It is a stunning little camera. I have two and they have some of the best pictures you will ever see out of a camera. I use the Kondor Blue top handle with the SanDisk Problade SSDs to record to. The footage is so simple to work with in Resolve.
I’ve had one for a couple years. Image alone, phenomenal when exposed and processed properly in post. For pumping out tons of content like a workhorse, that’s where its weaknesses become pronounced. Compressing the RAW with slimraw in post is basically required to avoid exorbitant amounts of hard drive space so that’s a lengthy step you’ll have to do every time in post . Micro HDMI is annoying, no preview LUT’s, no tally light, SSD required for max quality recording, form factor makes it clunky to fully rig, cannot preview clips on a computer unless you open in an NLE since it records clips as folders of RAW images which makes transferring footage to others on set a real pain especially if they’re not tech savvy, 1080p max for any higher frame rates which looks notably soft and lower quality. In short: it’s a great hobby to medium use cam for light rigging and small jobs. If you’re doing pro stuff, it’ll get annoying fast.
Great cage! Thinking of trying the side plate and HDMI and USB-C cable locks first. I am using Small Rig's 2672 but it is old and the screws are coming loose and picking up sound and HDMI disconnects.
Excellent! I love it, and you even have the lvf-11 thumb screws, awesome! Another thing, the Smallrig 3227 cage has an EVF-11 attachment which provides protection for the evf-11. Have you considered designing your own version for this purpose? The reason I ask is: the evf-11 isn’t very secure the way it mounts to the fp. I know this would add more bulk to the overall size of everything, but I do like this feature with the Smallrig cage. Thanks!
Great design. I have 3 fp's, using dark laboratories left side 2242 ssd mounts, including one which works with evf....anyway to incorporate these add ons or at least the super handy ssd 2242 caddy which has a USB-c connector. If so I'd buy 3 of your cages
Continued....if without sideplate, the left side of camera is exactly flush with cage in front and back of initial cage when inserted I think you could mount dark labs ssd attachment to left side of FP....lmk, thanks!
I want to get a couple of these. I have a few other cages and never really liked any of them. Have two FP bodies that I use a ton and need a cage, this looks like the solution.
Would that cage be compatible with the Mofage POCO Vari-ND PL adapter? It requires a cage that does not protrude further than the L-Mount in front of the camera.
Lots of FP owners already have the original SmallRig cages, such as the 3211, for which there exist some 3D-printed add-on grips. Have you considered producing a wooden grip specifically for this unit - probably quite a big untapped market of people that might otherwise prefer not to change systems?
The smallrig cage you mentioned isn’t the original one, it’s also vastly inferior to what we have designed. Beyond that, it’s no longer available to buy new, so I don’t see any purpose in building parts for it when this system is much more complete and available to buy new. Thank you for the suggestion, though.
@@WillvonTagen Understood - I'm aware of a couple of other designs from SmallRig, however this is the one that Sigma approved and promoted on their website. Whilst I don't doubt the superiority of yours just based on what I've seen, it was a suggestion that might help gain some traction and exposure for your new business, purely based on the likely high proportion of existing users who might have this unit but might not be ready to switch. Nice to have some new FP-specific gear - good luck!
It is significantly better than any of those cages (nicerig doesn't even allow for external power). Beyond that, it is actually available to buy--unlike tilta or smallrig ;)
Hi! Please help me 🙏🏻 i bought bmcc 2.5k - it’s amazing! But for me and my plans it’s very heavyweight. I want to sell and buy bmpcc og. What do you think about it? Is full hd used now in 2024-2026?
amaizing price! danke Will :) Thank you so much for all the great content on the bmpcc, and cage, etc. I greatly aprecciate the hard work!
So glad I could help with a solution!
Good to see your cage will accommodate the viewfinder.
Of course!
Exсellent work, man.
Thank you very much!
Excellent! I've been eagerly anticipating your release of this cage.
They are on their way!
I just received your cage...and it's truly beautiful for a beautiful camera.
Great work, keep the interest alive!
This is fantastic, great work on this amazing cage!
A black durable comfortable rubber grip would be great too as well as the wooden grip
Just received mine, thank you for building this
Very well thought out.
BEAUTIFULLY designed! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Just got my kit in today! Can't wait to assemble. 😎
How do you like the FP? Thinking of a full-frame replacement to my bmpcc

I have both, but I prefer the bmpcc og.

Once you learn work flow and have davinci resolve, it's easy enough. For professionals it gives you high end results..for consumers, get a sony zv-e1
If I didn't have the smallrig sigma cage I'd definitely look into these... Looks pretty cool.
Just looked at the prices, those seem very affordable...
I now have both the XLCS and Smallrig and the XLCS is just so lush. Selling the smallrig.
Now one for the BMCC 👀👀👀👀
Awesome! This looks really well thought out... and at a good price.
Nice design.
Just ordered mine.
You do my dream cages. Very beautiful and thought. Do you also have a cage for the Sony A6300?

Late to the party and all that, but is there any chance the shoten FP Grip can be compatible with your cage?
Shoot me an email. The contact info is available on the www.xlcsdesigns.com website. We'll see if we can figure it out.

I think you’ll be very happy with it as a solution. They should be in stock in about 10 days 👍🏻
I can attest to that. This IS the solution.
Excellent cage …. Just one last one question: Are the lens adaptors also supporting the Sigma PL-L MC-31? Thanks.
This is beautiful - Can the wooden handle be used on other cages for SIGMA fp?
Would that cage be compatible with the Mofage POCO Vari-ND PL adapter? It requires a cage that does not protrude further than the L-Mount in front of the camera.

@@27RightyI would love a handle which is compatible with the Smallrig 3227 Cage. Not sure why there aren’t many options for it out there.
Will the adapter lock work with the sigma fp cage made by small rig?
Unfortunately not.
You just had to drop this after I bought the niceyrig cage 😭😭😭
Why choose this cage instead of small rig, tilta, and nicerig?
It is significantly better than any of those cages (nicerig doesn't even allow for external power). Beyond that, it is actually available to buy--unlike tilta or smallrig ;)

Can I have a discount code?
@@haibowang6262 sorry, these are brand new, so no discount is available.
