That is so deep! The first 2:30 of the vid basically described me. I've read so much of the Word, I can quote scripture but I rarely have the power of the seed in my heart. Ugh! I won't let this happen again!

@mozdickson Gentlemen, this parable is found in all three of the synoptic gospels. In Mark 4:1-20, Matthew 13:1-23, and Luke 8:1-15. If you take a look at Marks account of the parable i think you will find what Bill was talking about. In Mark 4:13 the work "understand" here is the word: eidō meaning- 1) to see a) to perceive with the eyes b) to perceive by any of the senses c) to perceive, notice, discern, discover d) to see There's more. It just wouldn't fit. Hope that helps.
I understood the parable that way too for many years. I was later taught that the dividing line in this parable between saved and unsaved is not after the first three, but after the first two. More clearly, the growing plant strangled by weeds and thorns, the cares of this world, is still saved, but bears no fruit. I am not sure. I meditate on this parable A LOT. I have come to a place where I don't want to be that third seed, and ask the Lord to help me stay in His love, to reject the cares of this world, in order that I might bear fruit for Him. @Nic Boyd if I can recall, the second Yeshua died and his pure blood hit the ground Satan was " not destroyed" but rather in every opertunity that evil could be present forgiveness and grace was bought forth so in every situation
The sermon is about salvation Bill not personal experience. If you understood the message of the Kingdom "Repent and be saved", in the context of Isaiah 6:8. Just read Luke 8:11b "the devil .......Takes away the word from their hearts so they will believe and be saved". It is not a text about a fresh revelation no matter how good it sounds e.g. Feed the poor. It is all about salvation Bill please stick to the text and stop reading your Dominion theory into everything.

I do not see the connection to understanding "through the 5 senses", although I do follow the idea that obeying the word and making it our experience is likely to make truth more than head knowledge. Only the one sowed on good ground lived and went on to produce fruit. All those who do not grow and produce fruit will be taken away from the true vine. John 15:4-6 Read the bible for yourself. Ask for discernment. There are many false prophets sent out into the world to deceive.
@6625steve, could you explain what you mean? because i think you're saying exactly what Bill's saying. That when God gives us a seed, that has the potential of giving fruit, we need to act on it or we loose it. Or do you mean that the parable says that the seed is Jesus? He has never commanded us to understand everything about Him for Him to come into our lives. He will come and teach us through the Holy Spirit. Bill is a very experienced and wise preacher, dont loose the blessing that easly!

Why does the bible need somebody to interpret it for others?, If the word of God is so clear we shouldn't need a preacher to tell us what it means, .. the truth is, you can read whatever you want to hear within the bible. 10 different preachers can easily give you 10 different interpretations of the same passage.

@MrJoelBeckett what reference tool are u using? because the one I'm using (public service announcement: it was one of the first to come up when I did a google search so it's probably not the best) brings up the word gnosesthe in reference to understanding. Also, in Mark 4:13 understand seems to apply to the disciples whereas in the Matthew version it was in regards to the parable...??

Hi Bonnie43uk Interpreting can be emotional, mood, spiritual, intellectual etc. Not all will be based on an ultimate truth. If there is no one truth then it does not matter and what you say can be true. Who can discern what is truth but a spirit of truth.
well then i would say you are probably seeing things in your imagination Franc, can you elaborate on these "persons from that realm"?, what form did they take?, did other people see the same apparition or whatever it was you saw?. I'm guessing you THINK you saw something supernatural, in your own head it was real, but in reality, it was not. Thats happened to me quite a lot aswell in my life.
Huh??? God wants US to defeat the enemy (satan and co)?? Didn't Jesus do that on the cross? Psalm 105 has nothing to do with US defeating the enemy! What Bill Johnson is doing is twisting the Holy Word of God so that it fits with his own teaching when what he should be doing is fitting his teaching to the Word of God! Ps 105 is about remembering how God defeated Egypt and brought Israel out of captivity - it is about glorifying God for HIS greatness.

This parable shows that WORKS of obedience are required for salvation and not just a one time faith experience as Paulinists claim.

The spirit of truth is the spirit of God. The Creator, Holy Spirit, Jesus, and anyone operating in that spirit.
