Rockford Fosgate or the Soundz? It's important to me that not too much bass is lost.

If you flash radio for CarPlay and don’t have a whim then decide later to add the whim will it work with the original radio flash you get with your tool or do you have to reflash a second time?

good morning Jay. i am not sure i am understanding this. a few days ago in your "why you need to flash" video, i had asked about a flash to get rid of my biketronics BT-35. you had indicated that i needed the boom 2 amp setting, but now you indicate that they can't do that without the boom amp? about the 6:05 mark. you indicate that the dealer cannot do this without the amp installed. so is there a setting they can do? i may have just misunderstood the information
So my question is, actually, 2 parts 1. Do you have to reflash if you flash for 1 amp and 2 speakers and later decide to add 2 more speakers? 2. What is the cost to rent the module?
We recommend the flash in the video for any number of speakers, the radio does not care how many speakers or amps you have, this setting just makes the radio have its best signal for an aftermarket amp. Pricing for rental is on our website at www.VolunteerAudio.com
Apple CarPlay requires a gts radio, once the whim is flashed on you simply plug your apple phone into the factory usb using a quality charge / sync cable and CarPlay will automatically launch on the radio
This flash has the strongest output, the soundz flash is the 8 speaker 2 amp boom flash which does all the same things but radio output is less than we like
Quick question I have a 2023 Ultra Limited and have the WHIM installed, will this flash the need for me to connect a wireless headset so that I can get WAZE and Spotify to work without wireless headset
@@volunteeraudio cool, but if I then plug in a wireless headset the WHIM will still do its job and allow me to use voice commands for carplay and hear calls via the headset
I was having an issue with Apple Play not working after I flashed my radio. I called Tachno Research and the technician tried to get it to work but couldn’t. He said the software might need updating. Have you ever had this issue?
@@macmcmickle8558 Sorry for the late reply. My brother 2020 street glide had Carplay issues until I updated the software on his GTS. I flashed his bike exactly how Jay did in this video. Now he has Carplay.
After flash you cannot fade, display will show fader but it will not actually move the sound, we gain the rear up slightly when we set the amp for correct sound and no need to fade
I cannot clear the following codes after using your recommended flash: U0186c - Lost comm w/AMP 2 AMP COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTICS U0186c - Lost comm w/AMP 1 AMP COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSTICS I clear them, then it keeps coming back! I flashed the radio using your rental tool and the recommended flash. Installed the Hertz amp 4.900 ( With plug-n-play harness ) I purchased from you for GTS head unit. How do I clear these codes that keeps coming back? Amp is on, everything sounds great! Just cannot clear these codes
No need to clear these codes, you got these when running radio diagnostics, no light was illuminated on your dash. If you properly flashed the radio you used a factory amplified flash that would have used factory amplifiers. These codes just say the radio does not detect the stock amplifiers. It will always say this because you are using a non factory amplifier.

HI, I just bought a used 2014, its got a stage 2 upgrade, boom audio, 8 speakers. I've got 1 channel out on the amp on the front and on the back. (i took to the dealer for them to finally tell me its the amps). I noticed in the very big red letters there, DO NOT FLASH BOOM. I've got the 8 speaker boom. Would this work? (let alone the 6 speaker setting vs the 8 speaker setting)? any help would be great before i purchase new amps. The bike has 1 blown speaker. And I do notice the low mids are super punchy, I turned mu bass down. I'm optimistic the flash flattening out the bass will help if it can work on my 8 speaker boom.
These directions that we have in the video are for replacing factory amplifiers with aftermarket amplifiers, when using factory amplifiers you must use the correct factory flash for your exact scenario
There is a risk that your radio will get damaged in shipping, and it will not be less money once you calculate shipping costs with insurance to cover that risk

Hi, What about 2019 CVO SG? It has a WHIM, 6 Speakers and boom audio stage II, but on the software it says “Do not flash boom audio stage II…” in bold red
If you flash to boom 1 you won’t be able to flash back to boom 2, that is why it is red, if you flash the whim on again with software apple CarPlay will work without the need of a headset connected
I have a 2019 Ultra Limited with J&M Rokker 800W 4 speaker system. If bike is off, system seems extremely load and clear. At 70-80 MPH music can barely be heard at max volume. Will a flash fix this issue?
There are many factors, a flash may help but we remove the J&m rocker system quite often due to the same complaints, they exaggerate the power of the amp, we have much better, louder options at Volunteer Audio

Same flash will be used no matter which system they had stock, and yes you will remove the stock amp and upgrade if you are flashing the radio

You always flash the radio if using an aftermarket amp for best results, then use the remote 12volt turn on

I would suggest an upgraded amplifier, the 400.4 is underpowered and high distortion compared to most amps we use

Wild boar is hogtunes, it is designed for the non factory amp flash, any other flash and the auto turn on will not work on the hogtunes amp

Hi fantastic video, does it flash a sound stream amp with kicker 3 way speakers?
The flash fixes the radio for any aftermarket amplifier, you then must properly set your amp gains and high pass filters for your speakers

Boom 2 only works with the boom 2 flash, if you change it your amps stop working

Flashing is only when adding an amplifier
After you flash the radio, will the speaker outputs be at a low enough level that you can use it for RCA inputs instead of the high inputs on the amp?

Yes the flash fixes the radios output, it has nothing to do with how many speakers you are actually using

Those 2 flashes are the closest to each other, both have similar radio voltage and same flat eq

I just flashed per instructions 5:00 my 21 RG with rockford 6 speakers and amp.CarPlay appeared but sound disappeared , reflashed multiple time with same results.
If you have the hd audio by Rockford you should not change the flash, this video is for installation of aftermarket amplifiers only. If you are using aftermarket Rockford your amp turn on wire was probably not connected and signal sense auto turn on will not work after flash

Either works but we just flash before or after we have finished a new amp installation

@@steverolph8330 you flash boom 2 when replacing the amplifiers, you can not flash back to boom stage 2 using techno research but you can flash as outlined in our videos

I have two GZ front speakers and the Sounddigital 800.4 amp. which flash should I use for this? In default the 1 Amp 2 Speaker, the Rockford Fosgate or the Soundz? It's important to me that not too much bass is lost.

hi jay i have a 2017 street glide cvo i swapped the radio for the boom box gts my technoresearch computer can't configure the amps. Specifically, 4 Stage II speakers (Fairing Upper & Saddlebags) with 2 amplifiers.

good morning Jay. i am not sure i am understanding this. a few days ago in your "why you need to flash" video, i had asked about a flash to get rid of my biketronics BT-35. you had indicated that i needed the boom 2 amp setting, but now you indicate that they can't do that without the boom amp? about the 6:05 mark. you indicate that the dealer cannot do this without the amp installed. so is there a setting they can do? i may have just misunderstood the information

Apple CarPlay requires a gts radio, once the whim is flashed on you simply plug your apple phone into the factory usb using a quality charge / sync cable and CarPlay will automatically launch on the radio

This flash has the strongest output, the soundz flash is the 8 speaker 2 amp boom flash which does all the same things but radio output is less than we like

If you turn the whim on inside the techno research flash tool you no longer need a headset paired for CarPlay to work

I was having an issue with Apple Play not working after I flashed my radio. I called Tachno Research and the technician tried to get it to work but couldn’t. He said the software might need updating. Have you ever had this issue?

Do you lose your fade front to back with this flash? I have no fade after the flash????
Also just bought the polarity tool because something seems off. Beautiful sound but no bass.
After flash you cannot fade, display will show fader but it will not actually move the sound, we gain the rear up slightly when we set the amp for correct sound and no need to fade

No need to clear these codes, you got these when running radio diagnostics, no light was illuminated on your dash. If you properly flashed the radio you used a factory amplified flash that would have used factory amplifiers. These codes just say the radio does not detect the stock amplifiers. It will always say this because you are using a non factory amplifier.
I installed a wild boar kit and listened to it already so now how do I flash it?
The wild boar kit will not turn on if you flash it, it only works with stock no amp flash

HI, I just bought a used 2014, its got a stage 2 upgrade, boom audio, 8 speakers. I've got 1 channel out on the amp on the front and on the back. (i took to the dealer for them to finally tell me its the amps). I noticed in the very big red letters there, DO NOT FLASH BOOM. I've got the 8 speaker boom. Would this work? (let alone the 6 speaker setting vs the 8 speaker setting)? any help would be great before i purchase new amps. The bike has 1 blown speaker. And I do notice the low mids are super punchy, I turned mu bass down. I'm optimistic the flash flattening out the bass will help if it can work on my 8 speaker boom.
These directions that we have in the video are for replacing factory amplifiers with aftermarket amplifiers, when using factory amplifiers you must use the correct factory flash for your exact scenario

Hi, What about 2019 CVO SG? It has a WHIM, 6 Speakers and boom audio stage II, but on the software it says “Do not flash boom audio stage II…” in bold red
If you flash to boom 1 you won’t be able to flash back to boom 2, that is why it is red, if you flash the whim on again with software apple CarPlay will work without the need of a headset connected
I have a 2019 Ultra Limited with J&M Rokker 800W 4 speaker system. If bike is off, system seems extremely load and clear. At 70-80 MPH music can barely be heard at max volume. Will a flash fix this issue?
There are many factors, a flash may help but we remove the J&m rocker system quite often due to the same complaints, they exaggerate the power of the amp, we have much better, louder options at Volunteer Audio
