This proves you can make much better special effects with less money. Now i want to see loads of films from the last 10 years remade with this style of special effects
This looks really good, pretty convincing. By the way, have you guys ever heard of David Mitton? He's the director from the original Thomas the Tank Engine. He's basically the Steven Spielberg of shooting with miniatures, and he had a bunch of tricks for making it look more realistic.
@@MiniaturesFX I’m not sure what other projects Mitton worked on, but Thomas the Tank Engine series 1-7 were all directed by him as well as Tugs (only 1 season) Strongly recommend watching for miniature work. Many people consider season 5 to be the best (or at least most adventurous) of the miniature/practical effect work.
Well done guys , I thought that Tom had paid for a 1:1 scale replica to be made & thrown off the bridge but it looks like it was done by you guys in HO/OO scale too , all of that "behind the scene" work must've taken ages to do & you've done a great job of it too ; my modelling isn't as good as yours but it does the job.
The plastic train models do not have realistic impacts on the rocks/cliff wall/water. The plastic models do not absorb the shock and buckle as a metal coach would. I also noticed that in some shots, the locomotive tender was visible falling while in others, it was conspicuously absent, but overall impressive work.
Agreed, the passenger cars would have crumpled on impact and the steam engine would have exploded when it hit the water, and by that I mean a steam explosion, lots of white steam and boiler parts flying with the engine looking like it was disemboweled at the front.
Two points, obviously HO scale(beautifully done layout),1)Should have used Belgian locomotives,as they actually would have hauled Wagon-Lits cars! 2)English engines really do need headlights, only now,in the 2000's have they been equipped! Otherwise,a superb job of miniaturized movie making! That job must have taken(minimum),4-5 months, excellent work! Thank you 😇 😊!
This is some of the most impressive minature affects ive ever seen, the only thing that tells me this is a minature is that the water droplets are huge, but thats kind of impossible to make miniature water. bravo!
Video idea : Breakheart pass train derailment scene. Edit: The Swarm (1978) derailment scene or another wreck is the ring of fire movie derailment scene (1961)
This is better than the crash at the end of Derailed (2002) Despite the fact they used what appear to be III-gauge models in the behind the scenes. They used Green-screen backgrounds instead of one of the painted/printed backdrop.
Well you had me fooled. What a great effort. The modellers work is just superb. So realistic. I only wish that my 00 scale layout was that good. However, IF the rolling stock including the engines were broken I would be mortified...or were the engines and coaches really broken...
I double dog dare you to try to re-create the opening B-17 crash sequence from "The Memphis Belle" To this very day shot for shot it still looks 100% photo realistic 1/1 scale but it was ALL minitures. (I happen to know why, they were just brilliant at using optical illusions and other elements of film that sell the shot with their miniatures)
Erinnert mich an den Film von Tom Cruise Mission Impossible 7 Dead Reckoning 2023 genau diese gleiche Filmszene ist ebenfalls zu sehen. Hammer Film gefällt mir sehr :)
Very cool. Was this done at all in relation to the film production or a standalone? Either way it's always nice to see Europeans making scale models, no one does it better.
Ein Hoch auf die Modellbauer. das sind die wahren heimlichen künster, verborgen in Kellern, Dachböden, Garagen, oder beim Film ;-) Modelleinsenbahn ist und bleibt das beste Hobby der Welt.
The film crew made a lot of real footage with a real locomotive and cars, that’s why I really like the Tom Cruise’s movies. But the sequence could have been very difficult with 100% of SFX.
@@MiniaturesFX Oh I know that, but according to The Corridor Crew, the train was mostly completely replaced with CG for the crash, which I don’t understand WHEN THEY’D ALREADY FILMED THE PRACTICAL TRAIN FALLING OFF THE BRIDGE AND CRASHING, spending all that time and money on doing the crash for real only to replace most shots with CG is ridiculous, illogical, and is a HUGE waste to me. And as for that whole “oh it was just for good reference material for the CG artists” argument, I see that argument as complete bullcrap for the reasons I’ve explained, and also simply because practical effects simply look better and more convincing than CG effects 90% of the time. Would you care to explain to me the logic in NOT using the expensive and time consuming practical footage you’ve already filmed and replacing it all with CG? In my opinion, I say they should’ve kept as much of the full scale practical stuff they filmed with the engine crashing as possible, and used miniatures for the coaches falling into the river.
Nice work. This reminds of that movis set in Germany and it has one of those DB locomotives at the front and there was people onboard that had to stop the coaches going off the bridge with the cranked brake. I cannot remember the name of the film but the carriages had the windows sealed off with metal panels so they could not escape. It was a movie from the 1980's but sadly I don't know the name but this scenario is similar to that film.
I would love to see you all eventually recreate a movie scene i personally am planning to try to. The scene from Runaway Train (1985) where the runaway smashes through that caboose. OR, you could try the Jackson Summit derailment Scene from Atomic Train (1999). Both of which would be extremely cool to see done on a higher budget and skillset than my own
@@MiniaturesFX i might make some props to mess around with. i used to do animation of some form when i was younger after all. though, would you all have any advice for such stuff?
I'm imagining Mission Impossible, but instead of all the drama at the end of the train crash, it does a Lego Movie moment, and pulls back to reveal a model train.
that was amazing, but they forgot something about passenger cars falling down the river, in the real world the first thing falling down river are the trucks that hold the wheels due to they are not attached to the wagon frame they just spin freely at the tracks curve and hold the train weight.
You should do like a little skit of an earthquake where skyscrapers are collapsing and the ground is breaking and stuff like that. Something like 2012 or San Andreas
It took lots of time and effort to produce a scenery, moreover photography crew also work so hard on the imaging part. Wanna know if the Hornby loco can still work after immerse into the water😛
